So... I've noticed a trend lately on the PvP server Venekor.I will be in some random PvP battle, and suddenly my health drops about 80-100% in a single hit.At this point, I usually mutter under my breath, "...Dark Distortion..." and look down at my combat log.Sure enough.I was playing with a friend the other day in the same room as me... every time we were suddenly and instantly dropped we were like, "[expletive haxx0red by Raijinn]?!" (we are warden + fury so we keep eachother healed... except when we get hit for 980-100% of our health instantly).I told him, "I bet you anything that Dark Distortion spell killed you."Sure enough.People who are level 23 are nailing me for 400-600 damage. That's almost all my health when buffed. What's the deal with this spell?I haven't fought anyone, including stealthers, wizards, etc, that could hit me for so much damage. They are basically dropping me in a single hit.Just wondering if his is considered overpowered, of if it's just uber at the low 20's levels and evens out later or something.Every time I die instantly I look down and see "Dark Distortion hits you for 550 damage!"

![]() Dark Distortion is a master II option (at level 24) and the master II version does in that range of damage against PVE. I don't play on PVP so I don't know the mechanics but I'd guess the reason your having more trouble with this spell then say an ice based one cast by a wizard is your poison resist is probably low and so your taking full damage rather than mitigating much of it. You'll probably want to invest in some poison resist gear. |

![]() It (the spell line, anyhow) is the Warlock's primary single-target DD spell. Long range, good damage, relatively efficient. At higher levels (I'm 62 at the moment, fighitng mostly 60s on Venkor) you don't get the sort of percentage damage dealing you're describing because people have better mitigation. Their hitpoints, too, scale up faster than the spell damage in PvP does, generally. I have been Fusioned for something like 8k before though, from a Wizzy, heh.

![]() You're at a level where you have really crappy resists from gear, and you're playing elemental-resist buffing classes. Grab a Shaman, a Necro or a Warlock, and/or a Dirge into your group with their disease buffs up, and then watch Dark Distortion either resist, or do maybe 200-400 damage.
