Plat tells are not as bad as what I thought they were in EQ2....after watching a friend play in another game and seeing the sheer volume of tells they get and spam in their channels....

EQ2 does not have a problem with spam in my opinion.  My opinion has been different in the past...nice things about opinions is that they are static and not written in stone.

I have been impatient with EQ2.  I can see that now.

The changes to the GRT are a long time coming and I think overdue, nonetheless, I applaud those folks who oversaw and worked on getting those changes done.  Thank you for listening to customer opinions.

There are always going to be things needed in a game that is, like opinions, also static.   The enivironment will change as will gameplay.

I think EQ2 is still very much the best overall MMO out there right now.  No room for argument there, as it is simply my opinion and while it can change, I am not looking to debate that tbh.

Glad to be back.

I got to watch a buddy playing WoW and I saw the sheer volume and type of tells that he got and was like...wow....I am a bit of a wimp with all the complaining I did about one or two tells a day....

Now I am not attacking WoW or anything but...he was getting several long winded and annoying tells an hour....some days were worse some were better, but overall he said and showed me how it typically was.

So, having come back with....perspective....yeah...perspective (thanks Tallika)....I am honestly that much more happy that I call EQ2 my MMO home. I am also happy that I have a PC and not a Mac....like my buddy...his only choice is WoW.  He would play EQ2 if he could, but unless I give him my PC as a hand me down...it wont happen.

That's interesting ... that's sort of a "new" phenomenon, at least by my experience with WoW -- which, admittedly, ended last August. But in roughly 14 months of playing WoW, I never got a single tell from a gold seller, nor do I remember it being a major complaint on the forums. Apparently, either things have changed considerably, or else the plat tell spammers just weren't active on Muradin & Uther when I was playing WoW.

What was a major complaint on the forums, however, was "Chinese Gold Farmers", who were almost always presumed to be using bot macros, speed hacks, & teleport hacks to solo named instance mobs.

In any event, welcome back, Sai SMILEY

Im still up for the option of capturing 1 beating the hell out of em with an aluminum bat and sending him back to wherever their headquarters are stationed at like china or whatever. Do that to about 12 of em and they'll get the picture.

I currently play EQ2, Vanguard, CoH and played EQ until around Christmas.  The only place I get tells and emails for plat sales is in EQ2.  Maybe it's just easier to do here and in WoW... something about the mechanics?

I still like EQ2 because my girlfriend can play with me here, unlike Vanguard which brings her computer to a screeching halt SMILEY  So, when I get the tells/emails I just report them and move on.

Welcome back to EQ2 btw.  I quit with DoF/combat revamp too and came back about 3 weeks ago to a whole new game.  Kind of like getting two games for the price of one SMILEY

Phayd, lvl 48 Wizzy (retired to sage slave status)

new toons:

Cirrce (Mystic); Honora (pally); Heridge (troubador)

I used to never get them in WoW.  In the past few months, they have gotten out of control.  9, 10, 12, 15 spams a night playing a session of WoW.  I don't even know how they are doing it.  If you try to respond to them immediately, it says that they aren't online.

I've come to accept spam if I see that the MMO company is at least trying to make an effort to control it.  I even get spam in VG which has even a harder stance.  They are like those little ants around my house that just won't go away.

Do you know how many people are in China? You'd need to do that to at least 50 of them.

When you learn a new word, please look it up in the dictionary.

Static means: motionless, at rest, not changing.  So it would be the same as written in stone.

The word(s) you were looking for was "changeable, or flexible," not static.

I do not say anything when people make typos or use bad grammer; however, lets keep the correct

definition/meaning for the words themselves.

I just came back my self ( starting over from scratch) after a year in the same game.    It IS bad there and getting worse by the day.   Even on low load servers the off game marketeers spam you in game with characters they delete after and your mail box.  It was not unusual for me to log on to get an entire page of messages telling me that players were removed from my ignore list because they no longer existed.   It was not my main reason for coming back to EQ2 but it helped.

Does it really matter? Everyone here could tell from the nature of this post what he actually meant, but no one else deemed it necessary to point this out. I'd call you a troll but you'd no doubt start tapping that little dictionary of yours again SMILEY

Yes, it really matters - we are talking the actual meaning of a word.  Many people on these boards are

either non-native English speakers learning the language or young people in the process of learning English.

These people will see many instances of correct syntax and spelling so no permanent damage is done in the case of bad grammer; however, once they learn the wrong meaning for a word it is almost impossible to unlearn it.

P.S.  I'm sort of a troll - I'm a high school teacher.  I spend a lot of time helping kids unlearn what was

learned incorrectly.  Also learning the correct meaning of the word here and now is much kinder and

gentler (and less embarassing) than learning it after he uses it in an email to his boss or making a presentation to a group.

While you're at it, perhaps you should add a disclaimer for your use of the word "troll". By your own logic, a "troll" is sort of a high-school teacher, who helps kids unlearn what they have learned correctly. A young child may think there is nothing wrong with referring to a teacher as a troll; and, as we all know, once the wrong meaning for a word has been learned, it is almost impossible to unlearn it.

I'm willing to bet that Saihung23 meant to write " ... they are NOT static and not written in stone." It's thus a much more credible inferrence that he merely typo'd, than that he just now learned a new word.

It is very nice, I came to EQ II thinking it was going to be just like WoW with the gold sellering... I find it very annoying to be in the middle of something in any game and some random person sends you a tell about buying in game money's. So far I have no encountered this with EQ II helps me enjoy the game much more SMILEY

Nope, my brain farted and static came out.  lol.  [Removed for Content] you high school teachers!  /shakes fist

One day I will completely mangle the English language and none of YOU will stop me!

Meh. <----not a real word...but....meh....I dont care SMILEY

All things considered,  I am happy to be back here having someone correct me on my use of a word....not a new one unfortunately....at my age I don't come across too many new words.

Have a great day, and enjoy the game. SMILEY

P.S.  I am sorry, this will not be the last time my spelling, word usage, or grammar is going to rankle your senses.  My use of dots alone is enough to send most adults into a tizzy.

But irregardless, Welcome Back Sai!
