As we all know, Garanel Rucksif is the end mob for Unrest, but the other day I was doing "These boots were made for..." on my alt and at one point you have to lay Hwal's grandfather to rest. I never realized it before, but when you go to kill his grandfather's ghost, its named the ghost of garanel rucksif...is there any story on how he is in unrest also?

They're not the same ghost. The original Garanel Rucksif was a ghost in EQ1, which was 500 years ago. The Garanel Rucksif under the Tower of Vhalen is Hwal's grandfather and unless EQ2 dwarves live much longer than typical fantasy dwarves that is just too long of a time span to only advance two generations. I don't know the official explanation of the name, but I'm sure it's not just a coincidence.

Hwal states that every... 2 other generations I believe it was, get afflicted with Garanel's Curse, and are named Garanel. It means that Hwal's Father was not named Garanel, but Hwal's son will be.

Garanel in unrest actually drops a quest item, shoe lining which you can take back to Hwal with your old work boots and get an upgraded fabled 70 pair with +20 to all harvesting skills, i got rather lucky and managed to get it myself
