I am at work, so I will get comp specs later when I get home.

I recently changed out my RAM. I had 2 512 PC2700 and a 256 pc 2100 all diff brands.

I put in two 1 gig pc3200 (mobo compatable) sticks of Kingston and now I crash all the time. The game will freeze for 5 seconds, or the screen will go black and the game will crash to desktop. Sometimes I will get a windows error report, sometimes i don't.

Anyway, anyone experience this, or anything like it? Just looking to see if anyone can share some experience.

 Thanks.

Your motherboard might not support the 3200 memory sticks?

Nope, checked that before I bought em. Motherboard supports up to 3 gig of PC3200.

Try lowering the memory timings in your BIOS.  Sometimes the memory timings provided by the memory are too aggressive for certain motherboards. --Ruab

Just a stupid n00b question, but isn't lower more agressive? I should infact increase the numerical amount to slow down the settings, right? Any suggestions where I should start?

Great suggestion tho - TYVM! I will try it tonight.

you are correct, lower numbers means less latency = more aggressive. Essentially the other poster was saying is slow down the ram, ie, more latency. Also, have you looked at your paging file? What is that set at? Also, try loading with just one stick at a time, see if you crash with one and not the other. Not all memory is created equal and you may have a bad ram stick.

test the memory with the program here:

download the ISO, create a bootable cd and let it run

By "lowering" i was referring to lowering the speed SMILEY But yeah, you need to slow down the memory. --Ruab

Thanks for all the feedback. I didn't have time to try anything last night (work, kids, wife, etc) but I did check the memory settings in BIOS and it is at 8 3 3 3.

I am starting to think more and more one of the sticks I bought came in defective. I will play around with them this weekend.

TY again all.
