Hey all coming back to play after 2 years away. Many changes! I have found trying to do the Gray Questing for AA's with my existing Lv 20 Ratonga Troubador is almost wasted time. I am getting AA exp but no exp. I had made a new Sarnak and know I could start a new Troubador and level to 20 in no time and get the AA's.

The new Racial Traditions change things a bit on what Race you choose as well. I am thinging about going with the following races and pointing out what I think would be benificial for a Troubador.

Ratonga - Rob, ShadowLurker, Street Thug, Rodent Reflexes the Rat are weak in strength for Melee but highest Agi and Int for starters.

Kerra -  Kerra Speed, Feline Grace, Fleetness of Foot,  A bit more strength and pretty good Agi with so so Int. Like the addional Out of Combat Run Speed and Falling Damage (Like Hover Best No Thinking)

Dark Elf - Hover, Master of the Shadows, Same 2% Melee and +5 Piercing as Ratonga, Knowledge of Neriak + Int for spells, They seem have second highest starting Agi + Int and a bit more Str

Arasai - Fae Fall, Aerial Dodge, Arasai Flight 5% run speed, Savvy +5 Int Same Agi and Int starter as Ratonga but lower Stamia

I dont have a favorite when I started many years ago the Ratonga seemed like the best fit but I will be starting a new Troubador and thought I would throw this out there for some feedback.

Another note. I maybe worth keeping my 20 Ratonga Troubador just because every trainable skill is maxed out and this will take a bit of time to accomplish on a new character. The Exp will come quick but skill training can take time.

Thanks

You can hit L20 in about 5 hours running through the Timorous Deep quest lines.Don't underestimate the Kerran racial Claw ability.  The debuff is VERY nice.

Your right on the Kerra claw. Funny I started a Kerra and leveled pretty quick but again those trainable skills will take some time to catch up to my LV20 Rat. One note is my safefall is 110 and I can jump off pretty much anything will minimal damage.

Safefall is largely irrelevant these days.  Cloak adornments give the same ability to anyone on the cheap.

I would say Kerra, Dark Elf, and Ratonga are all good calls, all get a 15% movement speed while stealthed. All races have abilities that you would find useful.

For something off the ones mentioned, mine is Human which I love for the 'Diplomacy' ability which fits a troubador really well. Lets you reduce the aggro range of any encounter to 'right in their face' for 20 seconds with a 2 minute recharge. Lets your whole group just walk on by them. Perfect for getting rid of those scout mobs when trying to do stealthy stuff.

The rest of the human abilities arent too exciting but I've never seen another ability in game like Diplomacy. (There must be one, I just havent seen it)

I went with Froglok simply because I like the humor of it.   I have to agree with the Kerran claw ability.  I use it on my Inquisitor along with the other Inquis mitigation debuff spell.  My melee hits and combat arts dmg goes up by 20% with that combo.

I think many make to big a deal about racial bonuses. Go with whatever race you like, unless you liek spending money on bones, ! thing ill say about the 2 fae races, is any mob with a knock up ability they suck to play becasue you take forever to come down and you cant turn it off.

I have a Half Elf Troubador, and I think they have some good racial traits.  They have: +5 agility, +5 out of combat movement speed, 1.5% max health and power, a deaggro, 1% crit and parry, and a mitigation debuff attack (and others of course).  But I went with that race because I *liked* it for what it was, a handsome, dashing, conflicted character SMILEY  Many races will have good traits, so look at the ones with something to offer the class that also have a personal appeal to you.

I also have a half elf troub.  I picked her cause half elves are hot, (hey im honest).  I also picked half elf before they changed the racial abilities and I think I made out pretty good, as they are really well rounded racials.  The 5% perma run speed buff stacks with your selos songs as well for a little added fluff.
