I have seen multiple posts with problems similar to this one, but they all seem to be outdated and unanswered.

I am able to make it to the character creation and select screen just fine, however after choosing one and getting to the "loading zones" portion, I am returned to the character select screen.

I am on Windows Vista, I have done all of the compatability, run as administrator, reboot, re-cycle router, etc. suggestions, and still haven't had any luck.  I have opened recommended ports for station launcher and EQ2 application.  I've tried just about every bit of advice I've come across.

Are there any new suggestions for this problem?

Did you set up your firewall/router to allow the game through?

[EQ2] Firewall and Proxy Information for EverQuest II

Can you try posting a Tracert and Pathping pls?  Perhaps a DxDiag as well....

I'm fairly certain it isn't a router/connection issue.  My desktop, on the same network (running on XP), has no problems getting into EQ2, it's only the laptop with vista that I am unable to log into a character.

I don't get an error message or anything, I am simply returned to the character selecct screen when I reach the 'Loading Zone' portion while trying to log in.

I have UAC disabled, and I have Run as Administrator and XP compatability mode enabled for all the EQ2 files suggested (LPconfig, EQ2.exe Everquest2.exe, etc.)

I also tried without XP compatability mode enabled, but still have the same results.

The game is listed as allow under windows firewall settings, all game ports are open on router, there are no antivirus conflictions, no zonealarm conflicts, no firewall issues of any kind that I know of.

Any suggestions?

This has happened to me as of late also.  I would say it happens once out of every 10 times I log in, or switch characters.  I'll be in game and type /camp Vanderlay, and it gets to loading zone and then goes back to charater select screen.  Some of my guild members have also complained about this happening as well when they switch characters or log in.  I'm guessing it's server related but it is annoying.  Also we all play on Nektulos server, so maybe it's a specific server problem.  Not sure where to go next because I'm going to get the same canned response about my Internet provider, router/modem/, PC issues, etc. etc.

I forgot to mention that I made several attempts at creating different characters on just about every server available (EU and US servers) and got the same result on every one, so I am sure it was not a server login issue.  I made these attempts over the course of the past few days and have never made it any farther than the "zone loading" portion of logging in.

Based off the fact EQ2 runs perfectly fine on my Windows XP desktop connected to the same network, I would have to assume it is an issue with windows Vista (and I have tried every fix suggested for vista that I've come across on these forums).

would lean more towards a misconfigured firewall to start with. If you are running on a router how do you have that configured - port forwarding, dmz or firewall access rules?
