Leaving because of the Robe of the Invoker removal

I really was tired of not being able to get the access quest for the Robe of the Invoker. I fooled around with that for almost 3 months. There were never any confirmed findings of the 'tattered robe" starter piece needed for the game and after a long while of searching for it i finally gave up. What a shame to remove such an item or make it nearly impossible to get when a large amount of people in the game have the Uber Mage Item. I have also sent numerous requests in to fix several of the wizard spells which were broken. They never were. I was a level 44 Wizard.

Its still in game, dropped for me on tuesday off a solo group of evol ews... on splitpaw. Been farming them for god knows how long.

I'm not sure what you're talking about, I got it yesterday. I don't know why you feel you're _entitled_ to a rare drop. Regardless, now that SoE has decided to legitimize farmers and botters with their online sales, I'm looking forward to paying a future month's mortgage payment with it.

I'm level 46 and have been trying since level 39 to get this robe. I check Feerrott where the rock spawns, constantly. I even camp there when I'm playing my other account, keep the wizzy in the background, and flip back and forth checking for the rock spawn. I've killed god knows how many lizardmen doing other quests (screaming mace -- spent at least 20 hours, no joke) trying to spawn just the Torturer.... nope).

The robe is there.... my guildie just happened to wander by the rock place and it was there. Lucky! She's wearing the robe now.

I also killed tons of Huups. The robe appears to be more rare than ebon.

Two in my guild have it, and although both wear it, I don't notice any significant difference in their power consumption when we're fighting, as compared to mine. It obviously does some good, but significantly much good.... don't know about that.

I keep hoping SoE will change the spawning rate.

Sorry to hear about it... But Berrik's is the holy grail for us fighters and quess what... its just as rare as your "tattered robe" Am I leaving after spending 2 months straight in Stormhold? No I said screw it and moved on. I might go back and mentor people but it won't be just to find that stupid sword.

The only difference though is that you can buy the quest starter off the broker. The tattered robe starter is no-trade which makes it that much harder to get.

I think that the robe is too overpowered anyways. Not asking for it to be nerfed but really think about it. The Robe is used by a large number of lvl 50 players and the Robe cons grey to them. Not only that but Clerics give up their heavy armor wearing BP's just to wear this robe. It is tied for the highest power regen item in the game and the Robe con's grey to a lvl 50?

It should definitly be a rare item if it is so valuable to so many players. Should be 5x as rare as any ebon.

I have a better idea, how about the devs make every rare item in the game obtainable through the /claim command??!? Personally, I don't want to see every single freaking caster in the game with a Robe of the Invoker. Its a nice robe yes, but it should be a special and hard to obtain robe also.

I am not after the robe in any manner (for now at least) but what is dumb about it is that the hard part is to get the starter for it. A quest should be hard to complete, not to obtain.

PS: In reply to making the starter easy and the rest of the quest hard...There would be the same complaints. I can't find the MOB or rare item I need for the quest..It's always camped...etc...etc... So you se the fact it is so rare IS the real issue, not the implementation of the quest.

People would complain no matter what because of the Rarity of a item needed to complete the quest. That covers both the quest starter and ANY itmes needed to complete it.

Newsflash Just In: YOU DON"T HAVE TO HAVE ALL THE BEST GEAR TO ENJOY THE GAME! (Pretty obvious stuff, but for some silly reason needs to constantly be pointed out to people like OP)

How about work to get it, if you get tired then take a break and do something else. Hate to break it to you but there is no item in this game that will make or break you. Most items just plain dont matter. And 20 regen just dont matter that much, that what chanters are for.

While levelling normally in SH, my 17 Paladin got the Berik drop for herself, then a few weeks later lost the group lotto to get another. They are there, and its RANDOM as to whether youll get it.

I think it is overpowered too. I see guardians even wearing them for the mana regen. I personally think we should all quit because I am a templar and I want to use ghoulbane and kite shields, but I don't get to. SOE should change the entire game around for me. LOL Ok enough sarcasm.

I spent AGES looking for the sword of thunder and lvl'd past stormhold in the process, so i saved up 3.5 plat and bought one (a hell of a lot of money at lvl 35!!)... they were so rare on the broker i had to wait 2 weeks after i had the money and that was luckly...

And now that i can finally do the [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot] quest for the EBBC, offline selling has come in and dropped the price to 2.3plat... and 1.2plat is about as hard to come by now as 3.5p was back then.... waaaaaah... why didn't i just sit on the cash until i could actually do the quest... :smileysad:

I'd be 1.2plat richer now - ie have about 1.5 plat..... :smileymad:

I demand compenstion!

Oh, and i bought a cedar tower sheild for 60g the other day, only to read that kite sheild are now exactly the same as tower shields on the test servers as of today, so when that comes through to live my shiney brass shield (which was free .. well free as in it cost no plat, just had to raid death fist citadel.. and my gear fixed after) will probably be better... so another 60g town the toilet!!

Sony, your changes have cost me 2.1plat!!! give it back!!!! NOW!!!

Or give me a full set of pristine imbued ebon vanguard... it'd take that as a fair swap!! :smileytongue:

The Tattered Robe Drop is level limited.

You must be between level 40 and I think it's 43 to get the drop.

I got mine at level 40 of the Purple mobs in Feerott.

If you getting to this just because you are not able to get an item you are bound for disapointment and perhaps this game is really not for you.

I can garantee you that every "uber"-item you get your hands on in the game will in 1 expansion or 2 be considered mediocre at best. Remember getting your Epics in EQ after a long and often frustrating quest? Well, eventualy these weapons were also just a proud memory and something to fill your bank slot with (i never had the heart to destroy it :smileyhappy: )

I can understand the frustration when you have put a lot of time and effort into a quest and the rules completely changes after a patch but i can garantee you this is not the last time the rules of the game will changes. Just move on.

Why anyone would be so hard on themself not being able to enjoy a game just for the fun of playing and instead put all effort into a certain item or spell is beyond me. So what if you cant have that robe when a few other player have it? There will be many other robes even better coming along in the game.

Dont get me wrong, im not trying to bash you. Im just saying thay maybe you should give yourself a break and put alittle more energy into enjoying your character and other aspects of the game than just stribing for that "uber"-item that will be conciderer useless anyway in another expansion or so.

thats one thing that I think is a weakness of EQ2... you have like one uber item in a level range, that everyone backstabs each other to get... no real choices unless you want to [Removed for Content] yourself... And of course this ends up with everyone that farms for that item looking exactly the same in the end... (and those that say screw it not looking too much different) I mean, I like how you have chain vs brigandine, plate vs vanguard, and more ornate the higher the level, but it still seems so lacking, so... forced...

Hell there are tons of items in this game that I want, but would I ever quit cause I didnt get it? ROFL. How about work to get it, if you get tired then take a break and do something else. Hate to break it to you but there is no item in this game that will make or break you. Most items just plain dont matter. And 20 regen just dont matter that much, that what chanters are for.

I personally think we should all quit because I am a templar and I want to use ghoulbane and kite shields, but I don't get to. SOE should change the entire game around for me. LOL Ok enough sarcasm.

And now that i can finally do the [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot] quest for the EBBC, offline selling has come in and dropped the price to 2.3plat... and 1.2plat is about as hard to come by now as 3.5p was back then.... waaaaaah... why didn't i just sit on the cash until i could actually do the quest... :smileysad: I'd be 1.2plat richer now - ie have about 1.5 plat..... :smileymad: I demand compenstion! Oh, and i bought a cedar tower sheild for 60g the other day, only to read that kite sheild are now exactly the same as tower shields on the test servers as of today, so when that comes through to live my shiney brass shield (which was free .. well free as in it cost no plat, just had to raid death fist citadel.. and my gear fixed after) will probably be better... so another 60g town the toilet!! Sony, your changes have cost me 2.1plat!!! give it back!!!! NOW!!! Just move on. Why anyone would be so hard on themself not being able to enjoy a game just for the fun of playing and instead put all effort into a certain item or spell is beyond me. So what if you cant have that robe when a few other player have it? There will be many other robes even better coming along in the game. Dont get me wrong, im not trying to bash you. Im just saying thay maybe you should give yourself a break and put alittle more energy into enjoying your character and other aspects of the game than just stribing for that "uber"-item that will be conciderer useless anyway in another expansion or so. Miral Tester Join Date: Nov 2004 Posts: 652	thats one thing that I think is a weakness of EQ2... you have like one uber item in a level range, that everyone backstabs each other to get... no real choices unless you want to [Removed for Content] yourself... And of course this ends up with everyone that farms for that item looking exactly the same in the end... (and those that say screw it not looking too much different) I mean, I like how you have chain vs brigandine, plate vs vanguard, and more ornate the higher the level, but it still seems so lacking, so... forced... __________________ yes I'm back, on the 7 day return to eq2 trial. to check out what the combat changes finally ended up being.
