SCRAP THE CHARM!  Turn our Logic pets Permanent and make em like they were in EQlive!  What the [explative] am i going to do when my crappy charm works like my crappy root and my pet were to "wake up"? i couldn't solo in the first place, and still can't solo now with out the use of a crappy charm, how am i to solo now when a charm might break in the middle of a fight? mezz one and wait forever for the recast while i get the crap pounded outta me? especially by a mob that can cast an uber long stun? NO THANX!

I've always advocated for us to have pets like in eqlive.  the other classes have em, y cant we?

I DIDN'T play Eqlive or Eq1, so I'm looking at it from a newbie perspective - I read the manual and the website description, and went for a DPS mage with a bit of difference.  Oops. I don't want a pet whether real, or charmed - that is specifcally a summoner thing.  Mental damage, illusions, hypnosis.  These are all concepts that from fantasy an Illusionist should posess. What is this "Utility" I keep hearing about? It is NOT anywhere in the class description.  The word doesn't even appear in the manual.  I expected to get the best sneak spells, and to occasionally misdirect an entire mob away from us, DAMAGE, and generally do some nifty illusion type things.  Not become a battery. I've got 60 adventure/crafting levels invested in my illusionist, so I won't delete it, but it's definetly a jeweller alt, rather than an adventurer main. I know there is a large body of knowledge carried forward from EQ and other games, but surely the revamp allows for archtype and class to outweigh sub-class in terms of what the character can do?

I do not want charm as an illusionist, for same reasons as many have stated above. I do not even want a pet, we are not summoners. An illusion that confuses the enemy for short period of time would fit into our class much better. It would also give an illusionist some time to get an upper hand during the start of a battle without going into orange or red. That is all I need (plus more dps to actually be able to kill the mobs), if I wanted a tank pet I would be a summoner. The whole idea with "every class should have a pet" is silly IMHO. I would not hold my breath for something like that happening, because it would make devs to create something new instead of copy/paste: here are some protoflames for wizards, a fairy for illusionists etc. It makes me sad.

I know it's confusing due to some test server screenshots but Illusionists do not get charm (past the level 10 Enchanter spell that is).  We originally had the higher level charm spells when they first started the combat changes but that was changed when they pushed the full mage changes to the DoF beta server.  At that point, the Illusionists higher level charm spells were replaced by the doppleganger spells.

Now....can Sony still change their minds and make what I just stated a falsehood.....well, I'm not going to put that past them.  But currently on the DoF Beta server I do not have any high level charm spells.

Sakarab, Oasis, Illusionist 47.5

Barakas,

Can you confirm the levels in which the early stuns wear out?  Is it still the same?

I see we have two still, the single target increased 1 sec the group 2 sec.

EDIT:

Also. I do not see Tormenting Vision, (i think it is called, level 31ish dot) in the line up.  Is this gone?  Do you know what spell replaced it and did they upgrade that spell to the TV level?

Thanks man,

And I am busting on you in several strings on this page, but understand it is for sake of the class and nothing personal.

I and everyone else on the boards really appreciate you taking the time to provide us with this information.  Very Frustrating not to know.
