Horses 101

Well I have spent the last 10 minutes or so searching and surprisingly haven't found the basic information I was looking for so decided to ask it here.

I am interested in getting a horse to allow for faster travel and because it is somewhat of a right of passage it seems but I really dont know much about them. I have around 4pp and probably 20,000 status points or so. What are my options? I suppose I just need to find the stables in my town (Kelithin/Greater Fay) and see the what costs are but I though maybe someone could give an overview maybe such as are all horses faster than normal run speed? Do some offer improved stats besides running faster and looking cool? Can my horse take damage or be killed?

Here's a pretty good link for the horses. (Not my post or site, but I found it to be very useful.) It details the benefits each horse has.

So far as I know, horses can not be killed or take damage. I'm not sure if something can "knock you off the horse" during a fight. (ie, make the horse disappear) However, once you have the horse it can't be killed or taken away from you permanently unless you sell the item that summons the horse.

Where in Greater Faydark can I buy a horse. I know I have passed it and looked at the horses for sale, but I have never come across it again.

It's on the green knoll or whatever it's called.Just as to zone into GF from BB turn right up the hill on the other side of the tent.

Green Knoll, at the bottom of the ramp where the betrayal quests are to get into Kelethin. there are a few tents down there. Take the ramp down to the Green Knoll, and act like you are heading to BB entrance...its right there.

I understand that this thread began a while back, but I think that you may find more info from the Mount Guide. It is updated more recently then this thread. If you have further questions about mounts, I would suggest that you continue your conversation there.Welcome to Norrath!
