You don't "loot" unscathed bones, you pick them up when you find a ? on the ground.

I have been a collection junkie since beta, and have never completed either my unscathed bone collection nor my gnoll bone collection that results in the eye, nor has either item been discovered according to eqplayers site (the unscathed bone, OR the Petrified Gnoll Eye).

edit: it's the weekend and I know that site takes time to update so I might give you the benefit of the doubt til Monday =)

Please, don't start rumors that aren't true, or  at least post a screenshot or something when you reply to a question like this.  That way there's no doubt that you have what you say you have, and that it's indeed what the inquiring person was looking for.

Ok, yes it was a "?", and no can't make a screenshot because it has been sold....and besides my one that was for sale on Guk there were two others also selling the bone. The top price was 25gp, which was stupid, and three days later it was still for sale. I sold my two much cheaper than that.

So it is out there, trust me. Going back to the same area tonight to see if the "?" will give me another. If I do get hold of it, I will gladly post a screen shot.

I've not yet seen nor heard of an unscathed gnoll bone or a "completed" Petrified Gnoll Eye on my server (Mistmoore), either; from discussions with others trying to complete their sets nobody has heard of one being found on the server overall.  That's not to say that they have never been found, or on any server; it may be that they're insanely rare.

It's there, I've collected one and sold it.  Just not common.  There's usually at least one for sale on the broker, but usually fairly expensive 10-25 gold.

According to the EQ2players.com item database, there has never been an unscathed gnoll bone found.  Maybe you guys are confusing it with one of the other gnoll bones?

It's perhaps wishful thinking, but I like to think they're keeping unscathed gnoll out of the game on purpose to give us illusionists a unique illusion that no other class will have (since currently none of our illusions are unique...)

I don't play an illusionist, but I've read about your plight SMILEY  It's possible, the forglok eye doesn't work presumably because they haven't been unlocked and so they don't want everyone getting eyes and wandering around as frogloks.

If I can go off-topic for a sec - illusions in AD&D could affect combatants if they belived in them - I don't play an illusionist, but it would be neat to be able to add a combat buff to certain illusions (Orc for strength, Gnoll for agility perhaps).

I am pretty sure you are mixing up things here. You are thinking about enchanted gnoll bone that was recently introduced into the game.

And the developer posting in this thread also show that no unscathed gnoll bone has ever been in the game so far.

Thanks for listening, SoEHow's about increasing other bone drops as well - like most cracked, weathered orc? Are/were there any plans to add a mastery bug quest ([Removed for Content]), or perhaps a sub quest for spider/ant/moth collection, similar to the butterfly one?

All I can say is WOOT! Two quests I will finally be able to get out of my journal. Gnoll and Unscathed.

Yeah, because if I get one more in my inventory, I'm gonna kill someone.  Heh.  Also, if you can get to them in Freeport area:  Try The Graveyard, The Ruins, and Sunken City.

P.S.  I think people selling these things for over a gold is lame.  Everyone crowd the zones and loot up and drive these overcharging jerks outta business.

Yeah, but the trouble is Nietsche was right... when you set out to do battle with the price-gougers, the tendency is to count the bone fragments, calculate the gouged gold value, and become a gouger yourself SMILEY

Gouge rule #3.

When a player intentionaly undercuts your gouge price by 50% - 75%. Buy their item and resale at your gouge price.

I had someone try and do that with spiders with me. He bought so many of my spiders, and I just kept on putting more and more up on sale, eventually he had to drop his price to closer to mine to make any sales at all.

Yup, same here.  I love to put gougers out of business and see them with their same 2 items at ridiculous prices for weeks on end while I'm raking in the gold.
