I'm having some problems with a macro I'm trying to create and wonder if any bright sparks out there can suggest something.

Macro as is

Line 1: /assist Nameoftank
Line 2: /pet attack
Line 3: /target_pet

Problem is it doesn't work and I don't know why, anyone suggest some help?

Basically this is to aid in controlling the pet in case of Charm break. If the macro worked then my pet would always be assisting the correct target and I would always have it targeted if Charm breaks.

My target changes to that of the tank and the pet sits there looking dumb doing nothing (not related to the earlier problem with Coercer pets)

As stupid as it sounds, was your tank targeting something when you tried it?

the macro command lines are nothing more than the text you type in command line.  So, if you type /assist Biguglytrolltank, then /pet attack, and it works; then, my only far-fetched possibility is that it's related to the timing of the commands.  If you suspect that it's 'too fast' (which I highly doubt, but have seen in other spell events before), then you can make multiple macros, 1 for each line for troubleshooting purposes.Sidenote:  Once you get this to work, you can cook up 5 macros that correspond to the 5 party slots and just remove and replace when your tank is in a different place. That way you don't have to change the name over and over.   Plus a 6th of course for the MT/MA for a raid.HTH,nektulos.willbender

Everything happening to fast could be a reason.  I have a yell Macro on my Berserker that targets self then yells.  There are times when I have to press the macro a second time to yell off all encounters becasue the yell took place before I was targetted. Most of the time this is in TT when I have 90% of the Scaleborn Warriors attacking me when leaving SoS though.  What can I say, I like ot see how many I can collect :smileyhappy:

I'm pretty sure that its to do with lag now. Certainly in a raid environment there is a noticeable lag between pressing the simple /assist macro and actually having the target appear. I'm sure that's causing the problem.

Really annoying, would have made controlling a pet easier. It's not a problem if the pet comes to beat on me if it breaks but if it decided to chew on someone else it can be hell to retarget it. =/

Nemi,Its been suggested that throwing an emote in there helps break up the macro enough to account for such things... something like:assist NameofTank ; pointpet attacktarget_petGive that a go and let me know SMILEY

Also important to know that pressing F1 twice will target your pet.  First time F1 targets you, second press your pet.

Are you telling me the TARGET_PET command in your macro works when the mob is no longer your pet?  That  sounds strange, but I could see it being useful if it does.

I think nemi just means this will ensure that your pet is always targetted once you send em on the mob...Nemi did my little suggestion work? Just curious because my coercer is a baby and hasn't grouped yet but would like to know for the future SMILEY

/Target has a noticable lag on it while it searches the names of everyone close to you server-side.There's a /target_group_member <1-6> you could try and might not have the lag.  But there's not raid equivalent that I know of.

No it doesn't but what the macro would do is always have your pet attacking the mob the tank is attacking, and always have you targeting your pet (which you can cast through to hit the mob). Since your doing a DPS role you are not really doing CC or stuns etc on the other mobs.

When Charm breaks, you have the mob targetted and the 3 seconds you get it more than enough to root/debuff/mes and charm it. Otherwise, you spend ages trying to mouseclick the pet (it doesn't always attack you after Charm breaks) to get it back under control.

I haven't had a chance to check it as I've been working away from home and left to play only Oblivion =) Will try it tonight and let you all know =)
