LOL oh come on.  The evil shinys in Nek 3 are the best part about that zone.  Makes people more cautious when they are in there.

I thought it was a great way to stop people from running around and grabbing shinies while the rest of the group is fighting.  :smileyvery-happy:

I would personally would love to see this idea extended to all other zones, with aggro mobs of appropriate level ranges for the zone having a chance to pop out. Non-heroic^ for overland zones and heroic^ for the dungeons, aggro to whoever harvests it regardless of level difference. That would slow down people running around lowbie areas over the heads of others that are hunting for shinies, and completely prevent lvl 30 ranger toons from farming in bonemire.

Some of the "?" in Nek3 are actually traps.  When collected they make an encounter appear.

Thank you Chogar, I read the OP and just was puzzled as all get out.  Was that even english?  Well I mean, all the words were in english, but they sure didn't form any sentences I could understand!  Bless you for translating!

Single players harvesting would run across the issue just as often.  It would basically ensure that only groups could harvest. It's bad enough trying to put together a group for xp; I have no desire to need to do that to pick up a shiny.  SMILEY

/BOGGLEhow can you be "more cautious" collecting ?s that pop killer mobs?? How is one suppose to know which ? will be a colection item and which one means more EXP debt??? Once again Devs plotting to make people want to just throw their hands in the air and go play solitaire...

For me, I like surprises, I like things like this in a game as long as its not every shiny and it can't be as I have myself, never run across this hehe.

But yes, I like it when the world is unpredictable......It gets boring and stale to have the same old thing happen every time.

I would like more GM involvement myself, more 'invasions' where mob's are dropped in random spots to kill everything (unless the people there can kill them first).

Anyway, dat's my 2 coppers.

My apologies for the derail of the OP's thread:

Haapy wrote: "...and completely prevent lvl 30 ranger toons from farming in bonemire."

My level 32 ranger would continue to farm in bonemire.

I have worked my harvesting skills to 350 by harvesting every zone while gathering materials to level to 70 as a woodworker.  I and every other tier 7 crafter with a lower adventure level has purchased the expansion and earned as much right to be in KoS as the level 70 adventurer floating around Zek harvesting.  For every complaint about how low-adventure level crafters learning MOB pathing, agro radius, and timing to harvest instead of hacking through the content ruins game immersion in high level zones; one must wonder why the sight of roleplayer flagged Lord Whoever hanging off the belly of his spirit steed digging roots like a peasant doesn't make the same players want to rant about game breaking lack of immersion.

And by the way, at level 30 stealth does not work in KoS, and every MOB will one-shot before evac can cast; so any fighter, priest, or mage class would have the same experience harvesting in bonemire as a scout.

All the traps in Nek3, including the trapped '?', are the best part of the zone. If you're prepared when picking up a '?', then there is no problem really. It's just another encounter to beat. When you think that you aren't able to beat the encounters which may pop, then just don't touch any '?'.

A beautiful way to stop low level characters from farming high level collectibles.

They should implement this in every zone.   SMILEY

Are you serious with yourself? BTW, your signature will more than likely get banned. Just because they don't play the way YOU want to doesn't mean that they can't play the way THEY want to. Nice to know we have to roleplay by your set of rules. /salute

At any rate, back to topic, those shiney's aren't fair. They just TEASE me. I love the fact that they're trapped and hate it at the same time. Nek 3 is a love/hate with me. Love the challenge, hate the tease.

I remember the first time i went into Nek 3.  Like everyone else, i uttered the phrase, "OH!!  SHINEY!!!"  which was followed immediately by, "DONT TOUCH THAT!!!"

Yep, i died.  Yep, they died.  Yep, i learned.  LOL.  I like them.  Just another piece of the game that makes you take a moment to rethink the consequences of your actions.  There should be more traps in game.  Scout disarm is such an under appreciated skill.  If traps were deadlier, people wouldn't scoff when a scout asks a group to wait so he / she can disarm it.  "What's the big deal?  We have a healer."  I remember in EQ1, traps from treasure chests and what not could wipe out an entire group if they casually disregarded such things.  /sigh ... ahh the good ole days.

"Norrath is a dangerous place Frodo.  If you don't watch your feet, you never know where you will be swept off to."  (i think i got that right.  /grin)

It is a great idea - I would like to finish this quest however, so I think after a successful clearing of Nek3 one night, i'll take off all my armor, wait 2 mins, and go from back to front, picking up every shiny.
If I die, who cares.  I'll go back to the front, run back in to where I was, and work my way back some more till I find another shiny, pick it up, die, run back again.
When I finish the collection, WHEEEE!
No need to go back there anymore lol.

SOE hits Amazing Reflexes with Nerf Bat.
Alas, Amazing Reflexes dies from pain and suffering.
SOE's faction with The Brigand Community could not possibly get any worse.

thats awsome!

It doesnt stop people from clicking them. It makes the [Removed for Content] harvest 3 shinies near each other and we get 3 extra groups of adds. And we die.

Incorrect.

! = tome collections

? = traps OR the item collection (Thexian Artifacts)
