If you think it's bad now, wait till T8 when 3 of the first 5 bipeds you find in Kylong Plains are considered animals, but the only animal looking mob (wyvern/wyrm) aren't.Just keep charming, remember the pets you have good results with, and remember that charming names is usually disallowed, and keeping them is bad form since it keeps others from killing them.

I still use it with both my warden and fury. The additional DPS it provides (when I can find an animal to charm) more than makes up for the occasional pain in the [Removed for Content].And really, the charm/mes animal is just gravy for getting the faster, heartier HoT.

It would be nice if there was some easier method for telling "what is an animal". I mean, I thought I knew! But I was surprised today when I couldn't charm a crocodile in fens. And then reading another thread and hearing that drovalgs and yeti's are considered animals?! I just wandered around with a gorilla in KP as it was the only obvious animal I saw. I guess technically yes drovalgs and yetis ARE animals, but then shouldn't we be able to charm anything thats not a plant, elemental, golem or undead? Anyway, I am having tons of fun with this ability. I have always loved pet classes and its really nice to play one that isn't so squishy on its own like a caster. I do have one major gripe though:Why oh why, for the love of all that is holy, does my pet insist on standing on top of whatever I'm trying to loot or harvest? It's so annoying trying to click through a giant rhino butt. Maybe this is the pet's passive rebellion.

![]() I have charm animal incidentally....because I wanted the heal crit in AGI, and you can't get there if you didn't get all the charming abilities. I always kind of cringe when I charm something. Even though I have maxed (and then some..with gear) subjugation, when charm breaks, there I am being beaten up by the mob and by my charmed animal...and unbuffed cause I had to give up 3 slots. I'd rather just root 'em and nuke 'em. Roots are far more reliable and rarely, if ever, break. Charm doesn't hold nearly as well, and with rooting/nuking I never have to worry about whether the thing is an animal or not. If the 'animal' tag was consistent across the game, even, charm would be a little more useful. If, say, a spider in Oakmyst is 'an animal', a spider in Skyfire should be, and so should every spider in between. If I were Queen........!!! |

It's probably just a case of the devs not talking enough to each other.

I would rather not get wailed on by 2 mobs especially in places like KP or KJthe root nuke method seems to work just fine for methe only thing that bothers me now is when i get in my late 70's I will have to respecfor raiding down to a heal bot for my guildoh well, thanks for the input

Agi/sta/int would work for soloing if you root/nuke and for raiding/grouping... I melee and I have found it sometimes useful to have a pet for some added dps. Even if the charm breaks mid-fight, unless it is a heroic, or while fighting a heroic (yeah, I'm just a masochist like that...), I don't notice it usually- the exception being if I am already fighting 3-4 mobs when the pet breaks. I am just dissappointed that the charm won't allow me the soloability vs heroic mobs I had in T7...for me it's a lot more fun going into a dungeon solo with the chance at earning loot by killing a few names than it is to kill a bunch of trash single, no arrow mobs in an overland zone...but that's another topic and sorry to psuedo derail... Edit: oh, and [Removed for Content] is it with that formless grey blob next to my name? Is that supposed to be an inflamed liver after having too much brew? |

![]() You can also use the aa mirrors. They are getting very cheap on the broker now to switch for raids and have 2 sets of gear. I don't bother with switching my aa's personally since I dont raid much and havent seen any noticable improvement when I did switch the couple of times I tryed it. I do have 2 gear sets, one wis/melee I normally wear and one wis/heal procs (usually with useless int) for raid named weak group instances where I will spend most of my time healing and even the ca's, as quick as they are, will not be used much. |

well I will say this I am level 68 and almost complete with all the quests in KP from what I have read on eq2 wiki the suggested starting level is 68 for that area..lolso rooting and blasting away on all yellow and orange mobs without them beating me has helped a toni feel sorry for you suckers get beat on by kunark mobsmy friend who is a zerker is mad cause he couldnt start KP till he was late 60's when i told him I am almost done and that i started at 65 he couldnt believe itSo all those are are not sure what route to go Here is my suggestion:50 Points in Druid go all the way down Int Line and put remaining in Wis (Improved sow helps me run away when root breaks)Remaining points get the Improved Root, Sow, and Mitigation in Warden lineDo that and you will be able to goto areas beyond your level and kick some a55

Is it just me, or did the saber teeth in Fens go from charmable to non-charmable in the last patch?

![]() The Sabertooths in the Fens are still charmable for me. However, I do prefer the Stonebeaks, personally. They seem to hold the Charm better and have a nice little knockback that procs periodically. If you like the Sabertooths, then you will probably like the Warslik Prowlers as well.
