Hi all,

New Coercer here - played a monk since just after release but when I don't want to tank I've started a Coercer alt. Hoping you kind folks can help me out.

I have Adept3 Charm (not been lucky enough to find a Master yet), what does this actually mean? I've read in the update notes and stickies that it only affects the quality of the skills the pet will use, is that it?

What is the difference of charming a v, v v, no arrow, ^ , ^ ^ or ^ ^ ^ ? Is there any?

It seems no matter what level of mob I charm, even a ^ arrow pet versus a v arrow mob, the pet will lose (at Adept3 Charm)

Hope you guys can clear it up for me.

Thanks for the feedback. I had thought of this but I can't understand then how a no arrow pet using Adept3 skills regularly gets beat by a V arrow mob and always gets beat by a no arrow mob?

I would have thought the pet should always win these fights?

(The examples are the same level and type of mob, only seperated by arrow con)

EDIT: Or do mobs always use Master level skills?

What level of spells mobs natively use seems to depend on how many arrows they have. Based on the limited testing I've done, ^^^ mobs will cast at Adept III and no-arrows will cast at Adept I, but I'm not sure how it scales aside from those. I'm surprised your pets aren't able to win one-on-one with Adept III Charm, though; I only had Adept I charm during the teen levels as an Enchanter, and I remember my pets basically having a 50% chance to win or lose against other mobs of the same type/level if I did nothing to help (which makes sense). It might have something to do with the type of pet, as priest and mage pets get more benefit from upgraded Charm quality than fighter and scout pets do, since more of their damage comes from spells than auto attack.
