![]() I just moved into a 3 room house in South Qeynos, but I need to find some *GOOD* lightsources since I cant hang chandeliers on the ceiling of the bottom floor room. I know that there are a lot of sconces and stuff made by carpenters that DONT give off light. Blackened Iron and Feyiron sconces for example. Can anyone tell me which lightsources actually DO give off light? And don't say "Generic Wall Sconce" either please. Those things are soooooooooo ugly and bulky.

I've also seen at least one comment that it was not tough to hang chandeliers in these rooms, just had to use a few decorator tricks. Well, I've tried it, and I can pile tables up and hang a chandelier on the bottom of a table, but does anyone have a formula for which combination of tables works best? Or do you have a better method for hanging the chandeliers than piling up tables?

![]() I use a animal cage from some quest in Qeynos. I place the cage, hang the light, move the cage. If I need it lower I hang the cage from the light, then pop the light down below the cage. Rinse & repeat as needed till it is the height I want. On a different note; all those threads mention the best lights, but what light sources are the worst. I'm a carpenter and I would like to avoid loading my inventory with the known lag-fest lights which might never sell. |

![]() All I know is that quite a few of the Sconces don't give off any light at all. |

Fulginate Militia Sconce (not the Small Fulginate Militia Sconce) emits light, as does the Carbonite Military Chandelier. You will also find the old "Welcome to your Inn Room" chandelier emits light.

![]() Well, for non-chandalier options, you're VERY limited. Again, the generic sconces and the paladin braziers emit the MOST light...cause they're big ole torches o' fire. Feyiron Sconces I believe do emi light...as do the carbonite sconces, albeit tiny lights, but light nonetheless. Bronze Sconces, while pretty, do not emit any light.

Iron sconces, tin sconces, and fulginate sconces all emit good light.

![]() Best non-chandelier light would be the player bought Enchanter's Candelabra for around 2g each. Some good player-made light sources are the Fulginate Militia Sconce (Level 47) and for reading areas the Iron Sconce (Level 25) & Tin Sconce (Level 15).

![]() Iron sconces are the best light for lowest lag inside the given level range, imo. If willing to go higher, the fulginate militia sconces are awesome lightsources, and not too laggy. http://eq2.bortas.net/ click the lighting gallery... if it does not give off light, it says so in the description. Has pictures and recipe info as well. -bort

![]() umm......I listed 2 others. My statement referred to what sconces yield good light. Said nothing about what anyone could make. |

![]() Woah woah woah who said anything about Lag? I've never recieved any lag from the lightsources before. And I'm not asking for lightsources I can make. I'm just looking for non-chandelier lightsources. I'll make them soon enough anyway. /shrug Thanks for the input though.

generic and paladin realistically are suited for the outdoors.I put a few outside in my "workshop".Is there ANY way to hang from the ceiling?I tried stacking tables and using the bottom of a brazier but the items get lost and you have to use the door retrieval to get them.I don't know what other person meant by the cage. It can't hang up there either.

Now that you mention it, Brigh, II also had a problem with lights disappearing. I'd forgotten about that. I stacked up some tables and hung a light from the bottom of a table, then removed the tables. This worked reasonably well, although the light wasn't positioned quite where I wanted it. But the next time I zoned into my house the light wasn't there. I retrieved it, tried again, same thing. I haven't tried again in different locations, though. I do recall reading a thread here where someone said they had some decorator's tricks they use to hang lights, and I'd really like to know what those tricks are! When it comes to non-hanging lights, I think the enchanters candalabras and the paladin braziers are best, although I'm getting pretty tired of both of them. We really could use some table lamps. (We could also use lighter walls, because the light is just sucked up by all this dark brown!) I don't know of any sconces that really give off adequate light. I have several of the blackened iron sconces in one room, and while they have a nice little glow around the lamp, they don't seem to do much to bring up the overall light level in the room. (BTW, the bronze sconces do actually light up, but it's only at night. I read somewhere it's from 8pm to 8am game time, but I've never verified that. In any case, they give off only a weak little light.)As for the lag that everyone keeps talking about, I have not noticed this. In my living room I have about six generic sconces in the fireplace, four paladin braziers, a feysteel sconce, two ebon sconces, about half a dozen candalabras, an ornate ebon chandelier -- and I think there are a couple of sconces as well -- and I don't experience lag. I hope others don't get a lot of lag when they visit, but no one has said anything if they do.

Yes, the mystic sconces give off light. Of course, it's blue light or red light, so it's not bright. Nice tho. Definitely not economical lighting on my server, but dramatic.

![]() And as of the moment you can get the candles from the valentines quest which give iff a reasonable amount of light for a table candle. NO-TRADE though so you have to do the quest yourself, but it is repeatable as many times as you want. See update notes for details.

![]() Actually, they're "No Value" so you should be able to find them on the broker, but probably not at a very low price. They are a very good light source if you don't mind the hearts. :smileyvery-happy:*Edit: There are 4 of them... a Love Candle .. a Lust Candle .. a Passion Candle.. and a Devotion Candle (just in case you decide to look them up) Message Edited by ielixzia on 02-13-200612:22 PM |
