My friend is making a Necro and is dead set on it and I'm planning on making a character to duo with her. I already have a healer (Mystic) on the good side so I'd like to try something different and Assassin and Shadowknight are the two I'm most interested in (maybe Bruiser as well). Which of those would go better with a Necro Thanks

If you don't mind betraying, a Defiler would make a great partner for a Necromancer.

Of the other classes you mentioned, a Shadowknight would probably be best. Both SK's and Necromancers (and Defilers) do disease and poison damage so your debuffs would complement each other. A SK can tank so the Necro can use their DPS pets. SK utility includes evac plus you can both feign death (though a SK's FD only lasts a few seconds).

The Assassin uses poison too but would have to be careful and not do too much damage to avoid taking aggro from the Necro's tank pet so they can use their positional attacks. Assassin utility includes track and evac plus you can both invis/stealth.

Of the three options, a Bruiser would probably be the least effective partner for a Necro. None of their abilities really mesh well with a Necromancer and they bring little utility except for a long feign death.

Note that a Defiler does not really bring any utility except for emphasis on disease and poison plus healing (more warding than healing, actually).

Great duoing partners for Necromancers - Necromancer, Warlock, Dirge, Shadowknight, Defiler.  They all deal in similar damage (and yes I suggested two Necromancers.)

My husband and I currently have an alternate duo team of a Necro and a Warlock and it literally rocks.  PvE and PvP.  He has a tank pet, so as long as we watch how much damage we deal out and don't draw aggro from the pet we can take on a lot of things.  He can also heal me when I go overboard with his special Necromancer heals, and ressurection spells.

I wouldn't go with the assassin for necro partner.  You will definately have aggro and survivability issues for anything challenging.  If you more or less plan on doing all the solo questlines together it wouldn't matter what you play though.

Honestly, with tainted heals and a tank pet, the necro wont need a healer unless you go for yellowcon heroics or harder. So, I'd go with a dps class really. But not the assassin, since you cant use the hatefeed on the pet. :/ Stupid change way back.
