What buffs do you have up?

I am only L21, so my buffs are limited. I still wish that all buffs are only 1 conc. With 2 conc for some buffs, makes some of our buffs rendered useless.I tried:- Rousing Tune, Songster's Luck, Bria's stirring Ballad (power regen) and Reproaching Discante (AE debuff). This seem to be provide a good defensive buff for the group. I occasionally swap Ballad w/ Arcane Chorus depending on the power left for the healer.- The combo of Rousing Tune, Merciless Melody and Songster's Luck - while good for offensive, doesn't seem to be quite effective.

just curious, are you using "performer's talent" ? that doesn't cost any concentration to use.

 

I use:

 

- Bria's stirring ballad   (1)

- Merciless mellody   (2)

- Performers talent   (0)

- Rousing Tune   (1)

- Aria of excitement   (1)

 

merciless mellody is the attack rate song, the picture of the big music note, right?

And any self-only buffs that dont require Conc points

Caster heavy groups I make sure to have

Bria's Stirring Ballad (App III) which does help tremendously DURING battle, but not much between battles

 

I sometimes have
Arcane Chorus (Adept I) going depeneding on mobs

 

and use...

Reproaching Discante (App III) and the lvl-21 Charm during battles to help the melee group members do thier job better and/or easier.

 

I like to keep a Conc-point open to use a group buff to pull any agro I need to and use my SONGS to stand back and get *some* damage in when everything is under control IF there is no other scout-type in the group... otherwise I get in there and get my back-stabbin-debuffs on the mobs as well.

night and day difference with haste on or off (at least in my book). I can hear the difference.

 

There was a post somwhere, where a person timed how many swings with haste and w/o haste over 60 seconds. There was a definate increase. I dont recal exact numbers, but it was at least 15% or more. Basically, it means that all melee group members are dealing 15% (or greater) more melee damage with haste on, and that is good enough for me. Of course, I would see no reason to have it up if you were in an all-caster group

 

Haste only increases how often you swing though, not your special attack's re-cast time, so maybe the 15% (or whatever the # was) isnt as accurate since you still cant get any extra specials in during those 60 seconds?

Thing is haste doesn't have any impact on combat arts and spells so unless people are letting auto-attack do all their damage or out of power, it won't have as noticeable effect.

Agreed about Haste, but I would still take the additional non-arts hits over not swinging at all. Sure *I* only hit for 10-15 per swing (dual-weild) but the warriors and other Melee based players hit for much more. Over a battle it adds up to a couple caster-nukes Im sure and it is free-damage (kinda). Now, if you feel there is something better to use those 2-conc points on, I couldnt argue that.

 

Over the past few days I have been in groups with 2 bard-types (Troub + Troub or Troub + Dirge) and I tell ya, what a great combo. While I will have 2 or 3 group buffs up using all 5 conc points, the other bard will have 5-conc points of buffs up as well. Full on group buffs from haste, STR, AGI, STA, resistances, attack, defense, etc. 2 bards in one group is a nice thing now-a-days. Takes a litte communication witht he other bard, but that is easy enough.

Barely ever use Merciless Melody unless I'm in a group with two fighters or more.

 

I use Songster's Luck when I'm solo, sometimes, not always. But the one's I always have up are.

Aria of Excitement

Raxxyl's Engergizing Harmony

 

and that's it!  The stat increases alone nearly 50 to str, agi, and sta.

 

I always have 2 spare concentration going into a fight, you then have room to react with

 

Reproaching Discante on a suprisingly hard hitting mob.

Bria's Stirring Ballad if your group is going to run out of power in a long fight.

Arcane Chorus- if you expect some heavy magic AE damage OR to aggro everything to you if you are playing a light tank

Merciless Melody - yep, that's why I have 2 spare. You really don't need this buff unless your group is about to run out of power, then this will allow them to keep damaging without power.

In my guild groups this is what I buff:

Raxxyl (adept1)

Perf Talent (adept3)

Bria's powregen(adept1).. waiting for 27 and upgrade

Aria's -proc(adept1)

 

And I leave a slot open for Discante(adept3)

If I get too much aggro somehow- I drop something and use soothing(adept1)

 

Spells I dont use anymore-

Merciless(adept1)- 2 slots is alot for little return... still may not use even if it was one.

Arcane Chorus(adept1)- I've got 900+ in some resists and still get hit...

Songsters Luck(master1)- nerfed from +15 to +6... if it were 1 slot I may use it again...

(edit- aria's proc at adept 1 is around 60-69 dmg- and for all melee'n in the group.  I get maybe 1-2 a fight) guild loves it.

Yea I'm also curious about this, as the description seems a little weak for me to actually use it, and i can't really see any stats going up. Is Aria really a such good song to play?

There's a test somewhere on the proc rate of the spell, conclusion was that it adds around 3% to the total damage of the group. Not worth it imo.

 

Anyways, at 42 I run 3 stat buffs, adding around 90 to str/sta/agi. Wether it's a bug or not I dunno. I also run power regen and the final slot I usually use for a mob debuff tho I am starting to doubt it's efficiency.

 

Haste looses it's value in the mid 40s once people start getting their haste belts. Not a bad thing tho, as it opens up the possibility to use mezz at 50 w/o worring about what song you have to kill.
