![]() well i was running a vista 32 bit system on a dell dimension 8400( yes shared vidieo and all that...have played game fine for last 8 months, albeit with lag issues at times) i ran a very high preformance graphics no dual cores in puter. 1meg of ram. i tried uninstalling eq2maps and getting latest updater...no change, crashed even faster imo. i have now totallly uninstalled eq2 and am repathching entire game...god i hope this works...it's been downloading for last 9hrs and seems to be hung up on SNDamb2.vpk file....says there is 49hrs of dl time remaining. going to close patcher and start again. GL to all and hope to one day see beloved kithicor server and norrath again |

Are you running the game in XP compatability mode and with administrator rights? Some people reported this might help. Have you checked that multi-core support has not been enabled by accident in the EQ2 options menu? Might be worth checking that. Good luck. |

![]() I, like many other who posted in this thread have had the same issue on both my wife's system and my own. I used to run Vista 64 with Crossfire X1900 (only 1 Card) on the main system, but on the 18th, after installing the new expansion I started crashing so bad, I thought it was my system. (before I realized it was a Sony evercrash epidemic) So I did the following:
and in case you wonder, neither my wife on her system, nor I on the main system have EVER crashed before the installation of this expansion. once we started crashing we tried adjusting the performance on both system to "very high performance" it made no difference. we crash most often in the new zones but also in other zoned sometime where there is no one else but us in the zone (we got sick of crashing and tried our low lvl toons in Lavastorm with the same results play for 20 min the crash). we play mostly during evening hours CST on the Antonia bell server so there is moderate to heavy load most of the time. I know its just a game and that some will say to get over it and that its not the end of the world (and I agree), but it is very frustrating! especially since we paid good money for the expansion and now we can't even enjoy the old zones while this is getting sorted out. Something is rotten in the kingdom of norrath. time for you to acknowledge it and fix it instead of trying to figure out what we are doing wrong on our end. Respectfully, Tili 80 Wiz. |

Right click the icon and go to properties, then to the compatibility tab. Then you select xp and check the box. I dont have it applied, but should I? |

![]() Do you really mean to suggest that with all these people reporting game crash since the new expending, that its somehow related to there admin right? or OS compatibility setting? does this even make sense? troubleshooting one on one,- find what have changed since the last time it was stable, then identify what the problem is based on the changes. |

![]() Bah. This time I wasn't in game long enough to tweak any of the "workarounds" and make it look like a psychedelic Rorschach test before it crashed. I won't bother again until I hear of a fix. If it isn't stable by December 21st, when my sub runs out, I sincerely regret that I won't be back. |

![]() ok have set to xp compatabile and have the admin box checked( although normally i just right click shortcut and select run a s admin. i know that admin access is NOT prob as i stat game in admin mode everytime i play. ok polly should have given this info sooner but splipped my mind...last night after last crash 2 secs after i got in game..i left the winows box sayin EQ2 client application has stopped working, running to see what it said. said the prog was not responding and windows would infrm me when it found a solution. solution box came back as this prgram was closed by windows made by microsof. there is currently no solution to the problem know. pls ensure you have downloaded the latest updates and service pack to ensure optimal preformance. ok...does this mean it IS my OS doing this? |

That's standard stuff that Windows shows when a program crashes, but it's not Windows "doing" it, it's a problem in the EQ2 client. From all of the reports coming in, there's an issue with a DirectX call they're making. The one suggestion that seems to work for most people is to disable multicore support (under Options > Performance) and set performance to 'balanced' or 'high performance' (make sure you exit the game and restart after doing this). If you crash right on entering the game, then you can try editing (or creating) the eq2.ini file and add the following line: cl_multicore false That should tell the game that you don't want to use the multicore feature, and for a lot of people that has resolved the issue; I personally was having this problem where I would crash every 10 minutes or so. Disabling multicore support allowed me to raid last night without any problems at all. |

Well, it is a nice post, but its not just the whole multi-core causing the troubles. I run a single core cpu and still get the crashes on a machine thats never crashed on eq2 before.. I got it running mostly stable last night, but I had to dump it to Extreme Performance and leave it.

![]() The EQII team is working on fixing the issue here. We are not just analyzing what is going wrong on the player end, though this helps in reproducing the issue so we can isolate the problem. As far as debug goes, rolling back is not so simple. There are thousands of code changes since the last release. Stepping back one by one and rebuilding the game each time is painstakingly slow and would likely reveal the solution months from now. Yet first we require a system which consistently crashes on our end to determine if what we "roll back" or, in our case, "isolate" in code is causing the crash. Please be patient while we continue to work on this. I'll see if I can get some temporary solutions posted at the top of the thread as I do not manage this forum site.

![]() Crashing (~6 times) after no more than 5 minutes since TSO when running in fullscreen. When I'm not in fullscreen, I haven't crashed once (2 seperate 3 hours sessions). Vista32 (4GB RAM), GTX8800 (768mb). EDIT: Wanted to add; my machine never crashed pre-TSO - stable as a rock. |
