They are a blast! I have to say this is the funnest class I've tried, and I have tried alot. For those of you who are thinking of starting one, all I can say is go for it. Mind you this is not a class for the lazy, you are always doing something. I truely feel useful in groups. Frist let me say what has happen to me may not be the case for others. With that said, at the present I am lvl 42, Got my guild invite at 10, my LFG flag is never up longer than 15 mins before pick up, shoot I get invites when I am in a group already. I can lock down six targets at a time, a lot of times I am the last to go down in case of wipes most of the time I do get away to return and revive the group.  I can mana feed the group, I have a 2 good pets that helps when I solo and when I am in a group I can cast haste on 3 people. The big plus is the group invis so we can get to the target needed without having to fight the nation to get there. I have both in and out of combat mana feeds and regens. The fun spells are a blast, I turn the group into humans or half-elfs and watch as the group trieds to figure out why they are a  human, works great on Barbarians and Orges. Can we solo, yes and very well once you get it down. I don't die a lot, in fact some of my alts die far more. I am sure there is more to speak of that I can't think of, such as raids which I haven't done yet so I can't say as of yet. Bugs, what can I say, nothing that stops me from doing my job or having fun. but don't take my word for it try it your self. Please feel free to add anything I forgot.

I enjoy my illusionist also. Only 50 but I can still solo all I want and do quests. However, what I can't do and I enjoy most is find groups.I sit LFG for 2-4 hours and almost never get a group.  Sometimes I will make my own groups if the right people are LFG but not always possible. On the flip side I can log my templar in and walla, group with 5 minutes. It shows as well cause he is much higher level.Very frustrating, I'd rather play my enchanter but lately more and more I've just not even tried and play my templar. I like grouping more than solo play and thats 90% of what I'm stuck with playing an illusionist.

Sadly, a healer is a must for ANY group ANY. And some groups want 2 for HOF or whatever. This is always going to be the case when you compare a healer to any class when LFG. I bet healers get groups faster then most tanks as well.

I understand that somewhat... I also play a troubador and it has the same problem my illusionist does. It's just frustrating is all. I get in groups and watch who is invited and almost always its tank, healer, dps. Utility classes are almost always ignored or last guys to be picked.Just wish it wasn't so cause I really perfer my illusionist.

HasteGroup invisIllusions? Mezzing?

This has to be the finest bit of satire I've seen in a long time.  Good job!

I'm just hanging out to read the happy-raiding-Illusionist version :smileyhappy:

Illus are not that bad ... at least in a group illus are an importand class. not everyone appreciates the abilities of an illu - but there are some peeps out there appreciating what we can do in groups or raids.

yesterday I joined a PUG in runny with my LV37 illu. a friend of mine was already in as the healer and asked me to join in our voice chat - he was claiming that the tank was the fastest (in terms of pulling and progress) he ever saw - and he was right - that guy was nuts - you really had to hurry in between mobs to catch up with him - he did not stop for master chests or anything ... pulling the next mob right away before the first one hits the ground. I made like 40% or 45% of progress to LV38 in an hour without any vitality (actually this hurry does not fit with my normal playstyle ... but it was fun for a while ... kind of power grinding)

before I joined the group the tank was asking for power all the time (they already had a trouba at that point) ... he had chat macros for asking group members for heards, shards and whatever power-related items any member could supply - he was running out of power all the time due to his increadible speed (he was very well equiped and knew exactly what he was doing). after I joined he did not run out of power once - I turned on my A3 mana cloack from time to time and had the MII power regen (M2) on.

I had to leave the group quite early due to waiting customers. my friend stayed in the group and reported in our voice channel that the tank started using his power-request-macros after the first few mobs.

this is of course only one example and only one aspect of the illu - in a group the illu can play a vital role!

I just wanted to chime in here as well. My Illu is lvl 35 atm. I'm a hydra player (2-boxxer) and am building up a pally with the illu. I have a regular group that I play with. Guardian, Inqu, Ranger, Brigand, Illu and Pally. Everyone in group is 32 to 36. Our tank, the guardian, is 32. We just did a nek castle run Sunday. it went very well. We completed Hadden's earring with few hitches.

At one point we got to the named beetles and the tank didn't know to pull them down the hall. we ended up with two groups of beetles plus the named. I kept them all locked down throughout the battle but had a comp glitch towards the end and ended up dieing. I was the only casualty. SMILEY

We continued fighting for a few min while I reloaded my illusionist and the differance in over-all DPS and power was amazing. After the illu was back in group and we had killed a few more mobs everyone commented on what a huge differance the illu makes in groups.

It is not uncommon for me to get one or two group invites when I first log in and to get one or two throughout game play (it mostly dwindles after a few min.)

I have played a few toons and still do. Some are 70, some are in their teens. To date I have not had another toon that I felt contributed as much as my Illu.

I have absolutely no problems soloing with my chanter either, it's finding groups that tends to be the problem. As to Washington, well thats a bit out of the way for me I live in Texas =)

I usually like to play healer types in MMOGs... so in comparison, we definately don't have as easy a time getting a group as a healer. But I suppose that's to be expected.

In that case, I believe "walla" is an acceptable pronunciation. SMILEY

I die often in my quilted armor, but from trying things I would never have dreamed of with my other toons.  I would rather go down soloing a named mob 4 levels below me if I can get it to 20% health rather then die after 3 hits and mob is only to 75%.

I have a level 34 Illusionist and find I am enjoying him more then my 70 Ranger.  At 34, I soloed a lvl 30 ^^^ named gargoyle outside Nek castle.  Mostly because this mob must melee and I was able to keep him mezzed and rooted.  Sent Tiny (my personae) in and when he got low on health pulled him out and let heal then sent back in.  I am having more trouble with the named Giant in Nek though.  Mostly because this mob is a caster and kills me with DoTs.  All-in-all, when I decide to retire my ranger, I feel it will be for my Illusionist.

As a side note, even though Tiny's roots and mezzes did not last full term, I was wondering if anybody noticed our pet can root and mez epics?  I was soloing the Windstalker Rumbler to clear out my quest book some.  When I sent Tiny in the first thing I saw was he rooted the Rumbler, then I saw the mezzes hit.  I was excited because if any class should be able to mez/root epics it should be Illusionists so I tried to cast my roots and mezzes to no avail.  I asked a good friend, who is a level 60ish Illusionist and she said she had not tried it but would let me know.

Wow, I am glad to see a 70 ranger feels this way. Unfortunatley in the t7 raids I have attended a 70 ranger is an invaluable asset to just about any raid situation. Where as an Illusionist is more of situational and depends on what classes you already have. All in all I am glad you feel this way. But, I wouldn't delete your ranger if your guild raids. :smileyhappy:

Never would delete him, same for my Illusioinist.  I am a ranger at heart but the challenges of the Illusionist class are rekindling a fire I have't had in years, long before Everquest even existed.  More like from my AD&D days as a teen.

Anyways, as I have questioins you might see more posts from me.  I read alot before I ask so if it is here, hopefully I will find it before I ask a question that has been answered before.

Or Wah-Lah, Wall-Ah, Wal-lah, Wa-lah, Wa-la, Wah-la, or Wal-ah would be acceptable.  need the dash to denote pronounciation. so no, walla has no emphesis and is spoken as "one word", therefore it is not a correct pronounciation, scriptically speaking.

But yes, if you can put up with all the crap enchanters get, you can have a good time and grow to love the class, but we arent all that and the bag of bat wing crunchies you make it sound.

If you look at prima's guide when the class came out, you'll see it said that enchanters are the hardest class to master in this game and it is not for the light hearted.  they were rite.

Those that have started an illus since, about nov of last year, have had it very easy.  try playing with crappier roots, lower dps, and no pet like the dedicated chanters have endured.  we have had some progress along the life of this class, but nothing to really brag about.  all we can do at this point is kudos the pet idea.
