![]() I was planning on becoming a ranger when I reached the appropriate level. I have always dreamed of a game that a bow user (my kind of playstyle) would NOT be the ugly duckling of the game. Now that im nearing the level im afraid. Stealthed positional shots with a bow...isnt that a little difficult during combat? especially with the length that mobs last? im very worried that a ranger here is going to end up like a ranger in most other games...situational bow use and majority melee attacks. Tempted to be an assassin now because I can atleast position myself around the mob a great deal easier...hoping someone can convince me otherwise..as I have yet to play either class...and with only 4 character slots...making both would be difficult to sustain I suppose.

![]() difficult? You can melee attack WHILE Hunt is casting if you turn off melee in time -- Also, Stalk drops you into hide VERY quickly. No, these attacks aren't difficult to carry off. And they comprise only a small number of our overall archery attacks. Don't worry about it.

![]() You get two attacks that put you into stealth, Shrouded Strike, and Stalk. Being a ranger is a lot more than just pressing the taunt button, or pressing the nuke button, or pressing the heal button. It's about using a combination of all your skills to get max ability.

![]() Kagara is right, it's about knowing what combinations are the most effective at dealing the most sustainable amount of damage. Having a group that is scout friendly and can position a mob so that a Ranger can not only get behind the mob but has room to safely fall back a few steps to fire off a few bow shots, is extremely effective. Play around on "grey" mobs and test the best combo of skills from opening dmg to activating HO's. As you gain new skills and new weapons, your combo's will change. Feeling out your play style is very important in making you an effective and in-demand group member. Once you get shrouded strike in the middle of lvl 19 you can use combat arts through out the whole fight, linking ambush, shadow blade, and at 21 shadow flame, when ever they refresh. Remember to have fun with your ranger and help others become better Rangers, the more informed we all are the more desired we will be in groups.
