Hey Everyone, Its been almost two weeks since I have played. It seems that this happens a lot to me, I'll play for a month or two and then completely almost stop. I wish I could keep into it. I love the game, its just like it looses its appeal. Anyone have any ideas : )

When the grind gets to me I'll take some side roads and do some mindless lore and history type quests that may amount to nothing more than reading a story from a book and visiting places. Helps me build some history to my character until I'm ready to hit the grindstone again. And honestly, theres nothing wrong with taking a break. It may be a week or two or a month, whatever helps.

Yeah the pattern i see is you have no idea what to do cause you try out nothing else. Why should we convince you to stay? If all you do is writ then its time for you to go.

Nice response...not. He was asking for advice on how to liven things up, not for us to convince him to stay. I would have to say that while writs have their benefits, they tend to get dull after a while. I'd have to agree with the poster who said to focus on fun stuff rather than "productive" quests for a while. Some time away from the game really does help if you feel burnout coming on. Anything can get old if you overdo it, and it's a shame with EQ2 because there's a lot of great content to explore, you just have to pace yourself a bit. Many writs tend to require killing hard to find mobs which can get irritating after a while, and they turn me off as well. L&L quests are my escape from the daily grind or writs or HQ's...

My daughter plays the same way you do. In fact just this weeks she's finally broken the level 25 barrier. But she has fun when she plays so it's not really a problem. She just has other things she enjoys too.

It your level there is a lot you can do other than writs, which are kind of mundane. AA experience can be a lot of fun because you get it through discovery, quests and items. This makes exploring and uncovering your map a lot more fun. Collection quests give AA's and those extra shinies can be worth quite a bit of gold (some of them). Harvesting and keeping those skills up is important and the ocassional rare harvest can really help your bankroll.

My favorite way to play is to enter a new zone (for my level) find all the quests I can and just go around killing everything in sight and racking up all that quest exp on top of the grinding exp. I always end up with items I can use or sell on the broker from quests and lots of broker loot from chests that drop. I have a lot of fun doing this and levelling just happens.

and you can always decorate your apartment

A suggestion:

For a good change of pace, yet something that will contribute status to your guild (seems you're interested in that if you're grinding low level writs)  try getting a couple of folx about your level together to complete a Heritage Quest.  I'd recommend starting "These Boots Were Made For..."

You can get that quest at the Ardent Needle in Antonica from Hwal Rucksif, a dwarf inside it.  Through the various stages of completing this quest you'll get some good XP, AA, a lil coin, and a nice pair of boots for the level.  You will also get a nice chunk of status for the level compared to grinding writs also.  You'll find walkthroughs on various sites, as well as your elder guildies should know what to do.

You'll get a good sence of accomplishment and rewards for doing HQ's.  Its challenging enough to be interesting, but doable enough with a few friends to be fun also.  There are often folx looking to complete these with alts for the AA or entertainment & status, so you should be able to get a stable group to complete it, or do it in parts by using chat channels to let others know you are working on a particular stage.

Its a great game all in all, and you're way to low level to be getting stagnant already.  Definately change what you are doing and have some fun with it.

Well, I would say that is your problem with getting bored then.  If the only aspect of the game you're experiencing is completing writs then I don't blame you for wanting to quit.  Personally, after I do about two or three in a day I want to pull my hair out.

You should do some crafting, create an alt, go dungeon crawling or something.

The above posters have all made great suggestions.  At only level 23 there is so much to see and do.  Dont get yourself caught up in the grind. Check out www.eq2i.com and look for some level specific solo timelines that you can complete on your own.  Decent rewards and at least you'll feel like your doing something, earning AA and exp along the way.  Go LFG and try some new places.  Writs are good to do occasionally, but that shouldn't be all your doing.

Thats sort of cruel...why answer a question like THAT??? He wants to know how the game could get better for him (or something like that...more enjoyable there we go!)

Well to the OP...you could try questing or grouping lol seems like healers get into groups easily...especially Furies because they can be dps if there is a better healer in group

You also might want to take advantage of the free server move coming soon if you dont like everfrost or just cant find a group there...i know how it feels when your server has a low population (was on a lower population server on EQ1....dunno about everfrost's population)

The above are all great suggestions. Doing HQ's is good if you want guild status as mentioned, the reason I suggested them as a possible issue is if you get caught up in the need to do them constantly, it can get a little irritating as well (lotsa heroics, rare spawns, gathering, etc). They can be fun and rewarding if you do them with a good group of folks, though, and when I was running our guild we tried to make arrangements to have groups doing certain ones so folks could tag along if they wanted to. If you have EoF, "In Honor and Service" is another good and easy HQ to do and you don't have to be very high level to do it (Level 15 or so I think is sufficient as long as you're in a group...)

Is this a joke? There are so many different things to do that you have to have serious ADD to get bored with this game.

oh, DEFINETLY take a break from writs...  they get SO tedious... at your level, run out and get some Legend & Lore quests.  They'll help you later down the line!  Also, there's collection quests and don't forget the HQs which usually draw out across levels. the 20's are a blah range usually...  most people hit 20 and it seems to take FOREVER before you get to 30... and, contrary to the belief of a few people, it's OK to go out and do something IRL...  SMILEY

I’ve been playing almost 2  years and that is my general cycle. I play it like crazy for a few months…every free minute I can spare. Then one day, out of no where I realized I need to take a break because it’s getting tiresome. I then take either a few weeks or a few months off to focus on other things and play games that require less “time” Then one day during that break I decide to log back in and get addicted all over again. It’s fun : )

I find the 20s go by way too fast and have to keep combat exp turned off to prevent my quests from going gray on me. Gotta get that AA exp ya know.
