I was reading another topic in the Forums and someone brought up Lets have a couple quests for spells  instead of all being bought and sold or crafted.. I personaly like this Idea .. Perhaps 1 or 2 spells that you can only get if you do a long Quest for.. Tho I was even thinking perhaps have Someting like your Epic Spell Quests some Heavy Quests perhaps something you need a raid to get done so that you can can Get some Master 2 versions of a couple of your other spells not just the ones you choose every 10 lvl. .. Again I would make theese particular type of Quest hard to do that way not everyone and their pet frog have one..

I like the idea, every epic quest always has a weapon or armor that is ok but it seems to favor plate wearers. Where is the mage love?

There are already "quested" spells in the game.

And I personally HATE the idea of adding "power raider only, so we can be L33Ter than everyone else" type spells.

Spells that require a raid to get at all? No way, please dev's do not even think about it.  Limiting something like spells to only elite raiders is the worst idea.  All of a sudden groups will be asking "got so and so spell? no? sorry no group for you!".  Spells and abilities are the life of every class.  Limiting them even by one spell and suddenly anyone who doesn't raid is not good enough even for a lot of groups.  Soloable quests? Fine as long as it's a quest that doesn't require camping mobs that are limited to cause mob grabing and griefing.  Sure bloodlines and splitpaw had spells, splitpaw was easy to get though and at most required a group if you couldn't do the solo arena.  Bloodlines was tough but there are a lot of ways to get the spell even if you don't have the pack, and it was in no way a must have.  Some were nice and a good addition, but wouldn't be missed by others if someone didn't get the spell.  So please do not even consider making an epic spell that needs a raid to get, and is then a must have for anyone to get good groups or go on raids.

hmmm...well, I have a few personal thoughts on this - here goes...

I like the concept and theory of being able to quest for spells IF the person doing the quest actually can select something useful to them. As a mage it sucks to have almost every quest item being armor or weapon in class. With that said, there also needs to be a balance between casual and hardcore player.

If these quest were to come into play they should be available in 3 variations -

1. Solo: Master I

2. Heroic: Master II

3. Epic: Master III

I have multiple toons geared and trained for different things. I have the toons I like to solo with and the toons I like to raid with. Lets face it, I dont need uber gear and such on my casual toons and quite honestly no casual player does. If you arent raiding why pay for or even contemplate going after raid gear. If you are hitting solo or group mobs with a full mastered/fabled toon you are going rodent hunting with an elephant gun so just stop the insanity. /steps off soapbox

Seriously, the casual solo and group players should be able to select an instance of the quest that would provide a challenge for them and reward them accordingly. The raiders should also be challenged according to the reward.

The only thing that would make this even more interesting for the solo players would be to have the quest vary based on the class requesting it. IE. more fighting and use of combat for fighting classes - more use of intellect and strategy for mage/caster classes. Going on a solo quest against a mob that can take you out in one hit because you dont have the hp to withstand that first attack is seemingly unbalanced.

Just my 2 cents.

The had something similar in GoD expansion in EQ1 and everyone hated it -- almost noone ever got the spells unless you raided.

They did the same garbage in OOW with RUNE and a lot of people ended up never getting key class spells -- personally I think they we get our spells now is JUST FINE.

If you want to raid for your spell go play EQ1 -- I like the way they are now and that does not need to be changed to make the raiding crowd happy.

I've never understood, why care what other people have? Anyway I agree with Galeden, I like quests so as long as its soloable, great.
