I have a 32 swashie---and I still don't have a good UI.What are your UI setups? And can you explain them so I see how it's the most efficient?

![]() I use the default UI and have most of my skills sorted throughout 4-5 hotbars. 1. Damage 2. Buff 3. Debuffs and major buffs (en garde, cunning, finesse, inspiration) 4. Item switch hotbar with a few AA skills 5. Deaggroes , more item stuff Message Edited by Cocytus on 08-27-2006 05:19 PM |

![]() I'm... lower level than you. But so far, I find that the default UI is remarkably flexible and can be customized without downloading much. A few things I have downloaded, though: Hotbar mod to remove the snafu surrounding the hotbars, and compress them to simply the buttons themselves, to reduce overlap problems when I place hotbars close to one another. Milquetowste's InfoCenter mod. Just because it seems quite handy. EQ2MAP - Some of the Points of Interest are outmoded, but when you find those it's fairly easy to report them and get them fixed. There's also an update utility. And I got a mod that basically gives me an "All In One" crafting window, so I don't bork my hex dolls or fancy threads when I go a tailorin'. You can get all of these at eq2interface.com (As an aside, if you're a hardcore modder, try out the Fetish Nightfall suite - it's very nice.)

Well, what I mean is how do you have it set up? What is the arrangement on-screen?

I personally have most of my arts arranged by HO type, so to speak. I have the following bars:1 - coin / HO starter: these are the attack buffs, the debuffs, mezzes etc2 - sword / cape: these are the "standard melee" arts and our main debuffs3 - ranged arts / Mastery strikes4 - stances / buffs5 - random junk / macros: you know, CoQ, CoR, ultravision, evac etcI personally hate the "bar" lay-out because I do everything by mouse and I have to move the cursor too much. So I have rearranged the bars so they become a square, almost. I have all the "squares" next to eachother, I happen to like it that way, /shrug. Entirely up to you.Apart from that, one window just above them for tells and group chat, loot etc. 1 window up top for guild and raid chat. Tab behind it for my melee, tab behind that for "others melee".

Well here's my setup - been quite happy with it - but it's always personal - depends what you like and what you get used to. 1st row - Buffs with hate reducers (and i have many when following int AA) as many macroed as possible, and hate transfer... last in row I have the hate increase etc - rarely use since my swashie is not built for tanking. 2nd row - Debuffs and mezz + short buffs 3rd row - Melee CAs - in order of: frontal, any direction, side and back + blue buttons ie AOEs 4th row - Ranged CAs + utility ie evac, FD, CoQ, CoR etc 5th row - items (from KoS etc), poisons, potions, totems, horse/carpet etc So first row I don't have to use much... just the hate transfer. 2nd and 3rd are my main rows I use and due to the order of buttons I can usually click them in order 4th and 5th when needed Most likely I forgot to mention something that I have there... I use it so intuitively that I don't recall what was there lol.

![]() A picture says more then a thousand words they say, so figured this would show best.. I think most end up with a similar base for how they set it up, grouping set up after sort and use. Keep the stuff ye use a lot in a way thats centralized for ye, and stuff ye need but wont use much in reachable positions without bein in the way. My set up for example, I keep attacks, debuffs and those in middle, and tossed all toggleable buffs aside to the right along with stuff I wont use often or dun want to use accidently (I mainly raid, thus swashie mez and taunt are not ordinarily used and clicking evac by misstake is a bad idea *grins*) Up top I keep general 'utility' such as poison, manastone, quick access bag and some just for fun stuff for out of way easie access. Now, having played a swashie for so long I have aquired my own quirks on a few skills that ended up in misfit places and would take me weeks to get used to if I changed it to follow a logical pattern. In general, as we get totally new skills a little here and there, using a basic idea thats logical to just *ye* will save a lot of fixing on later stages when ye try to fit them in. Just make sure ye end up with it in a way that fits yer personal style, it'll make it much more easie to use ![]() Oh, and I use partly ThorUI and partly individual pieces for my stuff. |

heres mine for a widescreen monitor.. sorry for the bad quality. i have 2 custom things, one is maintained spells (top left) and one that gives the health % of mobs so I dont have to keep putting my mouse over their named to see itive tried flashy full-ui conversions but they just dont appeal to me. im going to completely redo this ui soon ill edit this i guess when I do. also when friends play my character they mess with hotbars and stuff and im often too lazy to change it.

Completely default UI with those black bars on the bottom and top of the screen, I got four default-sized horizontal bars down there, two on the left, two on the right, plus a square see-through box (where the HO symbol normally is) mapped to the 1-9 buttons. The square box is for crap I use constantly and thus has a number mapped to it (evade, manastone, stealth, tracking, that emergency stealth-evade) and I also flip to an adjacent pane where I have my poisons sorted for convenient application.Bottom left bar is for attacks, normal ones on the left, positionals in the middle, followed by the HO starter and then all the AEs. Top left bar is for less-used attacks and debuffs (ranged skills, magic debuff, etc). On the far right are the two short-term buffs I use the most (inspiration and DPS/haste).The right bars are for my buffs, stances, and any other crap I might want to change out like poisons or temporary clickies. Only thing I regret is I got used to where Hurricane is, sometimes I wish I had it numbered or in an easier spot because there are times when mezzes get called and I need it off quick-like.

![]() I never understood the people that have 8 billion buttons on their screen at one time so mine is fairly straight forward. Combat skills are on the right most vertical bar. I use shift + 1-10 to switch to the various banks all organized by theme. For example bar 2 is debuffs/aoe , bar 3 is self-buff/util....
