This may seem like a dumb question, but I'm trying to figure out the most efficient way to use despotic mind while soloing.  Do folks usually cast it on themselves before starting a fight?  Or maybe set up a macro that targets themselves, casts and targets last mob?  If a macro is best I would appreciate you letting me know how to write it because I gnerally suck at writing them.  SMILEY  It just seems that I'm usually hitting F1, casting and then trying to get target back on the mob and this just seems cumbersome to me.  Thanks for the help.

I've setup a macro for mine.Just right click on the spell and select "make macro" or whatever it is. Then where is says target in the macro put your toons name in. It's that easy. SMILEY

You can make the macro 1 of 2 ways.  The easy way is as said above, but the other way is it do this:target_selfuseability Despotic Mindtarget_previousThis will target yourself, cast Despotic Mind, then target your previous target.  The reasoning behind using this is if you have a Possessed Pet with the same name as yourself, the above one can screw up sometimes and end up on your pet, instead of yourself.

Thanks for the help - really appreciate it.

Another dumb question as it relates to Despotic Mind - If I'm grouping and cast it on an aoe'r like a warlock, how is the damage calculated and the triggers used up?  Will 1 aoe use up 1 trigger or if 1 aoe hits 3 mobs, will that use up all the triggers?  Thanks for the help.

I use /useabilityonplayer MyPlayerName Despotic MindThat way you never lose your target...  Don't know if maybe that's effectively the same as the first way or not, though. SMILEY

(stupid forum bug getting a failure 50% of the time i post SMILEY )

way1 = /useabilityonplayer MyPlayerNameyup

@Khallys: The Damage counts for the one you casted the mind on (warlock in that case). It will trigger on those he hitted with his aoe (up to 3 trigger of course). I only would cast in on a SK with aggro problems, the rest of the time on yourself.

I think my main issue with this one is that the hotkey never greys out when the spell isn't up.

If you create it from the spell itself, it will.

When soloing I use the "create macro" on it and set my name as its target, as has been mentioned.

In most groups I leave it like that.  But if there's a sorceror in group, I'll change the target name to the sorceror instead.  Seems to work better when I do it that way.
