I just got a new pc with dual 8800's.I downloaded the latest drives from nvidia. When I log in, I see lines down the middle of my screen every few seconds. Also, after about an hour of play, my whole pc blows up - screen gets all fuzzy and vid drivers crash.I have to restart the pc.I've played other games, like HL2 for hours without any issues like this.I changed Nvida setting for EQ2 to force it to only run one Video card, but that didn't help any (I'm not even sure it worked)I even tried disabling one of the vid cards, but then it wouldn't even let me start EQII. It would crash as soon as it started.Any suggestions?

My first thought is that you're having heat issues. How well ventilated is your case? How much room exists between your two video cards? Have you tracked temps at all since getting the PC?

The most is does is barely into the yellow.I think it hovers around 45-50C (I'm at work atm)I orded it online and actually havent even opened it up to look at it yet.I'm thinking about taking out one of the vid cards as I've heard that can help. |

Do you still have the error if you disable SLI?I have seen quite a few customers letting us know that thier SLI 8800s are not working properly. This was pre GU 49 as well.

Unless you're running a second monitor, as soon as you alt tab to a different process, the temps will drop dramatically because the cards aren't being stressed. My first thought is that you're having heat issues. ![]() check with riva tuner or EVGA Precision -a mini riva tuner this will graph the temp and the fan speed ; a faster fan speed migh help to lower the temp just an amount to clear up the problem. |

![]() Make sure nothing is overclocked. If you start the PC cold, start everquest, and get lines on the screen immediatelly the issue is not likely heat related. Heat issues usually creep up after some playtime. My suggestion is to download Orthos http://www.overclock.net/downloads/...142-orthos.html and let it run for 2-4 hours to check system stability. If it is stable go to the nvidia control panel and set the driver options to default and see if that helps. Other then that I would suggest disabling SLI for this game if you continue to have issues. I know it sucks but it is what it is. |
