![]() I Do Not want a charm spell for my class. Sure maybe for the lower levels it may be ok, But as for the Illusionist subclass, I Dont want any charms, I have always wanted higher dps, but not this way. Coercers have the charm spells, not us! Give us a Pet like in eq live, not a charmed pet! I would soo rather have my construct pet tank for me as conjy's and necro pets do, than risk a broken charm and get killed by something i couldn't tank in the first place. I'm not saying makeour pets like a summoner's, just omit the attack ability. I would really like to kno why we havent gotten this pet spell in the first place! Please, no Charm for me, Give me a companion instead. And for those crying imbalanceafter reading this, Rangers get pets that will attack a mob if hit, extra dps for them, and i said our pets would NOT have the attack option, just a hate increasing attack. We have no nukes as it is anyway, so why not? :smileyvery-happy: Fix The Chanters! :smileyvery-happy:

1.) I agreed- We should have had a permanent construct pet we can summon like in EQ1. To all of you who say "This is NOT EQ1".... Yeah, I'm well aware of that, but as the developed said, they tried to take the best from that game, and all other MMOs, and put it into EQ2. Not giving us pets severely hampered us. 2.) We DO get nukes. Psychic Assailant and that line of spells are all nukes. No, they are not nearly as powerful as a Warlock or Wizzy, but they are still nukes. 3.) If all we can get is a charm spell then I can at least rationalize it- We are, after all, a class of mesmerizers. We bewilder and control the minds of NPCs. Charm makes sense, even if we don't all like it. Honestly, if you can't remember to recharm your pet then you probably forget to rebreeze groupies, and if that is the case then you shouldn't be playing a chanter of any type. 4.) Try TESTING the changes before we start moaning about them. If you don't have the ambition to get on the test server then you'll have to wait until the changes go live. Either way, thoroughly test them before juding, otherwise all we are doing is whining about things we do not understand.

![]() As it stands right now on test, Charm WILL NOT break unless: A) The spell runs out (10 minute base duration, longer with upgrades) B) Your charmed pet dies. C) You cancel the enchantment. Message Edited by MillsFairchild on 08-08-2005 08:00 AM |

Umm actually I am a 41 ranger and my pet has never attacked anything...it is just fluff. But you are correct, we did not want charm. If they want to make us happy, give us a better working root and give us illusions!!!! We have crappy illusions. Who the heck wants to have a f-ing human illusion anyway? Also a little bit on the spell dps would be great. I can solo fine, but it takes sooooooooooooooo long to do. If they want to fix us, make us illusionists for the love of god. If we wanted charmed pets, we would have been coercers.

I haven't logged onto the beta server in a few days but unless they changed something we do NOT get Dominate. When we become Illusionists at level 20 we lose the ability to charm mobs (though you can still use the first Charm spell that works on mobs up to level 24) and we get the Doppleganger line of spells.
Illusionists DO NOT charm. Even though the spell may say Enchanter (47) the spell does not exist in my spell book. Sakarab, Oasis, 47.4 Illusionist |

I'm still quite confused about the situation myself. You say we don't get it, but it's clearly listed and available in this Illusionist's spell book. I wish we'd get a clearer answer from the devs on this.

I'll post tonight when I get home but this has me scratching my head as well. I do know when I first got copied to the DoF server that I did have the Dominate spell but that it was replaced a few days later by the Personae line of spells. Sakarab, Oasis, Illusionist 47.4 |

![]() I know it's confusing due to some test server screenshots but Illusionists do not get charm (past the level 10 Enchanter spell that is). We originally had the higher level charm spells when they first started the combat changes but that was changed when they pushed the full mage changes to the DoF beta server. At that point, the Illusionists higher level charm spells were replaced by the doppleganger spells. Now....can Sony still change their minds and make what I just stated a falsehood.....well, I'm not going to put that past them. But currently on the DoF Beta server I do not have any high level charm spells. Sakarab, Oasis, Illusionist 47.5 |

Saden also has said no charm for us, except the Level 10 spell. Therefore, charm is something we do not get.
