It is actually a griffon that you ride on.

As a brawler you get the screen up to choose where to go, FD, and then actually choose...that is the result! SMILEY

The bird becomes FD with you untill you cancel the spell, at which point the bird leaps to life and continues on his merry way. SMILEY

My monk had SO much fun with this hehe
