For me at least.

I mean have you seen those items?

That mana item in particular is [Removed for Content] up the game.

Give it a few months and that item will be used to make the really hard encounters easier. That will result in SoE making the encounters harder and in turn making the items mandatory for raiders.

Oops, there goes the level playing field and equal opportunity.

This I find to be completely unacceptable

The worst part is the there will be no way to nerf the items later. People paid real money for them

Hmm. Raid lasts 3+ hours. Items last 30 minutes with a 24 hour recast. Yeah that will really really change the game dynamics.Bye. Sorry your leaving the game for fluff items.

If an item that grants you 100% mana and can be used in combat is your idea of a fluff item, what is an uber item?

I've stated my strong objections to LoN in the past, I'm not going to re-hash them here.

I will say, though, that the whole thing is pretty easy to ignore, & with that in mind -- & the fact that I'd miss my guildies ever so much if I cancelled my account -- I've decided it's not worth cancelling over. I just won't bother with it.

My guildies are the biggest reason why I enjoy EQ2. I have no opinion on LoN. Haven't played it much though.. *shrug*

It is not so much the items that are the problem so much as you have to pay hundreds of dollars for them

like most things in life, you have to learn to base enjoyment on your self.if it's always about being on a "level playing field" you'll always be sorely disappointed in the end.there's always someone stronger, faster, better.you play basketball at the park with your friends because you enjoy it. you don't say "i'm not going to play basketball anymore because i can never be as good as (insert a nba player here)".eq2 should be no different. play it because you enjoy it for what it is. if you can't, then it's time to move on.

That's like saying I am going to quit this game because I cannot afford the really good adornments that others can afford because they play more then me.It's something else in the game that makes someone else stronger. Now remember also, these items are single person use only. They are not group/raid.The full mana thing. You honestly think EVERYONE in the raid will get it? The chances of that I would love to see. You think a guild will get their members to pay money until they get that item or they cannot raid? I am in beta and I got 2 items for claiming. My wife is also in beta and as only gotten 1 item. (We were both at fan faire).I got the extra dps by 9.9 for 30 minutes and something that will gate me to the Inn of my choice (not sure how it works yet). She got the same first item as me. Is that going to make her a even more wanted Conjorur in raids?

No, it won't.

And even if it does become "required" for high-end raiding....that won't be the end of EQ2.

I want to see your numbers.  How many have you been able to acquire in beta?  You must be getting them every twenty minutes to be able to say that it will be a realistic requirement.I bet you don't have any numbers though and this is just really about someone else getting a mount you want.

Exactly. There's more to EQ2 than raiding.

Hey genious.

You wont have to pay a darn thing if you dont want to.If you would actually do a minute's worth of research instead of squeeling like a stuck pig you would see that the rewards will also drop *gasp* IN GAME *gasp*

So save your dollars and farm away instead.  And quit whining.

That's inaccurate.  Many people couldn't care less one way or the other whether they get that card or not.  So saying the game is over for anyone who will not or cannot pay for it is incorrect.

Further, booster packs will drop from mobs, albeit rarely.

TIME

Let me spell it out for you again....

T

I

M

E

!!!!

Give it some - its only in Beta - and guess what when the actual game kinks are worked out these items will end up on the broker and you can spend your plat on them. Granted the power elixer is gonna be in the 100's of platage.. but come on it is only castable once in 24 hours. If it was any more often then MAYBE I would complain. But really - that is only once in every raid. They are REALLY REALLY RARE! There are people who have already paid hundreds and hundreds of dollars trying to get one and still haven't.

Patience please.

Oh come on, it's at least the 6th or 7th since June... SMILEYTo the OP:Nobody, except maybe the most brain-dead, ultra-hardcore, "adequate and optimum are synonyms", imbecile raid/guild leader, is going to require raid members to have these items before allowing them to raid, and they even that kind of over the top min/maxer isn't going to force raid members to spend RL money on them.In short: These Items Will Not Be Required. By Anyone.Besides the fact that not everyone will win these items, not everyone is even going to play LoN. I've not played it yet, but I highly doubt that I will. I've never been into those kind of games.

All items are no trade in game.Mind you. You can trade the cards with someone in the LoN client. But how many folks are going to trade 30plat in game and hope that that person gives them the card in LoN?added: Oh and to clear up. The items will not drop in game. The packs will. But that pack will only give you a % chance to WIN a redeemable item and even then you don't get to choose it. So you can get a pack, but does not mean you get an item.

Oh it has less to do with a lack of guts and more to do with not taking baseless rants seriously.

Why oh why is all new content lamented by these kinds of people? If they had their way, all we'd have is the old level 1-50 stuff, complete with the plain-vanilla archetypes to level 20 thing, and LOTS and LOTS of those tedious, boring group-required-unless-20-levels-above-them and nondeletable "hallmark" access quests.

I still hate those things. I had one floating in journal for literally years and finally cleared it.
