About 9 years or so ago, I created a tabletop AD&D character named Sylea Chrysalis.Who would have thought the name Sylea would have ended up an NPC character name for EQ?I so wanted to use it (after all I did think it up with my own head LONG before EQ was even around), But I can only imagine how many people wouild petition that.So, Now I haveFawne ArieaTeekahand Raistlia (yeah, female variation of Raistlin Majere, tough, Ive used it for years hehe) besides her last name wont be Majere.

Saw someone the other day named Tsunami......not very funny. A fairly low level char, so no doubt it was made after the tsunami incident that hit us mid christmas.Lets just hope its some lame @ss kid that doesnt know better.

My gnomish bruiser on befallen's name is Aynekl Biter. But he is...a gnomish...bruiser. Thats novelty right there. But if one of you wants to report me for it go ahead ^_^ I will still be a badout gnomish aynkle basher going about business as usual. A name is just cosmetic anywho.

Yall are crazy, names are names who cares...Why would u waste your time petitioning a NAME for sake of all that is holy....I have seen it all....and it doesn't really matter. If it was a roleplaying server I would understand....but other servers...who cares if you see a name like "Taunt This" or "Galaxy Quest".....or my favorite "Doctor Evil" and his friend "Mini Me" who is a human cleric inquisitor and a halfling bruiserI laugh at them...it is a game...play it all you want and name characters whatever u want!As long as it doesn't offend anybody it is fine with me....offend as in a sexual/aggressive/racial remark or word that stirrs sorrowful emotion in a person.I don't think names like Blow Meeeeeee should existI think names like Aragon...or Gandalph....or Shizzle.....or things like that are ok....in EQlive I had a character named Shizel Mynizel......GM called it offensive...even tho it was pronounced Shiz EL....not sell....mynizel was m yni zel.....but I guess how you could see that.I think too many [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot] conservatives playin this game....if you hate somebody for making their character the name they want them to have. That is great, they made a cool name for their character that they like and they are having fun. If it isn't like Uare Stupid....then ya know what...WHO CARES?!

I can't believe people are so petty that they would petition names just because they don't like em. What if I don't like their name? Can I petition because I think their name is [FaarNerfed!]? Do we have to get a majority vote of approval for every name on the server or do these pocket dictators get to decided for the rest of us? If this moral majority want to petition rude or offensive names fine, it violates the user agreement (and cuts the gametime of the sanctimonious arseholes) but but to petition because they don't like a name is just arrogance. I don't like them but I'm not trying to get em thrown out of the game. Their money is as good as mine, pity they don't feel the same.

See, I think that name is great: it's very clever and describes the character and his function. It's like the Native American custom to name someone after a trait. ("Dances with Wolves," anyone?)I saw a Darkelf fighter on the newbie Isle the other day by the name of "Darknyess". I thought that was a great name for an evil darkelf.I'll just state it again: Stupid or offensive names need to be banned. Names like "Duhhh" or "Errr" or "Ummmm" just have to go.

I have petitioned and several other people have petitioned some really offensive names on our server. We did get a response but these people are still around. I've seen an Oooo and a Mmmm, I just look at those as not creative. But when I see a Throatyogurt or a similar name, yea I consider those offensive. Petitioned both of those not long after the game went live... still see them around today. Seriously thinking it really doesn't matter as long as it gets past the name filter =

alright, here is the story.....i had a list of bad names that i thought were just stupid. so i sent in a petition with the list of names....here is the list

1. gohkew

2. hellokitty

3. crazyoleman

4. otto footballhumper

5. [Removed for Content]

6. Dingding

7. Fearthisevil

8. Baadkitty

9. Slipknot

10. Pippin

11. XXXXX (yes, thats a name)

12. Pastorbob

13. Cherritree

The GM responds...and says that I have to get my name changed as well!!!! Oh, the irony! My character's name was Cuestik Fauxlaterali.....a name I had used for years on eq1, and apparently a violation.

Apparently my name is too close to cuestick (something you play billiars with, incase you didn't know)....and I didn't even bother fighting it and just sent them back a list of 5 names.

The kicker is....I still see [Removed for Content], XXXXX, and Pastorbob still running around. That is honestly something I think is messed up.

it was funny, but still ticked me off.

In EQ I saw a high lvl Necro named Cana Worms. I grouped with her and she was cool. I thought it was rather funny. I saw a newbie name himself "Empororofevil" That was dumb and they made him change it. My names come to me and ive carried some over from EQ to EQ2. They have come to define me:

Rahsen - Pally in both

Kakura - Monk in EQ, reborn to a Wizard/Warlock (not sure yet) in EQ2

Arkan - Shaman in both

Drakora - Necro in both

If a name is just stupid, not offensive, you should not be so petty as to petition it. You must have way too much time on your hands. If your name is Joe Schmoe, I couldnt care less. Its not roleplaying and only tells me you have the creativity of a speedbump, but its not offensive and doesnt make my eyes bleed when you cross my screen.If your name is Crackhead Joe or Imma Ho, yeah Im sqeaking like a rusty door!I guess you could say Im on the fence about it. Im a roleplayer, but a bit more casual than most. It's a game and I like to remember that.I cant see wasting my time reporting people, unless, like I said they have a name that really bothers the sensitivities similiar to the ones listed above.With that said lets have a good time in the game and not sweat the small stuff SMILEY

I want people to have characters with names....not three word sayings, a sexual reference, or four of the same letters. And I find it humurous that you say I waste time petitioning names while you sit here and waste the same amount of time flaming me.

But its so cold where I live I need a good flame too keep me warm. But seriously I only post here when I can't play, re WORK, and it annoys me that I can't call my toon somthing without your approval. I agree that calling my wiz Ballsdeep Inyazz is a funny but inappropriate name and should not be allowed. I disagree with the fact that some [FaarNerfed!] retentive gob[FaarNerfed!]e should decide Cherritee is not allowed because they think its.........? What is wrong with Cherritree? Maybe its not original but its certinally not offensive. I guess names like Summer, River, Willow or Blossom are also out by your standards. What are your naming standards that we all have to conform to? None of these names are original but they are never the less real names, will you petition these people if you see them ? And speaking of originallity I notice that you have 01 as part of your station name, very fcuken original.

I saw a newbie name himself "Empororofevil" That was dumb and they made him change it. My names come to me and ive carried some over from EQ to EQ2. If your name is Joe Schmoe, I couldnt care less. Its not roleplaying and only tells me you have the creativity of a speedbump, but its not offensive and doesnt make my eyes bleed when you cross my screen.If your name is Crackhead Joe or Imma Ho, yeah Im sqeaking like a rusty door!I guess you could say Im on the fence about it. Im a roleplayer, but a bit more casual than most. It's a game and I like to remember that.I cant see wasting my time reporting people, unless, like I said they have a name that really bothers the sensitivities similiar to the ones listed above.With that said lets have a good time in the game and not sweat the small stuff

But seriously I only post here when I can't play, re WORK, and it annoys me that I can't call my toon somthing without your approval. I agree that calling my wiz Ballsdeep Inyazz is a funny but inappropriate name and should not be allowed. I disagree with the fact that some [FaarNerfed!] retentive gob[FaarNerfed!]e should decide Cherritee is not allowed because they think its.........? What is wrong with Cherritree? Maybe its not original but its certinally not offensive. I guess names like Summer, River, Willow or Blossom are also out by your standards. What are your naming standards that we all have to conform to? None of these names are original but they are never the less real names, will you petition these people if you see them ?
