Hi
Suppose you made it to level 60 Swashbuckler with all spells only upgraded to adept1 or worse. You also just respecced so still need to re-choose your masterII that you got to choose at level54.

Which spell would you choose at masterII. After that what would your order from most needed to least would your adept 3 choices be for CA 50-60?

ah, so a jeweller finally turns up and asks us Swashies how to make money.

for a 50% cut on sales, I'll fill you in :smileytongue:

personally, I have everything at adept 3 as a minimum, started at 51 and worked up from there.

These are just my choises, but at lvl 60, the ones i have deemed most important for upgrades:

Pillage for the master2 choise.
for adept3 or master1:
Hurricane, Battleweaver, Audacious Advance, Hail of Steel, Dazzling Steel, Avoid Censure, Elude.

rest of the T6 CA's are nice, but not as necessary to me to spend big money on.

(note that a few important swashie skills are not upgraded at T6, like Shadow Slip, Swarthy Diversion and Inspired Daring)

lol  unless they drastically reduced the number of gemstone/presous metals need for adept 3s.....very very very few swashbucklers i knew when i played didnt have at least every thing at adept3(minus the master 2 choices) Serberous personally had every lvl 45-60 at least adept 3

T5 skills that don't upgrade at T6 are:

  • Inspired Daring
  • Disheartening Guile
  • Swarthy Diversion
  • Shadow Slip
  • Brilliant Swathe
  • Brazen Thrust
  • Deriding Chicanery
  • Disable.

Probably about that order for priority, highest to lowest.

Level 54 Master II? Pillage, without a doubt. Don't bother making any Adept 3's of Pillage.

As for the most necessary T6 from a swashbuckler perspective: Battleweaver, Avoid Censure, Audacious Advance, Lung Puncture (Legendary), Fury of Blades, Spurious Bravado, Razor Point.

Then, from a sales perspective, add: Hurricane (Legendary), Hail of Steel (Legendary). The Adept 1's of these are available but are pretty uncommon. From an upgrade perspective (owning Adept1 already) I'd rank these two pretty low, but you'll sell a lot of Adept 3's simply because that's the easiest (if not the cheapest) way to get a Legendary Teachings skill.

Lowest priorities, probably: Elude, Gaudy Strike, Arctic Blast, Admonish

Might rank Elude a little higher, in the mid-range. Also depends how much LU#18 nerfs Avoid Censure (sounds like it's going to nerf the proc rate by 50%, which is going to kill us).

Anyway, those are more or less my priorities, coming from exactly the scenario you suggested. SMILEY

Depends on your playstyle and lots of other factors. I have about 80 days /played, level 60... with only one Adept 3 (ID). I have no Masters. Primarily due to being perma-broke until the last couple of months since DoF -- sole US member of a tiny Euro-thru-Asia guild (old friends), so most of my playtime has been with pickups (terrible way to make money) and, pre-DoF, having basically zero soloing ability. Only now am I able to solo and actually be desirable for groups, so I'm building up the cash to go back and upgrade past Adept 1. So don't assume everyone's in the same boat. SMILEY

There are only 2 normal choices for master 2 at 54.  I would say 88% of people take Pillage and about 10% take Flurry of Blades and 2% take something else for whatever reason.

Here's my "priority" list for upgrading: (note that I look at this from a raiding perspective)

*Inspired Daring - #1 ability for the swashy
Hail of Steel - Sustained ranged attack - A must to make a swashy useful for ranged combat - I have this at Master 1 right now.
Lung Puncture - A create ability which totally nerfs the opponent
Elude - A requirement to reduce hate.
Battleweaver - Agi / Str buff
Audacious Advance - More offense = good always
Avoid Censure - A proc for reducing hate
*Swarthy Diversion - A group member buff to remove hate.  This isn't really that useful in raids because swashes are never in the MT group.
Devious Blade - Damage which adds hate to the target's target, raids are all about controlling the hate and debuffing.
*Deriding Chicanery - debuff to defense and wisdom.
Hurricane - A concentration which adds a proc to AE.  Never used on raids, but very useful solo
Arctic Blast - Single ranged attack with lots of damage
*Brillant Swathe - AE which causes a stun
*Brazen Thrust - hidden attack which causes a stun
*Disheartening Guile - reduce mitigation attack
Fury of Blades - multi attack with reduce phy mitigation
Spurious Bravado - Haste Proc
Dazzling Steel - damage which reduces DPS of target - Reason this is low priority is Flash of Steel was Master 2 and Dazzling Steel isn't an upgrade at all until Adept 3.
*Shadow Slip - Reduces threat and lowers threat position.  Upgrading to Adept 3 isn't hugely important as reducing the threat position is usually enough.
Hangman's Noose - debuff for divine, magic and snares
Gaudy Strike - damage which reduces INT
Ingenious Finesse - temp self buff for DPS and Haste
Lucky Ruse - AE attack - no raid use
*Disable - damage and snare - snare is not useful in raid.
Disarming Leer - mez - no raid use.
Agile Slashing - defensive stance - wow this is useful as a DPS ! SMILEY - I use this occassional in Raids to reduce damage to self when there's an physical AE.

Never upgrade
Admonish - This is our TAUNT!  The reason this is ever used is to use the interrupt.  This ability should stay at Apprentice level.
Pillage - Master 2

* T5 ability which doesn't upgrade

Adept III's are worth their weight, and the rares for them drop often enough if you invest the time into mining, so they are practically free.  If you raid, then you have an additional avenue to gather rares.  The first things I upgraded were the offensive stance and big damage attacks mentioned above.  What helps out in raids are:  Devious Blade, Elude, Avoid Censure and Hangman's Noose.  I recently upgraded Hail of Steel for raids where AoE is an issue.  Masters are dropping, but its the same ones that seem to drop with any regularity -- usually our AoE's and buffs, rarely the other types of attacks.  A master is a bonus, but should not be relied upon -- plus, the upgrade for an Adept III is a Master III, when they arrive.
