![]() Durring the many times I find myself looking at the "zoning" screen I've begun finding other ways to occupy my time. Lately, I've been looking up info on alternative video games....What do you like to do while you wait for the hampster to wake up? |

I enjoy waiting for the few seconds it normally takes me to zone, especially since there's no way I'd have enough time to actually do anything else. /shrug

He's talking about the up to 10 minute zone times on some of the servers. I had enough time to cook dinner while zoning into Fens tonight. Crushbone is pretty bad.

On that computer I run some Instant Messengers as MSN and ICQ... or I look through some forums there. But as said, mostly that is not needed.Femke. |

There was a night earlier in the week when I zoned from Willow Wood to Qeynos Harbor. I clicked the bell, went and took a shower, ordered a pizza, came back, and finished zoning as I sat down. Total time was over 30 minutes.

When the original Everquest came out back in the day I played it on a 133mhz computer, with god knows how little RAM. Everytime I would zone it would take almost 10 minutes. It got very annoying zoning into a place like BB only to see a train of gnolls coming at me, having to rezone to get a way, then zone once again to get back to what I wanted to do.

I would love to do that but I'm not starting a new character and I'll be damned if I'm going to pay SOE for a transfer due to their problems. He's talking about the up to 10 minute zone times on some of the servers |

I've enjoyed reading a book while waiting on zoning, or the broker to catch up with the item I've purchased or put up for sale. I've read more in the last couple of weeks than in the last couple of months.

Has it been confirmed that some servers have problems, or is it just that some users have problems and they've decided that it's SOE and not them?I've found that McAfee, just to name a single product, increases my zoning time, not to mention it makes launching the game take about 5-7 minutes. This is just an example of how computer configuration can impact your overall play experience.

If you tired of huge zone time you might want to go to another low population server. Never have any load or lag problems on Vox.

This is just an example of how computer configuration can impact your overall play experience.Following this guys logic you should make sure your modem is plugged into the wall and powered on. Seriously though or you could make an account on ab [since they haven't limited new accounts going to ab] and experience the load times yourself. For the last 2 weeks the wife and I stay inside a zone as long as we can and rarely use the broker if we even sniff it's busy. Doing either ends up meaning insane wait times or a constant reloading of eq2. It's also a joy to be in your inn room checking broker and having to wait forever for an item your loading onto broker to show up and being unable to zone until it does. 20 minutes or so later when the fancy yellow message saying you can't zone cause you have a transaction pending irritates you enough you reboot cause your sick of waiting. That's been my gaming experience every day for the last 2 weeks on ab. Guess it's my fault for playing eq2 after work and on weekends when it's busy. I should rearrange my life to play at 2 am. I have fun as long as I don't zone or use the broker. That's like digital russian roulette. Your recommendations were incredibly amusing though, thanks for trying. |

every so often, the UI resources seem to hang while loading right as the character is being added to the zone. dont know why and cant tell the rhyme or reason. its all different common zones, instances, raids, groups and solo. just a random aggrivation really. seems to be more frequent after an update or expansion but i couldnt give any kind of stats other than it happens maybe once each gaming session. just a little minor bummer but stinks when it happens.
