Not sure if anyone else noticed this, or if it is jsut old news, but in the Common Lands I noticed that there were some NPCs gathered around one of the old ruined spires from EQ1. I walked up and talked to them (there was one "a Gate Caller Surveyor" and two "a Gate Caller Builder" ) and spoke to the surveyor, who informed me they were preparing to rebuild the spires! When I asked what they would be for, I was told they were meant to provide travel to the Overrealm, not too surprising, but definitly interesting. May be old new to some people, just posting it here to get peoples thoughts and all.Edit:I believe this will be part of the live event, judging by what was said to me by the NPCs: to help rebuild the spires.

Yeah, those spires are a high possibility as a part of an upcoming live event preceding the KoS launch. And it's not only the spires in Commonlands -- it's all of them, or at least, most of them.

It's great to see the spires coming back into service, though, since they are lying in ruins for over a year.

I think those sky essences, the no trade lore ones, might have something to do with this...or am i mistaken?

the thing in the sky that can be seen from Maj'Dul is the shimmering citidel. not part of KoS. it can be seen from sinking sands and pilers of flame as well.

Neat, just got one of those Sky Essence thingers. Maybe the builders will have something to say about it? Doubt it, but worth a shot, likely will only be usefull at the event though.

Not that I doubt they will try to reactivate the spires, but according to what I have read and what friends who played EQ1 told me, doesn't Luclin need to be part of the deal in order for it to work?

Friend told me when the game first started and I asked him about the spires.  "They won't ever be back working in game again due to you had to travel to Luclin then to your destination".  This mean they've found a way around this or is there a chance that just because it blew up, it doesn't mean you can't still access parts of Luclin?

The Lore of the game is something I've just started to spend some time learning more of, sure hope they don't mess it all up.

There were spells for a long time to teleport to the spires before Luclin was re-discovered.  Luclin just allowed you to do it without the spells.  Probley be back to hitting up wizards for a port again.

Heheh. Yeah. Kinda hard to rebuild spires currently engulfed by Lava.

Curious as to why Zek's didn't get the treatment, though. I guess maybe they just didn't have enough to go around.

Well, they aren't IN the lava, but it is a highly dangerous area lol.

Actually, I'm pretty sure the Luclin spires, at least in EQLive lore, did have to be at least in tact for the other spires to work. Not necessarily have the strength to make contact between the two, but I believe they all had to be at least there. They are Combine Spires, and for the most part the Combine Era was known for their travel to Luclin before Luclin left the close proximity of our orbit. Sure the spires worked before Luclin was in orbit but, .. I think that the central spires, connecting Luclin and Kunark, even though the power isn't large enough to transport one between the two, are what fuel the others with the energy needed, .. no matter how weak that energy is.

These actually aren't the Combine Spires, these were built during the time between EQ and EQ2. If I remember correctly they were built by the Quellithule Erudites... Off I go to South Qeynos to find the book with all of the information on these.
