Hi I was just wondering, what's the difference between roundshield and buckler? Does they have advantages and disadvantages over each other? Also why would anyone have a wooden shield in the first place? Is it for the rare case when a scout wants to be a tank instead of a fighter class?

The bigger the shield is, the more protection it gives. But, the shield has class limitations. Like, tower shield can only be used by warriors (Guardian and Berserker, think Paladin/SK can use those now too) Kite shield can be used by fighters Round shield can be also used by scouts Buckler can also be used by the priest classes. There is some items that actual breaks that rule, but its a good guideline. In addition, there is some skills that only work with some type of shields, like the buckler line for warriors, or the agi line for druids.

![]() Actually priests can use round shields. At least inquistors and templars. But the gist of it correct, the bigger the shield the more mitigation it offers (tower shields tend to be equivalent to 2 or 3 pieces of plate mail in mititagion) but the stricter the restrictions on who can use it. |

![]() There are 'some' round shields that are usable by priests, but the vast majority are not (unless they changed something recently). I think as a lvl 70 mystic, I've seen a link to 1 round shield I could equip to date. |

i see, it seems like the buckler is smaller or worse mitigation than roundshield. my main alt is a 20s woodworker, and i've noticed that an ash buckler only offers 100 mit compared to 200 mit for the roundshield....

Is there any reason that kite shields are still worse than tower? I think it's just the plate classes using both of them and equivalent ones always seem to have tower come out ahead.

So they are still generally in decent demand. |

It has a shield value of around 560ish. I don't tend to use it much since I tend to use 2H staffs and hammers most of the time.

Used the kite shield of course anyway since it has a lot more class, but someday I hope they go back to earlier tiers and patch it up hehe. Should be just like ya said it was in T7, same avoidance but stats tailored to crusaders versus warriors. Is there any reason that kite shields are still worse than tower?
