I am very new to this game and I am wonderig how the experiance gains work towards building your toons abilities up. Can anyone shead some light on this subject for me or tell me where to read up abou it. Just wondering how I earn points to use in the knowledge tree? I noticed the page has #8 first so does that mean you cant use any points till lvl 8? Do you get only 1 pt at lvl 8? I am just a little confused right now.

Well for starters you unlock your AA tree's at level 10.  Hit the L button and it will bring up the AA window.  Notice there will be 2 tabs one for your class and the other for your subclass.  You will be able to spend 100 AA points on these tree's until you hit level 70, and then 40 more AA can be used, 20 on each tree.  You will get AA for each time you discover a landmark or important location, and also when you kill "most" named mobs.  The biggest way you will earn AA is simply by doing quests.  Do as many quests as you can.  And you'll be on your way to building a great toon built just the way you want.  Which brings me to my last point...It's ok to experiment with your AA choices.  As you can respec them later on (and most likely you will, because we all do it)  You can get tips on how to build the perfect but to be honest no two people likely agree on what is the best for each class, and this is the way you can make your toon different than all the rest.  Some choices are no brainers.  For example the Necro Tainted Heals.  Some other classes don't have such standout AA choices.  Ask someone who you think you can respect to give you good advice.  And they most likely will get you steered into the right direction if nothing else.  It will be up to you on how to fine tune your toon into the fighting/healing/buffing machine you want to be.Oh and welcome to EQ2.  I think you'll love it here.

Thank you thats very helpfull.  I do love it so far, I been playing SWG for 4 years now and this game has some much more content it's not even funny. I think I am here for the long hall now, I downloaded the expansion bundle lastnight and started a new toon on TD.

If I have the bundle is it worth it to get the other 3 bonus expansions listed on Station?

If you purchased Rise of Kunark, then you already have it all....  *wink*Sometimes your account doesnt recognize that you own ot simply due to your not actually purchasing it.  But RoK comes with all the expansion pack AND the adventure Packs...Happy that you enjoy it!

OK cool, thank you....you just saved me some money because I was going to buy the adventure packs today. Ay good sugestions on places to go as a team of two or three besides TD. Two of my friends came over with me from SWG and they dont have the expansions yet and I think they are both in Qeynous (if thats how it' spelled). I think we are all around lvl 10-15 now.

Without any expansion packs, you are limited to Antonica and Commonlands areas at those levels. But many of them are alignment based...  The only place at those levels that the 3 of you can really quest together would be TD.  You can also try some of the lower level dungeons Like Blackburrow, and Wailing Caves.  Later on, you can head to Stormhold and Fallen Gate.  Again, many of the quests that you can do in those zones will be faction based as well SMILEY<img src=" />Did they only buy the original Eq2?

I think you are refereing to the racial ability page. If you press L, you get a window with three pages. Two pages are for your AA spendings which are already explained by above posters.

Then the first page is your racial ability page.

You get to choose various abilities after every so many levels. For example, at level 8, then at 14, then at 20, etc.

The corresponding level is displayed to the left and once you have reached that level, you can make a choice from the available choices to the right. If you move your mouse over an icon, it will display a description.

Choose wisely, because unlike AAs, I don't think you can reset these. May be I am wrong, but I have never tried to reset them SMILEY

As far as the racial/class ability page.... I don't know if you can 'respec' them like the AA tree, but there are times when it has been reset by the game (so you aren't entirely STUCK with your choices if you make the completely wrong one.

THat said, the first part of the page will be your racial choices. Read through these closely, some will be more effective at lower lvls depending on your class/ crafting trade. For example a High Elf warlock would be less happy with a wis boost then a templar, but  might really appriciate extra mana or extra dodge (these are just for example, can't remember what the specifics are for HEs or any of the classes listed).

Next you will find a section that will let you adjust your stats & mitigations a bit. I'm pretty easy, I pull up the personna page, find which of the 5 types of mitigation I am weakest on, & select that one. First couple times I selected stats for my warlock, I went with the high int/mana regens. However after the last forced respec, I realized that I solo 99% of the time... I buffed my str & physical damamge resists. Either way, if you turn down a certain type of buff, you probably have a chance to select it in 10-30 lvls.

Finally the last section is your Master spells. Every few lvls, you will be given a chance to select one of four spells/skills to upgrade. (Quick reminder for new folks (App I is the spell you get automatically when you lvl, App IV is a 'common' player made version of the spell with better stats. Adept 1 is a looted version of spell that is better still, Adept III 'mastercrafted' (meaning it requires a rare material) player made, even better stats, & finally Masters. Master I is the one I'm discussing, Master III is when god himself gives you an upgrade to your spells- I've never seen this.) The possible spells to select are usually the last four spells you gained (so they are lvl appropriate). For warlock, I'd usually get a choice of improving my Area of Effect, my persistant buff, my direct damage and my damage over time spells. Then you can adapt your special spell to fit your play style.

yeah, the AA respec merchant also lets you respec your racial abilities and traits.

Very cool stuff thanks for all the help. I went with a berserker Barbarian and he kicks butt so far, I had tried Conjuor first and it's cool but I like this better so far. But I just started him last night right after the update for the bundle so I only got up to lvl 6 before I logged. Any advice on whats good to use in race and AA's for this class?
