Just asked this in the illusionist forum, but I am interested in what assassins would do.  If you could change from an assassin to a ranger by betrayal, provided you could keep your level, would you?  Lets assume most of you have a lot of master CAs so lets say that your CA's level of proficiency was not an issue, would you then?

I was wondering about this as well.  Do we just become "good" assassins?  I'm betting this isn't in because they haven't agreed on how this will workout quite yet.

Well the general consensus on the test forum is that it is very likely that class changes will result.  Anyway, what would you do?

I chose assassin over ranger because I wanted to be in the thick of things, not standing back like a [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] plucking a bow string.  Which class did the most damage, blah blah.. whatever. blah etc. never mattered.  I wanted to whup some [Removed for Content], and the assassin fit the character I wanted to create perfectly.

Yeah, I'm not the Ranger type.  I like the concept of the Assassin, if nothing else.  When I think of a Ranger, I think of Legolas.  Yes, I know, Aragorn was the ranger, but when I'm talking EQ2 and in EQ2 dude with a bow = Ranger.

I like my class, I wouldn't change it.

Well, Ive seen Rangers do 3 times the amount of damage over an entire night, so yeah, I'd consider it.  But I'd need to completely revamp my gear for int and also the cost of one night of raiding for a ranger is very high, not sure I want to grind the plat necessary to play at top form.

I like my dps relying on skill rather than procs + stream of arrows :smileyhappy:

Oh, and I can't stand Qeynos, triple the dps couldn't get me there

I highly doubt you will switch classes.  Would be much easier to add a vendor to sell Assassin spells in Qeynos, then to go through and have a method of decoding all the people that want to switch and recoding them all.  Secondly, it makes little sense that any class would be considered evil, rather then race.  As long as Queen Antonia used assassins to off targets of great evil, would the assassin still be evil?  Makes little sense to me at all they would let someone change classes at any level above 5.

never would i betray my class.
i´ve gone through a lot of things with my assassine, good things also as bad things but i love my class to much to change now into a ranger who only uses bows mainly.
let´s wait if SOE changes the assassine into a real death machine with Kingdom of Sky :smileywink:

lol.  Switching over to ranger at 60 would be kind of funny.  Just think of all those poor suckers who spent all that plat on poisons, arrows, and potions to level ranger 1-60.  Sure assassin has these costs too, but nowhere close to ranger :smileyvery-happy:

Our plans for Betrayal work out like this.

1) The betrayal path and level range in which you can betray your home town remain the same as they are today.

2) The quest does change slightly at the end.  If you are a non-native class in your new town, the end of the qust will also change your class to its opposite-aligned counterpart.  At that point, you are a person of the new class with Apprentice I abilities.

Later, as we expand the definition and role of Factions in the cities, we may be exploring the idea of faction-based betrayal that supports city betrayal at all levels.  However, we will definitely not be including that in this initial rollout of 1-20 class progression.

We'd change to Ranger if we betrayed under the new system.

I like to idea of being in the thick of the fight as well as being able to analyze my target. Then strike for its weaknesses but I also feel the appeal of the Ranger class. Like templars they can sit back... do very little and level.
