With all the shiny new things EoF has brought, has anyone found a good fabled one-hander for templars?

I believe one of the new buffed up items from EH on test includes a 1h hammer with a nice max damage.

This picture is from one of the posts in Items and Equipment forum, the hammers pretty decent, throw a healing pulse adornment on it to get it to +55 to all heals

Slower weapon => higher dmg each hit => higher critical hits

Besides the damage thing, there are procs that come into play as well.  I personally don't understand the math but for max procing 3 seconds is the magic number from what I undrstand.  So, if you cast GoB on yourself and melee, you should proc it more with this weapon then with with a fast weapon.  Besides GoB, there is equipment that can proc more damage, group heals... etc.

The reason I asked is that I read at one point where someone suggested a longer delay weapon over one with a higher damage rating, and it just didn't make sense to me. It would seem that a higher damage rating would be more important. You might miss more with a shorter delay weapon, but you'll also hit more often, albiet for less. Missing with a long delay weapon means you miss out on a bigger chunk of DPS, but of course when you do land, you land for more. It would seem to me like it would balance out, but I know better then to trust SOE to be so straightforward or use common sense (my favorite oxymoron).

I can see how in a hypothetical situation where you've got 2 weapons with equal damage ratings and proc types, but different delays, the 3 second delay optimal proc time could be the deciding factor. Does anyone know if the mechanics work like this, or are there other factors that are either less obvious or I'm simply not seeing?

Very nice weapon :smileyhappy:

But when i will ever see a weapon that only Clerics can use and not all priests?

Untill now i've always seen drops for warden/fury, mystic/defiler  and sometimes only few fighter class/inquisitor....but never 1 where it says Templar or clerics.

It's a conjoure to get the cleric behind on everything?

Personally, I don't like the Emerald Hammer, a few heal pulse/adorns is all you really need.

Princes' hammer would still be my choice + crit heal proc. [I cannot control my vocabulary] meleeing mobs :smileytongue:

The longer delay allows you to nuke/heal between swings, plus if you've maxed your melee crit, you're really concentrating on the max damage and delay and not the average damage and delay.

In raids my choice is prismatic 2.0 - good proc 600 HoT (blessing boosted) and shed loads of FT. Add a 1% heal crit adornment and that's some nice extra healing.
When i'm low on mana i pull out a phantom adorned Dominance for the (now double) mana tap.   aITEM 1725603750 -1040160215SMILEYominance/a
Secondary slot has to be The Cloister buckler.  Couple of resists and some ok stats but 1% heal crit naturally and the ability to adorn it with another 1% heal crit makes it uber IMO.  aITEM 1980834781 -301438679:The Cloister/a
Otherwise I just go with the highest dps weapon i can find - Currently i'm waiting on the hammer of the dragonborn to drop

Pris2 can't be adorned. :smileytongue:

Heal crit chance... Yes. :smileywink: The Cloister... Hmm, Prefer Buckler of the Winged, MO's buckler, or the Matron's buckler personally. :smileytongue:

Its also the ratio between your min and max damage on a weapon that makes it desireable if you have maxed your melee crits out, I dont know if solely picking one because it has a 5 or 6 sec delay as opposed to a 3 second delay makes too much sense if the min/max damage were the same on both.  I dont know if you'd already taken that into consideration when you asked, but if you werent aware of how the damage ratio affects your crits, you can look at the following thread:
The only other reason I could see someone deliberately choosing a weapon with a longer delay than a 3, if the damage ratios were the same, was if they had a specific formula they used in terms of what they cast in what order etc.  Not so much an actual game mechanic thing, more of a preference.  I have a Blackscale maul I use frequently, and to be quite honest, that 8 delay kills me!  Yaulp helps, and yeah, I can hit a debuffed mob for 2000+ (which is awsome for a lil shorty like me) but I often switch out irregardless of whether Im losing some dps because the delay is just too painful to watch.
