![]() Hello, First I'd like to say I wasnt sure where to post this, so If you need to move it to another place, great! Id like to start off with a little of my gaming history. I played eq1 for almost 5 years, was really excited when eq2 was going to launch. I left eq1 for eq2. Eq2 originally was very hard to play. I had picked a wizard and got so upset because I died often and felt so horrible when someone in my group, on the other side of Commonlands got penalized for my death. Rumors of World of warcraft started and it totally took me away from everquest. In World of Warcraft It was absolutly the best gaming adventure I had had in a really long time (since the release of eq1). They won me as a gamer hands down. When I play these games I play mostly for the adventure of the game and wow had exactly what I was looking for. Well now wow lost me because of 2 things mostly. 1) End game became about grinding faction /barf.. no thanks! and 2) when wow launched the last expansion while I was there they made it so cool that anything before that time became pretty much irrevelant. What I mean is: It no longer was important to do all of those hard quests to get great gear. Instead you busted your butt to get high enough to enter the new expansion and the beginning quest rewards just about doubled or better the uber gear from the old part of the game. Therefore the game became, bust your butt to 60, then grind faction.. = you beat World of Warcraft Thats not what I want, hense why I came back to check how eq2 was doing this past summer. I have been so much in awe of the changes that have been made to this game, I love it! This morning however I really got worried and I'd like to share with you why. I was playing a little toon in the new noobie area of TD. It is soooo great and fun! I also had logged on an alt and got all of my t1 and t2 gear ready for my new character to wear. But here is the problem. Once I went to equip that equipment, I realized that what I had got from the quests not only looked better but also was better for me to fight in. So normally this would be a fantastic thing. Well until my baggage left over from wow kicked in. The fear that you guys would throw out new expansion so quickly at us that it would make the old game irrevelant. Basically any toon that starts out in TD, all T1 and T2 rares are worthless to the tunes, with the exception of the rares that are used for spell upgrades. I hope you take the time to read this and give it some thought. I have a few ideas but Im not really here to give you ideas, but instead to tell you as a 45 yr old woman how the games affect me, in hopes that the game wont end for me on those reasons later down the road. Thanks for reading! Mello Yello ( Butcher Block) |

You can't even give away MC armor anymore. Loot drops, unless extremely difficult to obtain, should never be better than the best player created items. It completely destroys the crafting/trade skill aspect of the game. EQ2 is not the first one to head down this road. Crafting in other games has been useless for ages as well because the developers decided that more people would rather farm than interact with other players for their equipment and supplies. Sort of surprising to me considering they are developing for a MMORPG. ![]() |

I wouldn't stress too much as EQ2 is a very different game to WOW. On one hand yes, being 80 and getting fully fabled gear makes everything els pale in comparison, but EQ2 (for me) is more about the journey than getting to the top-of-the-top. IMO you want to take it slow and explore, and if you do that then you will find items all the time that are upgrades to the ones you have and by doing so you'll have wonderful time and really get to see the richness of the game. It had been mentioned that mastercrafted (made by players) items are no use as quest rewards are better. This is not always true and I have found that (rare) mastercrafter items can be a very good choice, it's not all doom and gloom.

![]() Well generally yes, but Im refering only to the noobie TD quests vs T1 and T2 MC... the MC is a total waste of time here, not once peice is better. I would just hate to see it become a trend later for other tiers. also found another active topic on this discussion |

There has never really been a need for MC items at T1 and T2 and you don't need to make them for levelling purposes (since you can make things from multiple professions during T1 and T2 so you can easily level on basic items). You can generally stay in the vicinity of your starting city during T1 and T2 so the comparison to other starting cities doesn't matter. No matter where you start you are going to want to get T3 gear when you move to T3 (although admittedly those starting in TD might be in a little less of a hurry than others). |
