Hey guys!!

Was looking for some help.   I recently purchased two ebon discs and am planning to have two ebon weapons made for my ranger.   I am told that they all seem to have the same damage rating and only vary in appearance and stats.   My agility seems good for now so I am possibly looking into one that gives additional strength.

I am a wood elf and do care quite a bit about looks as well.   Could I get some recommendations based off looks for both piercing and slashing?  Screenshots are nice to!!

Looking forward to your responses!!!

I like the slashing/piercing combo, and when it come to looks I prefer a Spatha/PGT and a leafblade/short spear.

Agree 100%.  I have used this combination since high 20's combined with PGT and could not be happier.

Do the crescent axe and leafblade give a bigger strength bonus or agility bonus?

The two combined are a balance between str and agi.  I don't remember the numbers, and I'm at work so can't check right now.  I'm sure someone else will be able to provide the numbers before I get home, but if not, I'll post them for you late this afternoon/early this evening.

all the ebon DWs have the same damage rating, and similar stats you're better off choosing based on what weapons you want to see on your char every day (honestly the leafblade is the ugliest and non-scouty thing i've ever seen) of course your goal should be having 2 slash and 2 pierce to switch out, but there are many different weapons in both categories that really only vary in looks.... the stat differences are VERY minor

I like the leafblade look.  Its like a dagger on a pole to increase reach.

to each their own, like i said, pick what you want to see every day, not what has a mostly meaningless numerical difference in your favor SMILEY

Ideally, you indeed would want 2 of each piercing/slashing weapons in your inventory.  My suggestion was based solely on hoping to get the OP the most versatility from what he has available.  If he has two ebons, then it would seem unwise to use them both to make 2 of one type of weapon...especially considering the price of ebon raws.  Cover your bases, then get your duplicates as you are able to afford and/or find them. I also like the look of the leafblade.  As a bonus, it consistently hits for my highest damage attack...in my 30's, I swapped back and forth between the feysteel leafblade, sai, rapier, spatha, and crescent axe.  Only once did any weapon top the maximum hit of the leafblade, and that was an imbued oak longbow. The damage rating of all of them will be identical.  The stats will also be very similar, but there will be trade-offs on each one....one will offer more str and less agi, while choosing another will reverse that. Fennir's right in that you should choose whichever you like looking at the most.  If you're comparing one ebon piece to another, the numbers are so similar that they are nearly meaningless.  Just feel fortunate that you actually have this choice available to you....:womanwink:

Player crafted ebon weapons aside as I know they are some of the best, but what is the recommended strategy for carrying weapons through out our 40's?

2 Piercing and 2 slashing legendary and above?
What's the reason?

Cheers,

If I properly understand the meaning of your question, the issue with piercing/slashing actually begins in our 30's with mobs like Varsoon, Torig, Fyst(Fist?), etc.  Most epic mobs require weapons of legendary value or better, plus have an immunity to either piercing or slashing damage.  In addition, some regular heroic mobs are immune to one type of the other, eg. Varsoon is immune to piercing.  As dps is your primary(if not sole) responsibility, you never want to be in a situation where the mob is immune to all attacks available to you.  This is the same reason that you should always carry a good supply of all types of arrows(piercing/slashing/crushing) with you at all times. I hope this is what you meant.

Are these the items you have equipped on the right character in your sig?

Actually, no.  The spear in the sig is a 'feysteel ornate spear', and the crescent axe is a player crafted feysteel crescent axe.  I'll try to remember to post a screenshot of the ebon ones tonight.  The ebon leafblade is shorter, and much more ornate...oddly enough...with a very detailed blade with scrollwork.  The ebon crescent axe as well has a more detailed blade with 2 arched horned-looking things protruding from the shaft in the opposite direction from the blade.

Go with a axe for sure the slashing fabled are few and far between!  From what ive seen there are two fabled slashing that can drop to be paired with a prismatic weapon.

Once your up to the point of raiding youll need a set of pierce and a set of slashing.  The  ssoy can be paired with a ebon axe and the sbd can be paired with a leafblade.  Then the heritage weapons can be replaced by fabled gear down the line and of course the prismatic weapon SMILEY

Unless you didn't do ssoy and sbd heritages then you only want one peircer and one slasher made (and imbued!) from ebon.  It's been parsed and proven that having 2 of the same proc from imbued weapons does NOT make you proc more.  And while sample was too low to say definately it's belived to actually LOWER proc rates to have two imbued.

Also for mobs that aren't immune you can't beat the ebon leafblade, it spanks all the other ebon choices as it has the highest delay making it proc considerably more often.

Wow, thanks for all the great info everyone!

I think I've been sold on the leafblade and strongly consider the axe, I like that look as well.

REALLY appreciate the picture and welcome any other screenshots.

I gotta agree with Kaeros. The lines are so beautiful, the detail is exquisite, and really looks like it can do some damage... The weapons pretty nice too SMILEY

Hehehe, mission accomplished. SMILEY

The leafblade does look really nice, though... I'm not such a fan of the axes, but I've used spears for most of my career so far. Just out of curiousity, Zho, did you harvest that ebon or just buy the crafted weapon off the broker?

I actually bought the leafblade.  My luck hasn't been all that great in harvesting ebons so far.  I'd be grateful if you could tell me where I could find some, though!  :womanvery-happy:
