![]() Let me start off by saying I've been playing a Paladin since the launch of EQ2. I've experienced the changes to the class time and time again all through these years. I've played low tier content and also cleared most all of the latest raid content (Pre-Expansion,VP,Avatar,Etc). I've played a Paladin on PvE and PvP servers. I love the class, always have, its the reason I play EQ2. With that said, I hope you understand that I do see that the class must alter its play style as time goes on. However, with the upcomming changes I feel there is a very large oversight on the part of the Dev's. Leaving aside what many Paladins are most likely unhappy with, (the fact that we've played a class designed to take ae encounters for years and now are being told thats not what we're here for.) The single largest problem that I have with the changes so far (Yes, I copied to test and have experienced the changes), is that we are being told to be a back up Guardian without the ability's to do so. It's no secret why Guardian's have been in the past and will remain to be the prefered MT's for Raids, stoneskin. Now, a Paladin must perform the same role (as we can no longer be the AE tanks, that's SK's and Zerkers), without any means to do so. We have heals that arn't going to save us against raid encounters, a 2k ward, DA (almost useless), and a stoneskin that absorbs 1 whole hit every minute and a half. I'd like to know why anybody is going to want a paladin in the raid? We can't take AE encounters, we have the same amount of hate that a Guardian most likely produces, we have a useless single stoneskin that is nothing in comparison to a guards many stoneskins, we have dps lower than a scouts, and we have heals that are of little to no use in raid situations. Yet at the same time, ability's are given to shadowknights that would prove invaluable to an MT. Such as? A stoneskin the same as a paladin, and even a little SK tsunami. It's just incredible that they are asking a Paladin to do a Guardian's job without supplying the tools to do so. If you want Paladin's to be single target tanks, then give us the tools to perform the role. I've offered alot of problems, here are my suggestions. Stonewall- Change the recast from 1 min 30 seconds, into 2 min 30 seconds or 3 minutes. Change the Duration from 10 seconds to 20-25 seconds. Change the effect to do an initial stoneskin when the ability is activated, and then an additional stoneskin for each successful shield block during the duration of the ability. Our Ward- When the ward expires, allow 1 stoneskin proc on the target that recieved the ward. Leaving aside also the fact that with the new stances, all tanks must fit into cookie cutter roles without being able to adjust to their liking. I liked being able to switch to dps stance and gear when in an instance to tank. Yes, I would take more damage, but I could mitigate that damage with my own heals and wards. Tanks had unique ways of fighting in different situations and thats all ruined now. Now, you simply must tank, or dps. EQ2 is being designed further and further to push players to lvl 80 as fast as possible. Once at lvl 80, you raid or you start over. I love EQ2 raiding, its the single most incredible aspect EQ2 has to offer in my opinion. Now, with these changes, my role in raiding that has been my role since launch is being taken away. I could deal with that and adjust, however, in this situation there is nothing to adjust to. I am simply having the tools to do what I have always done taken away, and they are being replaced with a smile and a nod. I hope that someone reads this and understands the implications of the changes to Paladin in the raiding aspect. You are offering the class nothing, no role at all in a raid situation. Unless a change is made, Paladin's will have to rely on the fact that nobody else is needed to fill a spot in a raid, because EVERYBODY can do what we do, only better. Araris- 80 Paladin of Venekor- 195 aa. Mythical. VP Equipped. I've experienced the changes and they are lacking forethought. |

![]() Having not tested these changes yet I have to agree based on my gut alone. We are getting what we had before albeit via different means. What do we get to make up for that? I don't see anyone else losing survivability at the expense of their hate increases. |
