![]() I'm a new ranger (actually I'm not quite a ranger yet) so maybe my lack of experience is causing me to miss the point. Why is everyone so giddy to aquire a rare T6 pelt for a quiver? Is carrying 1980 arrows really that much better than carrying 990? Before you were juggling stacks of 99. Now less than 1000 just isn't enough! 1980 arrows would last an entire level at least! I could understand if the graphics showed a quiver the size of a VW on your back, but nobody knows your massive arrow capacity but yourself. Can someone explain why I should be able to carry a troll in my quiver?. Barabbas

![]() Can't speak for everyone here but every night this week when I've gone out and done some combat with more then a duo group (ie 3-6 or the raid I went on Tuesday) I can burn through 990 arrows (which was filling an entire bag for me.. I'm only lvl 2 ![]() ![]() |

![]() Exactly like you said. you are a new ranger. so until you do a raid like spirits of the lost than you wont know the importance of having ALOT of arrows. I myself carry two quivers, one full of slash arrows and one full of pierce arrows, bothy 18 slots cuz I dind't want to spend 3 plat on 1 t6 pelt. Basically on a raid like spirits or the living tombs t6 raid zone (as they are similar) I go through about 3k arrows and now that our AE's are much better and one is on a shorter timer they get used more as well meaning I can use like 8 arrows in one shot than another 8 the next shot after. Hope this help you realize that having quivers with alot of slots is very good to have. Leoric |

Aye, it's just a matter of character level and the content you're playing at that point in the game. You may not go through 1000 arrows in a night, but trust me, it's more than possible later in the game, especially for the 55+ folks that have Stream of Arrows. I counted up the ammo in my bags last night and I had over 4000 arrows on my person, and more in my bank.

![]() Also save your respec option so later you can make your Makeshift Arrows a Master II. The other spells you can choose from at that level are obsolete later in the game, but you can never have too many arrows. This spell at Master II makes 65 arrows every 10 minutes. Before I head out each night, I top off my arrow bag (24 slots) with the cheap iron arrows that are like 3c each. I never use ranged auto-attack so arrow quality is meaningless to me. I do however keep 2 stacks of ebon or cobalt arrows for the rare occassion that I run out of mana, and a raid mob has a wicked AE. Rather than try to joust the AE with the melee classes, I just equip the good arrows, turn on auto-attack and the haste buff. Happy hunting!

![]() Can you explain that one a little better? I was kinda wondering how Arrow Tier affects your attacks. Does the tier of the arrow matter when using AutoRanged and not for CA's? Time to switch back to the cheapo's if so. |

![]() The quality of the arrow you are using doesn't affect the damage that your bow CA's do when you use them. The arrow quality (grey or not) only matters when determining how much damage an autoattack fired, or now Stream of Arrows fired, arrow does. Indium and Cobalt arrows will do more damage on Stream and standard autoattack than iron or makeshift arrows, but on the rest of the bow skills, the damage is the same, regardless of the arrow used (assuming the mob isn't immune to the arrow type like piercing/slashing).
As the others have stated, the big bonus at higher levels is being able to carry 2000 arrows around, without taking up 20 slots in your general inventory bags. For me, after I get a t6 rare quiver I'll still keep 1 28 slot box full of arrows on me, but the rest will be in my 20 slot quiver rather than in another 24-28 slot container I carry around. It just frees up more space. All 55+ rangers, raiding or not, can easily go through thousands of arrows a night under the right circumstances.

![]() As far as I cant ell arrow tier does NOT effect CAs. It DOES (supposedly) effect auto-fire though I never use that so I cant be certain. However, if you are using lower level arrows than you should be you may not be able to even hit "named" type mobs but normal mobs you'd be fine. |

1000 arrows last a whole level? I wish... Last night in everfrost with a group of guildies I used 400 arrows in 40 odd minutes and thats without Stream of arrows as I'm only level 50. Nul.

Well, I mentioned this somewhere else, but I didn't see the point of spending about a plat and a half for a tier 6 rare pelt, when I could get a tier 5 rare pelt for about 20gp, with the difference being only 2 slots. I'm very happy with my tier 5 rare quiver, server discovery I might add, wheee.

The damage from Stream of Arrows is now based on the arrow tier being used ?? Is there a change to the skill description or Dev post somewhere that states this. This is the second additional change to Stream that was never mentioned in LU 16 or any of the Dev post. First I read a post stating the hate generation was dropped to 20% (nice gift to offset new range limit) and now arrow tier effects the damage from Stream. Can someone please confirm or refute this. I'm still stuck at work but would really like to know what all changed here.

![]() I dont think arrow tier has anything to do with stream of arrows dmg. Only your STR will make a change in your SoA dmg. if you switch out arrows the dmg remains the same when you look at the spell. Unless this has changed and theres hard evidence to prov otherwise. Leoric Level 60 ranger

Since I'm a post [Removed for Content] and have to put my 2cp in, I'll.... put my 2cp in. Even in T5, it was nothing for me to go through 1000 and up to 2000 arrows a night in a good xp group. So yeah, as you get higher, you will become more bow-centric (it's a word now!) and less melee. You will also find that you are getting into more battles that last longer as the mobs get tougher. I can go through 1k arrows clearing out the Roost in DoF. That's only about 40 minutes to an hour depending on the AFKers

![]() Hi Barabbas, I am a 55 Ranger and just the night before last I did giants and the Ancient tables in Pillars of Fire with a very experienced, chain pulling group. When the dust cleared, I had about 500 arrows left in my 24 slot arrow bag (used 1495 arrows). Admitedly a large-use night but not not unique. I am much more comfortable now that I have the quiver to keep supply my Stream of Arrows spell. Zeeman Longtooth (Permafrost) Message Edited by jacobagus on 11-11-2005 05:03 AM |

Well, i had a T5 legendary quiver made, 18 slots is really enough for me. If i'd get a T6 pelt, i'd prolly have it made to an armour or give it to my friend to make as an armour... 2 slots is hardly woth ~2.5pp imo. ++Xan

Before this change I used an 8 slot bag for arrows. I never ran out because I used my summon ability every time it pops (give or take a few minutes) and I use "rip" or "tear" on every mob at least once. Now I have a 14 slot quiver which I managed to get filled up last night and even if I didnt dilligently summon arrows each pop I still didnt empty it and I hunted for about 4 hours.

One VERY long day of hunting in silent city (very long meaning all day long, about a nice 14 hour long saturady) and just over 8000 arrows used, the push from 59.4 to 60, in one sitting used about 8000 arrows as well, I actually ran out and had a guildmate bring me some more since he was coming to join me for xp. My new 20 slot quiver is nice, but I had the leather from a loot drop, I still have never harvested a rare pelt in T6... I think I'm going to get a bunch of T5 quivers made up for various purposes, I mean I don't NEED 20 slots of slashing arrows, 18 works fine, same for crush =)

![]() [Removed for Content]....I think I do too...I have my [Huge Collector's Bag] , thirty slots, full of arrows...thats almost 3000 arrows, then I have another 14 slot bag full of arrows that come from Tear. Add into this my new quiver that only has 8 slots (Frack it all...I have a T5 pelt I want made into a quiver :smileymad:)....I am carrying at any one time over 5k arrows... But I dont think I am going overboard....on a good night in a good group/duo/trio I can go through a few thousand arrows. I dont even have SoA yet either. I just freak out with my bow more than my melee. Oh...and to be perfectly honest...I think I do have a touch of quiver envy now that I know what a T6 holds :smileysurprised: |

Do quivers actually show graphically on the backs of characters that have them equipped?

Nope
Personally I melee quite a bit. I use bow attacks near the beginning of the fight and then if something refreshes I step back and fire it but most of the time I spend melee since bow CA's are not available yet. Message Edited by Zutan on 11-11-2005 04:27 PM |

![]() Tbh I will buy a t5 rare pelt for a secondary quiver for slashing arrows (gave away one of my two pelts to one of the guild guardians) This way I will be able to swap quiver if I need slashing or piercing arrows fast. As it is now I hottbutton the arrows instead and one click em to swap fast but im giving up now and sacrificing one bag to hold a quiver so I get less mezz.
Got a t6 rare quiver for my piercing arrows and most mobs work with pierce so a t5 rare will do for slashing since I dont need to use those as much.
Thats how I do and will do.

I wish they would keep the bow on the back visually, even if you are doing melee. And when are them [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] quivers gonna get modelled? >_<

I dunno, personally I don't really want to show my quiver at all, and I'm indifferent as to the bow's visibility. Maybe if bows really looked any different, I might like showing mine off, but right now they're all kinda mundane. I like my short spear and spatha showing since they're both visually appealing weapons.
