Ok, another event with built in currency has come and gone, with I'm guessing a fair amount of the community still with leftover coins of the realm (or in this case, the event) and no way to spend them. This happens for many reasons...some don't read the official forums, or they do but read it wrong and realize they're a day late...some just plain are too busy to be able to log in to use up those left over coins, or never "got the memo"...no matter what the reason, there's leftover items in the world that have no use, no value, yet people are unwilling to destroy for fear of them becoming useful again.

Now people rant, they rave, they beg and plead, they even threaten to quit over this, but none of it really earns more than the developer's sympathies, and gives customer service reps over the phone something else to decide that their break needs to be a couple minutes longer, so I would like to suggest a solution. Forgive me if this has been suggested before...but it's worth repeating if it has been.

A foreign Exchange Banker (add funky gnome or goblin storyline here...I'd go with goblins ) which takes in old currency, such as the old ellorisi coins (got 3 in the bank myself), concordium notes, frostfell tokens, whatever is introduced later on as a form of limited currency, and converts them (at a rate of 3:1 or 2:1, or even for a monetary fee) into possibly the current event's new currency, or even void shards (the conversion to voidshards should probably have a higher conversion rate). Rates could be retroactive to the current time in the world, and the possible availability of a particular currency. If a coin will no longer be available, it should have a little more value the longer it's been out of circulation. If a coin will become usable again in the future, then it might stick to a 3:1 conversion, or peek at a 2:1 conversion when it's going to be 6ish months till it's usable again. Admittedly a lot of this is coming off the top of my head, but with refinement, it should be possible to automate this process, and make it available to those who have coins and tokens taking up space in their banks (and more stray code/items in the world to cause possible havoc in the future).

Personally, I think this would help out a lot of people, giving players the option to trade in coins in the past they couldn't spend but couldn't destroy (packratitus is a horrible affliction), and give devs not only more options by way of new events, but incite less cries of outrage when an event comes to an end.

I put this in Quests and Live Events, but if it belongs elsewhere, may a mod please move it to the proper topic.

Thankyou for your consideration

Edit : title change

Not a bad idea, I think someone will always still have live event tokens for a variety of reasons. I don't think they should be 2:1, I think it should be 1 for one (perhaps some taken into account difficulty to aquire). The void note venders and dirty guys were in game several months. We had exact Frostfell days in the update notes when it started (I am guessing all temporary things will have dates after the Seeress fiasco). Last year I didn't realize Erolisi would only be around for what was it, like 3 or 4 days? I think I have like 35 tokens from several characters doing the quests, didn't get to spend one cause I thought I would have another few days to get to that.

I'd rather they get rid of all the different 'funny money, ' but since they apparently intend to keep releasing limited edition coinage (over & over & over), then we should have either money-changer or 'coin collector' NPC.

Yeah, this would be a great thing to implement.

I don't think a 3:1 would be very fair.  Most of the coins we got were from hard work doing quests.  Converting higher amounts of past coin, to a lower amount of a current coin, really de-values the long time spent questing (and hard work some of us did) to get the coins.

I personally think that the devs should state whether we are going to be able to use some of this currency again.  I can see E'day and FF coinage being used from now on, but the d.i.r.t.y. money should be usable.  I don't see why they didn't just do like the concordium notes, and put an NPC merch on the landing ship dock in MoY.  Or leave the merchant where he was in SS...
