![]() If one does not care about looks is there any race that makes a better Bruiser? |

![]() In reality it matters little but there are some nice racial bonuses (see url below) that go better with certain race/class combinations. http://home.comcast.net/~eq2gamedata/main.html Keeping in mind you can betray and become a bruiser at level 10 I will include good races as well so I would suggest the following races. Barbarian, Dwarf, Iksar, Kerra, Ogre, Sarnak, and Troll are the typical fighter type races. Half-elf, Wood elf and Human aren't bad either. In reality any race/class combo works cause you can make most up with gear but those races generally give a small bit of advantage early game and such. |

![]() The absolute best race for bruiser, without a doubt, is OGRE! |

![]() Ogre fits a bruiser from an RP perspective, Ogre has 3% HP boost, Ogre gets a nice stun breakout, but the best reason Ogre is best is because they get extra mitigation! Plus size! |

Ogre fits the class description well but not the actual class. They are too bulky and slow to have such high avoidance. 3% hp isn't that big a deal, the stun breakout is "nice", mitigation well how much? Small > big Ogres are a waste of space, especially on wargs and standing ontop of the broker. |

![]() maybe 3% isn't a big deal to you, but to a raider it's huge. 3% of 20K health is definetley a big deal, certainly more-so than other races that get 3% power. Also the mit is a little over 200 IIRC. around 220. |

Oh, well. It's not worth playing a terrible race just for the traits. This just shows that the arguement for allowing any race to choose any traits is a vaild one. |

weren't all the bruisers from the epic weapon quest line ogres? and I agree ogres would be the best brawler class due to their extra mit (almost as good as another piece of leather). |

![]() I went DE for my Bruiser, cause tbh, I don't think the racial things should deside if I wanted my toon to look nice or not.. hate the look on the Ogre's.. But I guess now, at lvl 80 tanking stuff, I would swap to ogre in a heart beat for those bonuses

Those are NPCs. And it makes no sense for ogres to get mitigation bonuses unless they were to also get heavy avoidance penalties. |

![]() Why should ogre's get a penalty to avoidance? THAT is just silly. No race gets a racial penalty just because onf of their stats is good. Every race gets SOME form of mitigation as an available option in their racial traditions. Ogre's just happen to be the ones who get "Physical" as the type of damage. |

Because having that much of a mitigation bonus is overpowered. Also considering that physical mitigation is both: A. 3 different mitigation types, crush/slash/pierce B. More than 4x as common as any other damage type. So to make it fair for example, ratonga should get either 18% poisdon mitigation or 9% noxious mitigation. |

![]() 200 mit is HARDLY overpowered. It's nice, and IMO makes picking an ogre easily the best choice for a tanking bruiser, but it's certainly not overpowered. Alot of races have at least 1 racial tradition that really stands out and gives them an advantage. Euridite has an amazing 5% cast time reduction, which is amazing for any long caster, IE sorcs, shamans and clerics. Humans have a bonus (+7 I believe) to crush/pierce/slash/defense/deflection and I think parry. Talk about alot of benefits! Iksar have an awesome 50meter ranged CA that can pull a mob from a mile away! Kerra and wood elves have a physical mitigation debuff, which is really nice. Dark elves have that crazy buff that people love. I'm just saying there are several races that have some pretty outstanding benefits, but suggesting that Ogres take a penalty to avoidance, well that would just be outright unfair. |

![]() I chose a Ratonga for my bruiser and never looked back. Ogres are nice but having played EQ1 for so long andhaving ogres being tanks, BLs and one other class I forget , I decided to make a different combination. Besides I made my ogre a ranger hehe

problem with female ratongas is that they have a big butt, and so it looks strange with some gi. I know, my bruiser is a ratonga ^^. kerrans also look cool with a gi, iskars too. Ogres are ugly, even If they are the best bruisers, they are too ugly to be played. But one was right, in the epic quest, there are many ogres and someone even says at one time that the gorynn fists only belongs to people of Zek. still it's funny to see a ratonga bruiser kb a mob twice his size |

![]() I once did a halfling paladin. Funny to look at bad at being a paladin, along with an ogre assasin. Funny as hell to see him go into stealth thou. I like barbarians they have a nice racial combo, my female human one rocks thou. It's funny to see a group of monsters beating her then boom down they all go. |

![]() Personally, I think Sarnak make for great bruisers. The main reason I like Sarnak is for their racial trait "Herbal Supplementation". It adds +5 to crushing, and +2 to melee crit. In addition to that, they get a trait called "Break Will", which reduces the resistability of all spells/taunts by 2%. Yeah, resisted taunts are a negligible amount of hate, but every bit helps, and it's also nice to ensure divide and conquer doesn't get resisted, since I believe that counts as a spell/taunt. While definately not as good for the whole "not dying" thing as the ogre racial traits of +mit and +3% hp, the Sarnak racial traits amount to greater damage and better aggro holding in either a tanking or non-tanking scenario. Still, either ogre or sarnak is a good choice, in my opinion. |

![]() No race matters... you won't get to 80 an hour sooner if you play Ogre or Kerra (FTW) or gnome or wood elf. What matters more than anything is how you play, knowing your class. After that comes friends and guild. Then comes CAs, armor and weapons last. Race doesn't even make the list in comparison to ANY of those. Choose the race you like. It matters not a lick.
