Everyone is going down and coming back up at the same times SMILEY

It'll wind up putting us live right on top of the EU prime time, if I understand the time zones correctly...

I believe UK time is 5-6hrs ahead of est time if I remember correctly so if the servers are going back up around 12:00 pm pst 3:00 pm est that means they should be back up 8-9:00 pm UK time.

One thing to expect on launch day is the UNAVAILABILITY of the boxed set from Best Buy!!!!

Their website and their stores say it will not be available until the 19th!  This is outrageous!!!  Their own paper circular from Sunday said the 18th, but they say they WILL NOT SELL it until the 19th!  I've already confirmed that my local store they have them in but will not release them until Wednesday.

I will have to find it somewhere else I suppose.

Gamestop is getting copies in, which is... absolutely amazing.  They had a ton of extras on the shelves TODAY.  I got my preorder copy.

Guys...  This is already being hashed out in several threads in the Expansion Forum.

Let's please keep this on the topic of what to expect on Launch Day from us, not from someone else.  Kk?

I have a question about the new map system and EQII maps.  Will these continue to work in conjunction with one another, or does the new map system supercede the EQII maps mod?

Here...

Less of course you're offering to come buy us all lunch   We'll take that too!

Very strong coffee is welcome too!  Some of us have to be extremely early

Yes. >_>

/has her pillow and flannel blanket packed up and ready to go

Thank you in advance all those starting so early , good idea bringing the blanket, it helps to have some thing to cover your head with while rocking in the corner mumbling "make them go away", which may be the case 12 hours later

Hey guys, as I mentioned in this blog post, I'll be tweeting random bits of EQII:TSO goodness throughout the day to twitter.com/autenil (all my TSO related posts are also tagged #shadowodyssey).  It's a bit of a behind-the-scenes look at what devs are doing on launch day.

Just incase you're interested...

Well as suspected HMV (UK) are out of stock and they're blaming their suppliers. No ETA. Not willing to call the supplier. Looks like they did not actually have anywhere close to what they'd need for their special pre-orders. Estimates on a standard order on their site is now two weeks. Its a [Removed for Content] shambles, and if it hadn't been for the disparity with content I'd have gone for the DD direct.

With the digital downloads, if I remember right from EOF, once the actual purchase goes through (which mine just did) you don't need a key code to put in right? You're basically 'flagged' for the expansion?

Mate, the content is exactly the same. The only difference is some fluff, mount etc. For the sake of avoiding this frustration (which happens every time by the way) I always go DD

Can we get the schedule posted here, too? Since EQ2players is down and I didn't memorize it.

Here you go

EverQuest II's fifth expansion, The Shadow Odyssey, launches on Tuesday, November 18, 2008. Here's a quick rundown on what to expect on launch day.

11:59 PM PST on Monday, November 17, 2008: The pre-order process will be turned off. You have until this time to place a pre-order in the station store for the digital download and still qualify for the in-game items.

12:01 AM PST on Tuesday, November 18, 2008: The magic starts happening. The servers for all regions will come down and the new data will be pushed out to the live servers.

6:00 AM PST: The Community Relations team gets into the office and checks in with the dev team and starts posting updates on the forums!

12:00 PM (noon) PST - This is the estimated magic hour when we anticipate having the servers up and running for all of you to experience The Shadow Odyssey!

From there on out it's all about enjoying the expansion!Should you experience any difficulties with your pre-order or retail goodies Customer Service will be ready to assist you! You can contact CS one of three ways:

1. Live Chat - http://www.station.com/kb (Live Help tab). If you cannot find the answer through the knowledge base, click on the "Live Help" tab to chat live with a Support Representative. The Live Chat is open Monday to Friday, from 10:00am - 7:00pm PST.

2. Email Support - http://www.station.com/kb (Email Support tab). If you cannot find the answer through the knowledge base, click on the "Email Support" tab to email a Support Representative.

3. Phone support - Available Monday through Friday from 10:00am - 7:00pm PST, except holidays, at 1-858-537-0898. Now...the REAL question is this:

How many times will Antonia Bayle crash between 11/18/08 and 11/23/08?

What I expect on launch day:

Hubby to download for me while I'm at work.

Get home from work and working out and playj for a bit

Get annoyed with someone who's like your a n00b because you havent' maxed everything out already.

 Hubby to fix my sig.

What I expect the days after

People crying because they've been nerfed.

Servers to crash.

A blizzard because SKs are actually wanted.

Okay guys..this is the first year I did the retail box, but with all other disc installs I have done with other games, at the end of the install I get the option to put my code in.  I know we cant put our codes in yet, but where do we put the codes in?  I installed and did the patch already this morning.

Did I miss something?

To put your code in, when you get to the "PLAY" window, instead of hitting "PLAY" press "My Account".

Put in your username and pass

Click "Enter Activation Code"

Select game, in this case Everquest 2

Enter Activation code (do not use the dashes)

press "Continue"

Done

swashbuckling, adj. [swosh-buhk-ling, swŏsh-b*k-lēng]

-Though many of us will automatically think of a pirate when we hear this word, it actually refers to the characteristics or manners of a 'swaggering swordsman, soldier, adventurer, or daredevil.' Swashbuckling appeared towards the end of the 17th century as the adjective form of English swashbuckler (circa 1560 CE), the 'swaggering swordsman' mentioned previously. This in turn is was formed by combining English swash and buckle. Swash started out as a noun first recorded in 1538 CE meaning 'the fall of a heavy body or blow' and may have been formed as an imitation of the sound made when this happens. It took on a verb form a few decades later, which appears to be the swash that begat our swashbuckler.

Everyone's got their own expectations and decided what they wanted. The mount might not be as good as a 32Plat mount but from what I've read its not bad. That and I rather fancied the minature too.

The house item didn't interest me so the choice was fairly easy personally. All that aside I agree the DD would be the most convenient and perhaps that's why its made especially difficult to find in the shops. I visit these stores today.

HMV

Virgin (Zavvi)

Gamestation

Game

WH Smith.

This is in a major city in the UK. None of them had it on the shelves. 3 of them didn't even have it listed on their system and only one was able to get it as a 'special order' in upto 28 days.

Again I say shambles. Not blaming SEO, who of course can't predict what their 3rd parties will farm out to Joe Public. However everywhere I went the face of WOW and its end caps, points of sale and retail boxes lined the shelves. I do wonder at how much effort was put into the physical release... And for an inferior imho game it's surprising to me*.

*Edit WoW being the inferior game I mean SMILEY
