Will the "name wipe" initiative happen for all servers or simply the merged pvp servers?

Thank you for the PvE to PvE server transfer.  My server was to the point where I wasn't going to resubscribe next month.  Now, I'm excited about moving to a different server that has more players.

Greetings, everyone. I wanted to offer an update for where we are on the state of the EU PvP servers.

3) Once the PvP server transfers are complete, players on all servers will have a week-long opportunity to transfer their characters for free.

  • This will allow affected people who may have instead wanted to play on Vox or Nagafen the chance to transfer their characters to those servers at no cost.
  • Characters on PvP servers will be able to transfer to other PvP servers at no cost.
  • Additionally, characters on PvE servers will be able to transfer to other PvE servers at no cost.
  • Following the one week free-transfer period, PvP <-> PvP character transfers will remain enabled at the standard transfer cost.
Does this week-long opportunity only include one transfer or unlimited transfers for a week?

I have one question for the dev. team and I'm sure that I'm not the only one thinking about this.       how can we do to transfer PvE toons to PvP servers? Many of us started at this game long time before PvP servers came out and have toons that we love and have spent much time improving.  All those toons  are just sitting there in the PvE server 'cause is kinda hard to just delete a toon you played for so long and has such a nice gear.  Maybe SOE should allowed a one time deal for people like me to transfer those toons over to PvP servers where we now play.

You can't. And, that's as intended. Its far much easier to level up on the PvE servers than it is to do so on the PvP servers. If transfers were available, people would be level grinding risk-free on the PvE servers and then transferring to the PvP servers. Roll a tune and train in a challenging environment like the rest of us. You'll be glad you did. SMILEY

Anyone taking bets on how long this is going to take? If there is please put me down for 100 plat for being able to log on to Nagafen sometime around late May / early june.

Anyway any news is good news and all that, i just hope for once in the history of eq2pvp we are going to see some action in a timely manner!

One Question..

2) Venekor will gain the populations of Darathar, Gorenaire, and Talendor. We'll discuss specifics in greater depth by the end of next week and make sure you have significant warning. We'll be doing this step first to ensure that guilds that have advanced together, stay together.

Does this mean you will be doing guild moves over to Venekor?

Thanks for the update seems a really good idea.

Can I make one tiny wafer thin suggestion and that's:

The idea of being able to transfer off Venekor is really good and it'll give people the chance to do what they think is best for them. Howvere some people may get it wrong - it's hard to judge a server on 2 or 3 day's play time. Could I suggest that a couple of months after the transfer you reopen free transfers for a week so that people who think they've made a mistake can transfer again for a mix of gaming that might suit them more.

I think this way you'll have a happier set of gamers SMILEY

 Cheers

Though this might sound not only like a good idea but also a perfect example of excellent customer service, keep in mind the rmaifications of peole simply using that "opportunity to change their minds" as a real way of leaving to grind out as many levels, aa's and get gear as fast as possible.

I played on VZ (pvp server) in EQ1 from the day it went live and was on RZ (first pvp server to exist in EQ1) prior to that for a short time.  a little over 3 years later, SOE created a server called Stormhammer (PvE) which was a "special server" that people from ANY server could move to and enjoy additional content and service that wasn't offered on normal servers... for a price.  You could come and go as you please for the most part (1 months layover time).  You simply needed to pay the higher cost of the "special server" and transferring to and from the server was free.  Needless to say, people left pvp to go to SH to gear up, level up as fast as possible.  Get as much sellable gear like Fungi Tunics, etc that were prime sales items for people on the pvp server, they farmed plat, etc all to take back to the original server.

I need not go on.  i believe you get the picture.  Your idea has merit... but ultimately, it is flawed and would only invite more problems then present solutions.

The question about guilds moving a few ppl have brought up, is essential and in need of answer asap,

so we have a chance of moving on and creating new guilds now instead of waiting for the transfer.

Also i would like to know, not that its a big deal, but what about houses, equipment, money and other belongings

I'm looking forward to moving two characters off of a server onto Lucan d'Lere.  I play there or Venekor way more than I play on Everfrost...and I wanna play my bully er bruiser and my insane healer inquisitor again. I have pretty much been an RPer from day one..just picked Everfrost because that's where my sister and the rest of my family were playing. Moreless is not appreciated there.  /shrug Though...I'm looking forward to seeing new names to kill er.. meet!!

This made me giggle.  I'm sure other people on PvE servers really do have very nice gear.  But I recently went back to my former main on Everfrost to raid with her wonderful guild there and spent nearly all her plat upgrading her App 4 and Adept 1 heals.  Her gear is still deplorable and will probably remain that way forever.

Gear and spells never seemed as important back then because you could always just pick your opponents.  In PvP, your opponents pick you.

But I digress . . .

YAY!  This is great news.  I'm looking forward to meeting all the new people on Venekor, either in Haven or in battle.  The merge can't come too soon for me.

*giggles* Oh, very true that.  Great gear?  My fury on LdL has WAY better gear than my chars on Everfrost.  And with good reason..I'm in the habit of twinking out my char on LdL as if I were twinking a PvP character. lol

Humm. Two toon 70 full master on a dead pvp server...I want then back on a pve serveur. Even naked, even full app 1 i don't matter. Just let me bring her back home, and my home is a pve server.

If you can transfert from pve to pvp, than you can do the same from pvp to pve? Can you?

You cannot transfer either PvP to PvE or PvE to PvP and SOE has no plans o implement such transfers.

Dead PvP server's are pretty much PvE servers... so you're wish already came true! Especially since you cant transfer from PvP to a PvE server or vice versa! WELCOME HOME!

I do have a question for you Galenite(and I can't spell this morning), if you see this... Does this include ALL gear and coin?  Banked stuff as if you're betraying? If someone knows the answer to this...please..show me where I missed it. Thanks.

I agree the situation you mention is kinda silly as PvE and PvP aren't comparable (as the fact that I haven't been able to transfer my lvl 60 toon to a PvP server proves). However, in this case, I think I'm saying that I should be able to transfer my PvP toon to another PvP server if I don't like the one I've been forced to go to. I was suggesting that I'd be able to choose better where I want to go with a bit of info about where I was going.

I REALLY REALLY hope most of you decide to come to nagafen, it will be much more fun.

Right now Nagafen has a LOT of T7 players and have a steady player base, with the server merge it seems like they are trying to fix a dying world kinda.. but if everyone came to nagafen where its NOT dying, it would make it that much better, we have a few raid guilds lots of pvpers and everything is running smooth.

the more the merrier imo. i just want to PK all you guys =p

Venekor is not dying!  Sure the pvp isnt as good as pre Eof, but its still there to be found in abundance.  The sudden influx of players should make venekor beam as brightly as ever.  If everything is so perfect on naggy, why are you so desperate for more people?

Stop trying to steal away all our new friends before they even get here! =p
