Okay. So I need some resolution on this. I don't want opinions or guesses, because I've heard them all and I still don't know: DO DEFILER WARDS CRIT?? I have checked a zillion and a half ACT logs, and critical appears false in every single instance of both my most common wards (whereas all my heals show 'true' crit values often, they cit fairly frequently). On top of which, watching my wards in the Prophet UI buff screen lets you know exactly how much damage the ward will take, which is never above my wards normal max. Finally, after reviewing my combat logs, I've never been able to find a line about critically warding. So....is there is anyone out there that can give me a definitive answer on this? Cuz if they don't, thats bogus. Thanks!

If you have the UI that shows how much remains on ward, you can spam it. I spammed the single target ward with no buffs in the tradeskill instance. Most of the time it would show 943 but occasionally rise to 1085 (a 15% increase). So it appears as though wards do crit.

Wars can crit, yes. Based on Heal Crit chance. However, they do not show up as a Crit in your logs unless they expire.

Save the log from a mob that beats through you're wards easily in 2 or 3 swings.Sum up the damage listed as "absorbed" by the ward before the tank starts taking damage. You'll see the sums end up being one of two numbers. The base value of your ward, or the base value of your ward + 15%. Yes our wards crit, but we only get a minimal benefit to it compared to melee crits that boost the average damage of crit hits versus non crit hits significantly more than 15%. The minimum benefit of a crit melee hit is 30% more than non crit hits on a weapon with a damage spread of less than 30%. Not sure how heals that have a spread to them are affected but I've always assumed that they were treated in same manner as melee crits.More data in post in mystic forums

Off top of my head no wards have a range, they all ward for a fixed base amount. They crit for 15% in relation to your heal crit%. The 15% is after any +heal amount as they appear in your base ward amount as well. Wards can be boosted further by items (Claymore reward, Ring of Forgiveness etc) so a base mystic M1 T8 ward can go from 2,100 to ~4k depending on circumstances, group buffs etc.

You don't need a custom UI to see how much damage is left on a ward. And yes, they do crit.

The value show on the description is not the base value, it includes the +heal items. Restating from the post I linked to:--------------------------------------Had some long fights that were fairly easy to examine in the log file. One battle I cast my single target ward 24 times. 13 times the ward absorbed 2413 damage.8 times the ward absorbed 2689 damge.3 times the ward was recast before the mob hit through it. This would suggest that the base value of my ward at the time was 1840, and that I had +573 in +heal items.non crit wards:1840+573 = 2413crit wards:1840*1.15 + 573 = 2689 |

Nothing about 'you critically ward' anyone... GM? Please answer? The message as the ward is depleted does not indicate a crit. Ie, when someone is hit and damage is removed from the ward there is no indication. This is what the parser actually parses for healing. The message when the spell lands on your target does indicate crit. This isn't parsed because just cause you warded the person doesn't mean you actually healed them.

![]() Yes, wards crit. They will always be a flat 15% + whatever plus heal items you have. They don't show in the floating numbers the way regular heals do, because they aren't precisely heals. If a crit ward expires with a heal, that number will show as a crit. It's easy enough to see. Just chain ward yourself and check your maintained icon. It will tell you the amount of the ward. |
