![]() On occassion my computer will completely lock during zoning. If im in VC and it locks during zoning, the vc automatically halts too. It's like a complete cpu lock and requires a restart. I saw below somebody had a similar issue when zoning into a house, however I have noticed it while attempting to zone into many numerous zones. It's a little silly thinking my pc might die everytime I zone. any ideas? look into what happens when you actually zone, like unloading/loading resources etc. Something in there has the potential to lock a pc. |

![]() Greetings, I'm sorry, it's Friday night and my acronym ability is severely decreased at the moment. What are you refering to when you mention 'VC'? Based on the information I can understand in your post, it sounds like a corrupt UI file. A complete lock up when zoning usually occurs when the game tries to load a bad UI file. You might want to try deleting the following files from your Everquest 2 directory so that the game can download fresh versions: cache foldereq2_recent.inieq2_default.iniEverQuest2.exee q2.iniAs well as the character specific files, these will appear as such:Servername_CharacterName_EQ2_uisettings.iniSt ationname_characters.ini Please keep in mind that deleting those files will reset your UI and controls. If you prefer, then you can simply move those files to a different folder instead of deleting them. That way you can put them back in your Everquest 2 folder if this step doesn't work.

my computer is still locking up randomly when I am playin EQ2. It's the only game I have ever seen with the power to freeze my computer lol. It's pretty annoying actually. It's not just limited to zoning now. Just as well really, I kind of rather not play altogether then loose the custom UI and control layout. You are basically saying "you can only play if you accept the configuration you get when create a new level 1 char". I dont think so. Instead of trying to troubleshoot the 50 odd people who have more or less the same issue in this forum now; do you think you guys can actually go ahead and investigate on your end, and I don't know, possibly come out with a patch? |

I have to defend Daniel here , he's asking you to do what is a standard troubleshooting routine for a solving a problem , if moving those files stops the problem , then add them back from where you moved them to 1 at a time...once you add 1 of them back and your system freezes again...thats more than likely where the problem is contained. Perhaps then the info can be passed to the team and they can try and narrow it down further from that where it's going wrong.. You mention 50 people with the same problem , don't forget all those 50 probibly have different setups , different hardware and different UI settings in game , you try solving problems from a such a diverse set of sources without seeing all the data. |
