class i wanna play. im leaving towards either a conjuror or a defiler/mystic. i really like the fact that conjurors have the ability to solo mobs when they want to too, not to say that the shamans cant...but from what i hear its dead slow. Healers are always needed in grous and that really attracts me too, but to me it seems that the conjuror is much liked in groups as well. basically from your own paly experiences...can you tell me why you like playing your conjuror, rather than say maybe a healer type class?

Kind of a silly obvious answer for me, but I like my conjuror for the pets.  With a pet, you can control the fight from a distance.  You have your own tank (most important to me as a soloist) but also a mini mage and mini-scout for grouping - or soloing for that matter as well.  And that touches on another great aspect of conjurors; variety.  Barring some nameds, if you can solo a mob with one pet, you can solo it with any of them by adjusting your tactics.  Use the tank pet and unload all your swarm pets and DoTs and just keep casting, or use the scout pet for the higher damage and just keep it alive with our defensive spells and heals, or use the mage pet and kite the mob or root and nuke (kiting is only effective after mid 50's, honestly).  Having a pet is also a great safety factor and often gives you time to get out of a bad situation.

Call of the hero, while relatively situational, is an unmatched abilty and we have several other spells/abilities that are beneficial to the group.  While a conjurors role in a full group is just DPS for the most part, in small groups - duo's or trios we shine.  If we're with a healer and tank go DPS, if we're with DPS we can provide a suitable tank.  I've had the most fun in obscure trios than I've ever had in full groups.

I don't know much of anything about healers, but I can't imagine they have the versatility of a conjuror whether it be the role in the group or tactics in soloing.

Be a healer, there's to many conjy's :smileywink:

Healers are always wanted for groups, if you like to solo, use a summoner or chanter.  If you want to group and sometimes solo use a healer.  Conjy's are always welcome to groups but are also great soloers.  Healers are always wanted in groups and are slow soloers.

I have a L70/50 Mystic and a L70/50 Conjuror, both with a lot of raiding experience.  My Mystic was the first to L50 and L60 and the Conjuror was the first to L70.They are COMPLETELY different to play. The Mystic makes things live.  The Conjuror makes things die.  It's really that simple. It's all about what YOU want to do.  You will be able to get a group with either character.  There are a LOT more Conjurors than Mystics.  This means that your Master spells will be more expensive, probably by a good bit. What we like about our characters is irrelevant.  What YOU like to do is very relevant.Healers are often the unsung heroes.  Truly knowledgeable players will understand what you do, few others will.  DPS classes are flashy and often noticed, for better or worse.Don't allow anyone else to talk you into either character.  Don't make someone else the scapegoat a few weeks from now when you realize you aren't playing a class you enjoy.  Analyze what you want, choose accordingly.

If you take a Saturday to play, you can get both a mystic and a conjuror to level 10 (or15 is better) in the same day. I think that would be your best bet on deciding which you like better. Both get groups and obviously the conjuror is a better soloer. So its all based on what style of play you like best. I never thought I would like playing a melee char, but once I tried out a monk, I LOVED it. So who knows. I love my conj but hate playing a wizard, its all relative. Also, if you played EQ1, don't base your choices on that. I played a cleric in EQ1 and loved it, but I hate how the templars play in EQ2. It is VERY much based on your own personal preference. SO play around, make a few lvl 10 chars and then go from there.

I aggree with trying different toons but picking one at level 10 is going to keep you very limited on class ability, especially for the conjy (just saying what I know).  With the pet upgrades and different skill lines that come into play later in the levels it would be hard to define then next 55-60 levels simply on the first 10-15.  Play both toons if you like but give each one time.  You may think you want to be a conjy and start playing the mystic and it grows on you, or you may hate healing.  Either way it's a game, have fun with it, make one of each.  If you like em, keep em.  If you don't, you don't.
