You don't have to dig to find the dev responces. They have created a way to see every post a dev or moderator posts. See if you can figure it out instead of complaining about somthing that is not really a problem.

in case you haven't figured it out yet LU is SOE-speak for nerf, wether ninja nerfed or straight out up in your face decking , all LU's have tweaks somewhere to ruin game play.

Really this isn't the appropriate place for whining. This is a brief preview for what is coming, all the changes that will be included in the LU will appear first on Test. Constructive feedback is one thing, threats to cancel accounts, hyperbole on current issues are not

Station Account is Free.  Anyone can open it.  It doesn't need a game purchase or even credit card info at the time of creation.  It's just username & password and general info.  try it .. it's up on the top of your window [ > Join Free ].   That is a Station Account.

To purchase and play a game for monthly fee you would need your station account and when you register your new game (purchased) then and only then does it ask for your credit card info.   That turns it into a "real" account.  Since only then there would/should be real information on the person who opened the account.   The real information can then be used to ban said person for breaking the Eula.  Using one of the Trials doesn't require credit card info so there is no real way to ban them.  Since million others use hotmail / gmail and etc .. and .. there is no way to find out if they even filled out the info with thier real contact info.

yea, youre right about that, but even then there are restriction on trial accounts as someone above posted, so either way i really dont see how this will effect the number of gold sellers. (not directed at you btw, just a general statement).on a separate note:

Trial of the Isle players:
- Cannot send /tells to players on other servers or games
- Must be on someone's friends list in order to send /tells to them
- Cannot trade with other players
- Cannot be invited into guilds
- Cannot create a guild or assist in the creation of a guild
- Cannot purchase items from the broker or from consignment vendors
- Cannot list items for sale on the broker
- Cannot send or receive in-game mail
- Cannot talk in server-wide chat channels (level channels, class channels, etc.)

The problem we are having with tells selling gold in game now are accounts created with Buddy Keys, I believe, or they are actual purchased accounts. So, don't give away your Buddy Keys to plat sellers and don't sell them.

Obviously, the best solution to plat selling is to not buy plat and do not tolerate anyone that does.

That's correct.  Play the Fae is under the same restrictions as Trial of the Isle.  Some of the restrictions (about creating guilds, buying from brokers, etc.) probably make a bit more sense now :smileyhappy:

There will be at least one additional restriction: Play the Fae accounts will not be able to purchase player housing.

Is there going to be another "discuss the update" thread when there's more meat to it?  I'll be honest, I don't consider either of the two items listed in the preview a legitimate update.

The Frostfell event is just that, an event.  It's not permanent and will be gone a couple of weeks after it starts - it's not updating anything really.

The "play the fae" is cool, but like Frostfell it isn't really an update per say?

Keeping my fingers crossed for more good news on the next update to the update!  :smileywink:

Game Update 30: Preview

Game Update 30: Preview
Welcome to the official Preview for Game Update 30! This is a season of celebration for Norrath: the plentiful harvest is in, there is a crisp bite in the air, and the joyous laughter of the sylvan Fae rings across the land. Even the evil races are in the holiday mood, observing the season with quiet contemplation, and planning the deeds and adventures ahead.

Frostfell
Frostfell is a Deepice celebration whose origins are shrouded in mystery. Some historians believe that the festival was started by a demigod during the Lost Ages, when all of Norrath was under curse and no gods helped Norrathians – save one. This one, whoever it may have been, visited Norrath in secrecy and hid gifts of food and other supplies around Norrath to aid what was left of the populace at the time. Since then, Frostfell has come to be a community event. The Dark Elves and other evil races also participate in this season, although they believe that the gifts are the result of their own hard work and prowess.

Frostfell is a time for families and friends to come together and renew their bonds of kinship, a time when food and gifts are shared throughout the community, a celebration full of singing and quiet contemplation, parades, dances and meditations, and chipmunks roasting on an open fire. Players can expect plenty of fun, quirky quests and beautiful decorations – both the store-bought kind and the hand-made kind. Plus, log in each day to claim your special present!

Tag! You're It!
In addition to the customary Frostfell fun, we also have a special treat for you this year: games of Frostfell Candycane Grab'n'Tag for fun and prizes! These games will start every couple of hours in Freeport, Qeynos and Kelethin. Everyone is welcome to participate – but if you aren't feeling so adventurous at first, feel free to hang around and watch the excitement from the sidelines. When you're ready to join in, just sign up with the registrar.

Here's how it works: All you have to do is pick up more candy canes than anyone else. Sounds simple, right? Well, when the game starts, one person is randomly picked to be "it". The person who is "it" cannot pick up candy canes – instead, they need to chase down and tag someone else to be "it." The games move quickly and the winner gets a prize and their name posted on the scoreboard, so don't lollygag around – get dodging and tagging!

Play the Fae
As you can see, there's lots of fun headed your way with Game Update 30! But we also wanted to mention a special addition coming even before that.

The EverQuest II team is extremely proud of the Echoes of Faydwer expansion. We're looking forward to sharing it with all our friends and family over the holidays – and we hope you will too! In order to make the expansion accessible to all we will be launching a new trial program called Play the Fae. Starting on December 5th, anyone with new Station Account can log onto playthefae.com (.fr and .de for French and German) and try out a new Fae character through the Play the Fae 7-day free trial. This trial is similar to the Trial of the Isle, but it adds the ability to start in Greater Faydark as a Fae or any of the other races that can begin there. Your first character has to be a fae, and once you've been in game and checked it out, you can be anything that Trial of the Isle would let you be.

This update promises to be filled with excitement and fun! Goodness knows we're excited, and we sincerely hope that you are too. So have a good weekend, and we'll see you in Norrath!

Frostfell is great and all, but I want extra slots on my account to REALLY create a Fae.  What about "The Estate of Unrest" and the Fae betrayal or evil Fae if you guys are going that route?  All I want for Frostfell is the ability to create a Fae on my account without having to delete any of my current characters, and not seeing this kinda puts a BAH-HUMBUG in my stocking.  Matter of fact till I see extra slots, Fae Betrayal, issues with the new combat system (like the tanks in cloth tanking better bug) and stuff that should have been in from Echoes of Faydwer (Estate of Unrest), i'll be celebrating over at World of Warcraft this year.......:smileysad:  (Not that its the place I would rather be, but at least it feels finished at the moment)  Seriously, I think you guys should have taken all the suggestions, from the beta testers, to push launch of EoF launch back a few more weeks, because it wasn't ready and still isn't :smileysadSMILEYmyself included).  Oh and how about getting my guilds website fixed, since the pictures still don't show and no one can log into it AT ALL, since EoF launch and EQ2players.com upgrade.

Maybe this is a small fun holiday update guys. The other stuff you want just may not be ready.    And why deny the holiday fun just because the serious stuff is not ready.

How about some snow flying and on the ground in the major cities and maybe antonica/commonlands?  That defiantely is what was missing last year.  Snowmans etc were out in the sun.  It just seemed strange SMILEY  I think that would really help Frostfell....  Make it look like Everfrost or something SMILEY!

A good example is the interview with Scott Hartsman from Online Gaming Radio. from what I have read, the plan is that Fae are a good race and in the future a stricly evil race with come out. Obviously I could be wrong or just speculating, but particularly strong evidence is when they ask Scott "With the expansion right now Fae’s are only able to select good and neutral classes. Are there plans to change that going forward?" and he answers "Well there will definitely not be the Fae, I don’t want to talk about to much of what we are doing in the future beyond Echoes of Faydwer, but one thing you will definitely not be seeing is a race that is called Fae that is able to be everything."

I searched for the link to provide and its here at the bottom of the first page. http://radio.ogaming.com/data/4235%7EEQ2%27sDayHartsman.php

It makes sense to me, a wholly good race not being able to be evil classes, while in the future there will be an evil race that cannot be good. I agree that it adds flavor to the game. If we have classes that cannot do everything but specialize in certain areas why not have races that are the same.

I also hope that the gameplay issues are worked on for GU30.

See there ya go. Stop complaining!! (Ofcourse, I've always wondered why those trial accounts didn't have their own server... Sure it would practically empty but it would get rid of the stupid plat mail.)Now its time for my one and only complaint. NO UNREST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why are you asking us for feedback when your 'preview' doesn't actually show a thing?  It's not even a tease, it looks like the text of someone who nearly missed a deadline and threw together something. It's Frostfell and there will be a few quests, a game and items to buy.    - This might be fun for a night or two if the zones aren't too laggy to movePeople can now try the game as a Fae.       - Unless you require a credit card to sign up, this will only increase spam to player. Is there an actual game update behind this? Are we expecting any bug fixes? Enhancements? changes resulting from player feedback?  The new expansion (which if it had been released as the original game would probably have doubled or tripled the player base) is fantastic, but after a month of having tens of thousands of us playing and submitting feedback, bugs, enhancements, etc... I would expect to see some changes in this live update.

They never show the whole thing in a preview... when you see a movie preveiw does it show you the movie entirely? Give SOE a break, because they probabbly have more than just frostfel, they can withold information about their next patch with they want to.

HmmmmmmmmI think these previews just manage to bring out every whiner and "Fix Teh Game DEVS!!!" people. The preview is supposed to give you a taste of interesting things in the coming Game Update, but all the whiners want are fixes to their game yesterday. I think, in the past, the previews were posted at the same time as the actual test update notes. That way you could get the taste from the preview and if you really wanted to know more, you could just check in the Test Update Notes forum. By posting just the preview, all you get is "Where is my class hat?" and "When are you going to fix my resists/avoidance/plat spam/nose flute?" The players want bugs fixed, Unrest, Fae betrayal and..... guess what? I'm pretty sure the devs do too.I remember hearing about the Frostfell tag game a couple podcasts ago and it sounds really fun. I still have probably over 100 snowballs on each of my characters ready to fire off when I feel the urge. The podcast also mentioned that crafters will be able to make a lot of holiday items, like fruitcakes to eat, and also to use as weapons! :smileysurprised:So, anyway, I would suggest only posting a preview when you can also post the actual test update notes.Othesus - Dirge - Lucan DLereVaspar - Fury - Lucan DLere

Some of you eggheads need to take a break from the game…

I can’t believe that you guys are crying over the game like it’s some sort of live or die decision that will change the history of the world… Freeekin Nurds…

Shut the heel up and enjoy what they have to offer or, for gawds sake, venture out from your hole and visit the real world for a while.

Oh yeah, Merry Christmas…

A very simple way of stopping the spams from platt farmers would be as someone else has said before is to be flagged as roleplaying/anon! Now i know alot of you dont always like this as it means if you are LFG your class is not stated, so for the simple part, if annon, still have the option of showing your class also this would be a great feature

.Also  when u go afk you are able to add a short message afterwards that people can read like "in the bath" etc, so why not have it that you can do the same when LFG, for example if u click on someones name who is LFG you could see a short message from the player like LFG obi/mc/bm/den. That way players could see what people are looking for before sending them a tell.

Now this is just an idea the option of having your class shown when you are tagged as anon/roleplaying makes sense (if u are a roleplayer, then u would want people to know your class/race if you want them to speak to you in a roleplayable way)

If people think this is a good idea, then plz say, but once again, dont flame away, SOE never seem to listen when being flamed, i know that for sure SMILEY

As for the update, like any update, its just a sneek peek, and not stating any game mechanics/classes etc that will be changed, they basically told a short story and we will all have to wait and see.

Shut the heel up and enjoy what they have to offer or, for gawds sake, venture out from your hole and visit the real world for a while.

Oh yeah, Merry Christmas…

Feel better now?

Well, since you requested feedback on the update (and hopefully on the game and SoE's performance on a Pay to Play game), here is my input:

1. Fix tinkering.  100 raws to craft 1 item?  11 rares to craft an expendable item?  C'Mon, you're smarter than that.

2. Fix your website.  Over half your website is bugged.  Not minor bugs either.

3. Fix our guild sites.  You have massive posts on your forums about people that can't log in properly to their guild forums.  Massive posts about pics and info no longer being on the site.  Info that your Paying subscribers worked very hard to get onto that site.

4. Introduce Holiday Style Fun that is even remotely equivalent to some of the things you did in EQ1.  Seriously, EQ2 is suppose to be a more advanced game, but the holiday content in EQ1 was (and still is) FAR BETTER than anything you've done in EQ2.  *remembers the halloween event where Sony brought the skeletons down for the Plane of Fear to wreak havoc on the lands of Norrath, all with drops that were appropriate to a players level (not this level 1, can be used by anybody junk).*

5. Work harder on your bugs and known issues than you do on expansions.  It's great to have new stuff and new areas, but if what you already have isn't working properly then maybe you are concentrating your employment base too hard on the areas that need it least.

6. Learn one strong rule before you do anything else............."IF IT ISN'T BROKEN, DON'T FIX IT!!!"..........taking a web site that is working (mostly) very well and to *impress* whomever, you decide to re-vamp the site into some kind of broken, half thrown together, junk site that has hardly anything working correctly?  Wow, personally, I'm not impressed ;P

Sadly, we pay for this.  Some of it, we actually pay extra for SMILEY  To put it in perspective.....if you buy something from ANY store out there and it doesn't work, don't you expect a replacement, a fix, or a refund in a timely manner?  Well, until SoE actually get's things working correctly, they should at least show us something for all the stuff that we pay for that doesn't work!  I really don't care what it is, one extra week of playtime added to your account, a free month, a free in-game xp and txp potion? Seriously, anything but another house item.

Anything would be nice, just to say "We are very sorry for the inconvenience to your service you are Paying for.  Here, on behalf of Sony, please accept this *yadda yadda* as way of us thanking you for your continued support while we try to fix these known issues."  Wow, that would be just too darned easy SMILEY [Removed for Content]

Okay, I'm done, all those that like to pick a post apart and those that like to just flame..........you may start.......Now SMILEY

Sorry I find it stupid when people give feedback, when it's asked, and someone seemingly gets vexed at them. Maybe they should have called the thread Game Update #30 Preview Compliments?
