I got the same massage like in the first posted article.

Also checking the net status, my server has already up because I saw it was locked ten minutes ago.

And done 2 times full scan, the client end is okay but still isn't accepted by the server.........

Yes, I was just chuckling about the same thing...tho when Spyder posted, the status page did show the servers were down...now, however, someone must have jumped the gun with the "servers up" announcement.

Network status says all up, ran full file scan. Still getting same message as everyone else. Wow, SOE is so sweet, they are right on top of things. And the waiting game ensues........

Just letting anyone else who is having this problem know, network status in this instance is not your friend at all.

I've run a full file scan and still cannot log in even though network status tells me that all servers are up.

Why sony would even attempt this on a weekend is beyond me but they in thier wisdom have chosen to do so.

So here I sit with no options. Cannot log in now. All servers are not up for some of us, as I'm certain I'm not the only person experiencing this ridiculous problem.

All servers were up now some are down.  No mention of vox being down on the network status page although one cannot log in.

Replace 'your friend' with 'totally unreliable' and I'd agree with you...

Same 'problem' here: log in, all seems fine till 'Login Rejected  the client's version does not match the server's please rerun patch' - same as the OP. Re-run patcher as instructed: patcher doesn't download anything new, so do a full file scan. Still no download... cross fingers and hit 'PLAY.'

Login Rejected  the client's version does not match the server's please rerun patch.

Rinse and repeat.

Conclusion: servers are down; 'Network Status' is not a friend, it's a lying POS. Suggestion made earlier in the thread to 'relax' is a good one: however, with visions of many zealous distinguished loyal addicts getting frustrated at this situation, a better idea would be for Sony to arrange things so that the system didn't mislead us all into wasting our time...

Rant over, time for another coffee SMILEY

My real worry is that SOE has been very careful about patching on the weekend, ever since the great weekend long downtime about 4 years ago where they ended up crediting folks 2 or 3 days, and gave us the first ever 'bonus xp weekend'.

A weekend update means that something is catastrophically broken.  Looking at the login fail message seems to indicate that their 'fix' was rushed and under tested, causing further problems.

I sure would like to see something from the SOE team, anywhere, but know better than to hold my breath waiting to see that happen.

the patcher compatibility issue seems to have cleared... now just waiting for login... would expect this to be another 10 minutes at least if it's like their other down times

If you are going to offer "help", then maybe you could have clicked on the link you provided and seen that it listed All Servers Up.

You really should quit padding your post count...

even when the servers are down, you will get either login server is down, or get to the character screen showing servers down.  this particular message is highly rare, and i dont remember seeing it in a couple of years.  Obviously it means that your client isn't agreeing with what's on the server, but the $10,000 question is why isn't the patcher downliding the right stuff.

i got up this morning and started eq2, logged in and it ran the patcher, after the patch was done i click PLAY and on next screen i get this:  Login rejected, the client's version does not match the server's, Please re-run the patcher.

Ok i did this several times and still have same problems, SO please fix this so we can play the game, i checked the network site and says all worlds are up and it is 9:50pm central time, so NO servers are down, the eq site says all servers are up but we still cant get into game.

It happens when servers are patched and the client patch is not yet live. All you can do is wait ... and pray ... and hope it does not last long ... and pray again ....

Patching on a weekend..Friday, Saturday, or Sunday should only be done if there is an emergency fix in a situation where the game would go down if it is not done right then. Weekends is when most players have the main game time scheduled and it is redicoulous to do this for a non emergency patch...and the game ran fine before they took the servers down.  In the industry any industry updates or big projects are NEVER done, or started on a friday ( if the powers to be have any smarts) and God forbid on a weekend without being forced too to this.  All SOE is doing with this is to alienate players even more.

My guess is they were still in the middle of updating the patcher...  so that's the message you get...  looks like that's fixed now, at least on my end.

But that being said they should review their patching procedure, because when you get this message it seems like the problem is on your side. The launcher should not let you start the game until complete patch is done on their side.

It is a bit unusual to see a Saturday patch. Sony hasn't said it but it likely is having to have all their servers patched for a critical microsoft update that is for most of their major OS's. It was so critical that the company I work in had all our computers/servers patched in a day when it normally takes a week.  Might not comfort those still having login issues, but thought I might put some light on the possibility of why the update happened.

I'm sure someone in the SOE server room hit the big red "Update" button on the servers on accident.

But this is just the kind of unaccounced bull crap that SOE pulls on us quite a bit.  I don't mind updates, actually I kinda like the fact that they are working on things.  The problem that I have is that they don't let the community know what is going on.

If you screwed up and accidentally spilled coffee on something and it took the servers down.... tell us..  I'm sure alot of us that work daily in some sort of IT capacity would laugh their @ss off.

The bottom line is the SOE has never been good at letting us know whats going on, and that really really needs to change.  50minutes past an accidental anything is plenty of time to say...  "Oops, we are workign on it.. Sorry!"

At least we would know something.

omg, you mean the patch is going to take an hour?

(more aimed at the [Removed for Content] who felt like attacking me)

most of the time patches actually take 2 hours, so those who aren't very patient, well you still got some time to wait.

And how do you know there isn't something in the background that needed and emergency fix?  You are only going by your perception of events.  Not by the perception of how things truely are.
