I keep hearing about the stuff in-game from the halflings, I was wondering exactly it was and what it's used for.

The flippant answer would be that it's the stand-in for pot in the halfling's lives.Well, that's more or less the entire answer, really. It seems to be a kind of magical honey that the halflings treasure and like to mix in drinks. I don't think I've ever seen an in-depth explination of what, precisely, it is... but if you've ever read the Lord of the Rings books, it's the equivilent of whatever herbs Gandalf and the Hobbits liked to put into their pipes and smoke - a way of indicating the use of some kind of (mild) drug without actually coming out and saying it.

In EQ1, you could actually get jumjum by doing a quest involving bixies SMILEY

jumjum is a tier one crafting harvested item. It is used in many food/drink items. Prolly these recipes come from halfling decent. From the item picture im guessing its a large berry type fruit...

Like cusa said, it's radish-like in look, but it seems its juice is very sweet, and it is a fruit or vegetable (not an herb like pipe weed or tabacco). It used to only grow in the areas around the Misty Thicket due to certain weather conditions in the area, and was a main staple in the Halfling diet, making pies, juice, alcohol, and almost anything else. I thought it was very interesting that it suddenly become a tier 1 fruit, and I was slightly dissapointed, heh.

The Jum Jum foods likely comes from the root while the honey type stuff that the Bixies use likely comes from the pollen of the flowers it likely produces. Talk about a plant that has multiple uses. kind of like a potatoe.

Jumjum is a unique crop that was grown in gardens in the region around Rivervale and the Misty Thicket in the Age of Turmoil. Since then the crop has gone wild and grows in a variety of climates, most likely caused by migrating halflings following the Ages of War and Cataclysms. There is a tall tale in the halfling community about a Joppi Jumjumseed sprinkling the seeds of the plant liberally as he traveled the lands.

Halflings have found a great many uses for jumjum over the ages and have shared this knowledge with other races. The sweet juicy fruit of the plant that actually grows underground has been used to make an endless amount of drinks and foods, especially pies! The juice is very good freshly squeezed but seems to add to any drink. Adult halflings tend to favor the multitude of fermented wines and stouts that have been discovered over the centuries. The leafy top of the jumjum that grows above ground can be refined and used in the creation of baskets, clothing, sails, and many other cloth based products. A favorite use of the leafy top by older male halflings is to grind it up and smoke it in pipes, it has a light calming effect but does not seem to be addictive or cause ailments, at least in halflings. This may be attributed to the latent magical properties that seem to be found in the crop. The magical properties seem to be heavily concentrated in the fruit of the plant.

Jumjum seems to have staved off a possible calamity in the last days of the Age of Cataclysms. As refugees poured into Qeynos the food supplies of the human city were depleting at an alarming rate. Queen Antoina and her counselors were very distressed with this situation, the crops they had planted ahead of time in the fields of Antonica were not ready for harvest and the food stores were about gone. While a meeting to discuss the matter was being held, a small elderly halfling woman quietly and timidly stepped into the Hall of Council. Cradled in her apron were a couple dozen plump jumjum fruit bulbs. She quietly described what they were and that they were a special quick growing food, and offered the council the fruit to taste. She then explained that her people had brought the crop with them and that they already had many gardens of the marvelous crop growing. Antonia's fears quashed with the little halfling's solution. Jumjum fed the people of Qeynos until the time that the Antonican crops could meet the needs of the general populace.

Jindrack, if jumjum is so prevalent in Baubbleshire and elsewhere, why in the world does Lozoria Shinkicker in the Deepmug Tavern send us out to find Oro Root as a poor substitute? Haha Jindracks words speak the truth. Jumjum used in so many different ways... indeed the main crop amongst us Stouts. I've even got some in my back pocket (just in case of an emergancy ya know?)

Niami, if i'm not mistaken, is one of the food venders that is in rivervale in EQLive.

If you played EQLive you'll know most of what was potsed about jumjum to be true, especially if you spent time in rivervale (which was one of the better places to obtain your subs for food combines i might add). You will know the history behind Nillipuss as well.

Nillipus in EQ1 was a brownie that popped up in Rivervale (long spawntime) and ran around stealing JumJum -he would shout through the zone

"Nillipus Nillipus is my name, Stealing Jum Jum is my game"...and maybe more but that is all I remember. There was a quest from a deputy there to kill him, or u could just kill him for his brownie parts to make chocolate SMILEY
